MORVIT INSTITUTE: FACTORY PT 2

Proxima was sitting in her cell when suddenly two alien guards walked up to her cell and released the lasers.

“You’re letting me go?” I ask.

“No. At the Morvit Institute, prisoners work like slaves in our factory.” says one of the guards. They grab me and hold me each by the shoulder and drag me out of my cell.

“NO!” I said. “I refuse to work for you and for a crime that I didn’t even commit. My planet is in danger and I am locked up!”

“Such a sob story.” said one of the guards as they dragged me through the hall and down the stairs where they unhandcuffed me and tossed me in the factory. I land on my chest and I turn around as they lock the door.

“GET TO WORK!” they said. This was going to be hell. The factory was filled with prisoners who were pressing buttons on some of the machines to get them to build electronics. The factory was huge and divided into two parts. One was electronics, such as drones, communication devices and special chips placed in high-tech devices. The other was slop food. I saw other prisoners mashing some of the slop that covered their hands with rashes. The slop was made of something very poisonous. I walked over to electronics and saw a machine that was connected to a conveyor full of electronics. One button was being pressed and the other was empty so I stood there and whenever I saw an electronic come by, I pressed the button, which wrapped it in plastic. I started to work for 10 minutes, while I thought of a way I could get out of here. Suddenly someone interrupted.

“You were the one who killed Queen Tuni.” someone said. I looked over at the guy next to me and he was very similar to Klon. He had grey scaly skin, black eyes and was bald.

“I didn’t kill her.” I said looking at him.

“That’s not what I heard, princess.” he said. “I heard from the guards that you stabbed her. Queen Tuni’s body had multiple stab wounds.”

“I’m telling you that I didn’t kill her. The person who killed her was a man who looked like you but was red and had a horn on his right forehead.” I said.

“Killing the most beautiful and generous queen in the entire galaxy is the biggest inter-galactic crime you could have possibly done,” he said.

    “Beautiful and generous?” I said.

“Yes. I come from the planet Scli and I am a Scalon.” he said. “Our planet was in travesty as the leaders of the planet had drained all of our natural resources. It was only when Queen Tuni and her Anton army annexed the planet and wiped the leaders off. She sent us resources from Allitune and assigned a new leader who was captured under the planet’s previous corrupt government.”

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

I was speechless. It only made me more guilty. What I had said about being queen, how I’d been doing nothing all my life and how I let her die, despite having a future vision. I looked down.

“Look.” I said. “I… didn’t kill her. I failed to save her.”

“Failed to save her,” he says.

“How did you get put in here?” I ask.

“It was the corrupt gangs. Scli was still occupied by many, despite not being ruled by them anymore. The gangs forced me to do a crime that I didn’t want to do. They said that if I didn’t commit the crime, my family would pay the price.”

“You have a family?” I ask.

“I miss them.” he nodded. We continued to do our job silently for another 30 minutes as he finally broke the silence.

“You are princess Proxima. Queen Tuni’s daughter?” he asks.

    “Yeah. You?”

“I am Byne,” he said. Suddenly, a bunch of alien prisoners walked over to us. They were very fat and one in particular looked like a chunky squid with a mask over his mouth. He was wearing the jumpsuit and was yellow with piercing blue eyes. He was angry. He came over to Byne and I.

“Looky what we have here,” he says in a deep monstrous sounding voice.

“What do you want, Mickistro.” Byne asks.

“We just wanted to see what you were doing. It seems like you are always up to no good. Now you''re flirting with someone half your age?” Mickistro said.

“He wasn’t flirting with me.” I said. “He asked about how I got in jail.”

“So you''re defending him,” said Mickestro. “You are lucky you don’t know what he has done.”

“What do you mean?” I asked. Byne just stood there silently. I got a forevision that Byne was going to be punched onto the conveyor. I grabbed one of the electronics and Mickestro charged a punch and I used the electronic to block it as he smashed the device instead.

“WHAT?” he asks. “Who is this girl?”

“How did you know he was going to hit me?” Byne asks.

“I saw into the future.” I said. I turned to Mickestro.

“Back the hell off!” I said. “Leave Byne alone.”

“Argh.” says Mickestro. “Whatever. You win this time, girl.”

Mickestro and his gang walk away from the two of them and Byne speaks up.

“You said you could see into the future, correct?”

    “I did.” I said.

    “How far?”

“The farthest I’ve seen is 30 minutes. But the strength of my vision is getting stronger.” I said. Byne just made a sound in agreement.

“How long is this work anyways? Do we even get breakfast or what?”

“Nope.” Byne said. “We only get one meal time and that is at mid-day, usually between lunch and dinner. After that, we get five minutes of fresh air and then the next 3 hours are in the factory.”

    “That sounds like hell.”

“It is hell,” he said. “But what you did as a prisoner makes you have this punishment.”

“That’s the thing. I didn’t kill my mom. Why would I kill my mom?”

“I don’t believe you.” says Byne. “I’ve had a lot of people lie to me, Proxima. I can’t trust someone that JUST arrived.”

“What can I do to get a friendship with you?” I asked.

“Prove to me that you didn’t kill your mom,” he said. “Then I’ll consider it.”

“Alright.” I said. I put my hand out. He puts his hand out and we shake on it.
