    Amaka’s death

Mr. Chukwuma is a healthy handsome young man. Every man in umuaku land wished to be like him because of his success and good reputations.

One day, Mr. Chukwuma got married to a very beautiful lady called Amaka, she is a responsible young lady from Akunlewi and of a truth, she has a charming face.At exact one-year after their wedding ceremony, God blessed the heavenly orchestrated couples with a child whose christening was celebrated in an intense manner.

Emeka was enrolled into a daycare when he was one year and three months old. As the years passed by, already, he is eight years and in primary four.He is a brilliant and a promising child just like his father.

It is 2:00pm the closing time for primary schools, Mrs. Amaka, as usual, went to pick Emeka back from school. Emeka was watching his mother as she was about to cross the road. She was too anxious to getting her child as she failed to watch her both sides before crossing. As she stepped on the road, a running vehicle which brake is faulty crushed her and immediately, she kicked the bucket.

Little Emeka cried for help. As he was crying close to his mother’s corps, the headmaster asked a teacher to take him home while Amaka’s remains was rtaken to the mortuary.

The melancholy NEWS was broken to Mr. Chukwuma by the school headmaster. Flabbergasted, Mr. chukwuma stood like a statue as his phone fell from his hand.

    CHAPTER TWO

    The new wife

Mrs. Amaka’s remains was buried in her husband’s compound in Umuaku but no ceremonial arrangement was made because; she died young which of course is an abomination for the people of Umuaku to celebrate the death of a young person especially when the person dies mysteriously like that of Mrs. Amaka.

Four months after mourning and devastating, Mr. Chukwuma decided to live Umuaku with his son to start a new life in a strange land.

Mr. Chukwuma shared his thought with the elders of Umuaku.

Well as the wise me would say, to take a French leave, shows disrespect and may lead to a dangerous condition. Your thought is a very nice one and also wise for you to inform us Mr. Obi said. We have looked into it and agreed to your decision. After the long discussion, the elders gave him their blessings and also advised him to someday remember home.

Mr. Chukwuma embarked on his journey with his young son to Ayetoro. Ayetoro is a small city in the western part of Nigeria. It is full of beautiful ladies and able men, white collars job, street lights, private and government schools, expensive houses, churches and mosques.

After three years of progress and being a mentor to many young fellows in Ayetoro, Mr. Chukwuma finally married a charming lady called Busayo.

Busayo is a pretty and an endowed lady but like mostly every other ladies in Ayetoro, she don’t have a good character, she gossips, she is a Johnbull when it comes to cooking and she is very lazy.

    CHAPTER THREE

    Seed of violence

Emeka! Emeka!! Emeka!!! Mrs. Busayo shouted from the sitting room.

    Ma!! I’m coming. Emeka replied.

Emeka abandoned the immense clothes he was washing and as fast as a cheater, he ran inside to answer Mrs. Busayo.

Didn’t you hear me shouting your name or you want to pretend you didn’t? now I see, you have grown so big that I’ll be calling you and you will not answer.

No ma! Emeka replied in a frightened manner.

Will you shut up! She shouted and then continued; I don’t have your time now, I’m going to Iya Suliat’s shop and I’ll be back soon. Emeka before I come back, make sure you are done washing the clothes, plates, cooking and arranging the house.

    Okay ma! He replied.

Actually, to Emeka, it is a regular house poem. Mrs. Busayo don’t work at home, instead, she wakes up from sleep and goes from one house to the other to gossip even without brushing her teeth.

Mrs. Busayo has become so popular in Ayetoro that she even has a nick name “Madam Mebor”. Mebor is the abbreviated word for “Amebor” which means Gossip.

Emeka quickly went inside to complete his washings before cooking and then re-arranging the house as instructed by his step mother.

Hours later, Madam Mebor returned home and met Emeka sitting on the red old couch which is set aside from every other chair in the sitting room. The couch is old and torn like a meat that is being designed by a hungry rat.

Madam Mebor don’t like seeing Emeka in the sitting room so she silently walked into the kitchen and brought out a long cane which she used in spanking Emeka till it broke to pieces. Emeka cried at the peak of his voice but his wailing didn’t last for too long because he is already used to Mrs. Busayo’s spanking.

Despite the fact that she had beaten him till the destruction of the cane, She kept reigning causes on him. Mr. Chukwuma who was returning from work heard her voice from a very far distance and then ran home to see what was happening, only to see his son kneeling helplessly on the ground with bruises all over his body.

Woman! What did this small child do to deserve all this bruises and causes? He asked Mrs. Busayo furiously.

Wo! Ma ba mi sor oro jati jati to ri pe, this your bastard son who don’t have a mother wanted to beat me and see how you are handling the issue. I will teach both of you a lesson, omo ibo ti o lekor. Mrs. Busayo pondered as she sat on the arm chair and shakes her leg like an earth worm that has been poured salt.

Of a truth, there are times when both husband and wife argue but this time made kept Mr. Chukwuma perplexed. With the injuries imposed in Emeka’s body, Mrs. Busayo has definitely crossed her limits which of course she cannot elude.

Mr. Chukwuma never argued with her that night as he thought it was late. Rather, he went away with his son to the room and waited till the next day before taking his decisions.

    CHAPTER FOUR

    Good memories of Mrs. Amaka

Beautiful things are not always good but good things are always beautiful. Mr. Chukwuma shook his head to pity as he reminisces on the good memories of his late wife Amaka. They were so close to the extent that they share secretes and everyday’s experience among themselves. He remembered during their courting when he would go to Mrs. Amaka’s house to look for her but would have to hide in other for her parents or siblings not to see them together.

Indeed, Amaka is not to be compared to any other woman in the world most especially when it comes to cooking. She cooks all kinds of delicacies, if Amaka had studied food & nutrition in the University; she would have earned and be boasting of her Doctorate in cooking.

Tears rolled down the cheek of Mr. Chukwuma as he remembered the time he had issues with the Mazi of Umuaku. Amaka stood by him and also convinced her father who was a chief of Akunlewi land to come to the aid of her husband.

Ko ko ko!! Ko ko ko!!! The sound of the door, although, Mr. Chukwuma didn’t hear the door sound until Baba Ade; a short fat man with pot belly and dark skin hit the door again but this time with force. Gba gba gba!!! Gba gba gba!!!

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

Yes!! Who wants to break my door? Mr. Chukwuma replied furiously.

Awa ni o, ejo sir afe ri yin. Baba Ade answered with his thick voice. Baba Ade’s voice is not sweet to hearing; he talks as if he had swallowed a giant frog.

In hearing the voice, Mr. Chukwuma already knew who it was yet he stood for a while to think of what would have brought Baba Ade to his house as he later opened the door.

Baba Ade and three other people including Mrs. Busayo entered as Mr. Chukwuma offered them sit and sent Emeka to get beverages for them.

Hours after having a long discussion, argument and pleadings, Mr. Chukwuma agreed to accept Mrs. Busayo back into his home again.

    CHAPTER FIVE

    The seminar

Emeka always wait in school to read and do his assignment during the closing hours. For this, he is well recognized. Emeka goes home only when the school principal is ready to go so as not to be locked in the school compound.

Emeka always work hard to become the best in his class. One of the things that inspired him to wanting to become the best was the seminar that was conducted in his school by a young instructor called Mr. Adeokin Raphael Afolabi who was invited to inspire the pupils and students to become great men and women who will do exploits in the world.

The young instructor told them a story about the Lion and the Gazelle. Every day, when the Lion wakes up, it strategizes on how to feed. It then walks to the hunting ground to look for a Gazelle which it would feed on. When the Gazelle wakes up, it also strategizes on how to feed. This then triggers it to go hunting for grass.

The Gazelle has known that the Lion would come hunting it but because it needs to feed, it would take the risk to still go hunting for grass in other to survive. If the Lion failed to strategize, definitely, it would fail to kill a Gazelle which it would then have to suffer by being hungry for the day. And if the Gazelle failed to strategize, it would get eaten by the Lion and then fail to survive.

The young instructor went ahead motivating the pupils and students to set a vision if they must become great in life.

Vision is a mission for the future. Everyone one on earth has visions but not everyone sets even a vision. When you don’t set a vision, you plan not to have a better future because; vision is the strategy of a man’s life. Just like the Lion and the Gazelle in the above story, you need to strategize on becoming great by setting a vision.

The young instructor started answering questions from the students and pupils immediately after ending the seminar.

Why do we need to set a vision? Adesuwa a pupil in primary 5 asked.

You need to set a vision because; it is your vision that would determine the way you want your future to be.

Do students from poor background also need to set a vision? Gabriel a student in JSS 1 asked.

Yes! My friend, students from poor background need to set a vision in other to become wealthy. The poorest man in the world is not one without money but one without a vision. If you don’t want your background to put your back on the ground, you must set a vision now.

Is it too late for SS3 students to set a vision? Biola, the head boy of the school asked.

No! My friend, it is never too late to set a vision but it is right to do what is right at the right time.the young instructor answered.

Can we wait till we graduate from secondary school before setting a vision? Emeka asked.

The young instructor smiled for a while and then answered; no! My boy, because procrastination is the natural assassin to opportunity. The longer you wait, the more it expires. It is only an egg that is well incubated that would bring forth birds. A Lion can feed only when it strategizes and A Gazelle can survive only when it strategizes.

The most painful thing on earth is not Death but a life that fails to fulfill its purpose and potentials. For you to fulfill your purpose or potential, you must set a vision. And please don’t forget that setting a vision is setting your future. He said before leaving the podium.

The proprietor, principal, teaching staffs, non teaching staffs, students and pupils accolade him as he left the podium.

Of a truth, the seminar is indeed an inspiring one which would definitely make people great in life just as it has really inspired all pupils and students of the school to become great people in life and which also earned Emeka the Accolade as the best student of SS3.

    CHAPTER SIX

    Father’s advise

“It is your vision that will determine your future”. Emeka kept reminiscing on the young instructor’s quote and also projected his life in the nearest future.

What an elderly man sees while sitting, a boy would climb a mountain and yet won’t see any. Mr. Chukwuma told his son as he was set to emphasize more. He cleared his throat and relaxed on his half arm chair outside his house as Emeka also sat on a small stool facing his father.

Ever since that young instructor has come to inspire us to becoming great, I’ve been trying to set a vision but of a truth dad, I’ve been finding it really difficult. Father, do you think the time is right for me to set a vision?

My son, there is no right time to do what is supposed to be done. If you keep waiting for the right time, you will wait till you grow old and maybe die without fulfilling your purpose in life. Don’t ever wait for the right time; rather, you make the time right. You must know that your future starts from the next seconds and not the next century.

Father, how can I make the time right?

In other to make the time right, you need to act smart and utilize every opportunity that comes your way. When you tend to act smart, you will meet the smarter ones who will then lead you to the secret of success. A proverb that has always kept me going in all my endeavors, is “journey of a thousand mile, begins with just a step”. Any time you think a thing is difficult execute, just take a step and I assure you the end. Emeka my boy, to achieve the right mind of making the time right, you need a total concentration on that thing.

Mr. Chukwuma adjusted his chair and then sat upright as he went deeper to assisting his son to setting his vision.

“Emeka, close your eyes and tell me what you see”. Emeka closed his eyes and replied; Father, all I see is a deep red light in a dark world.

To set a vision my son, you need an inner eye and your inner eye is your mind. Open and free your mind and then see yourself as what you desire before and after having your own family.

Emeka closed his eyes and did as he was instructed by his father.

Father, I see myself as a successful businessman who has a lot of investments, cars, houses and I also see myself conducting seminars for teenagers; leading them through the right path of greatness.

Emeka, that is your vision. You need to work harder now that you have projected your future because; all success comes with adversaries which may then truncate your vision. And in other to avoid that, you must have endurance and be strong. Emeka, open your eyes let me narrate a short story to you.

“Long time ago, in the days of cowries. Parents do take their children to the chief priest of the village in whom they believe is a messenger of their creator to foresee their future.

One day, a couple went with their two sons in other to foresee their future. The chief priest asked the two boys to stretch their hands as he enchanted and viewed their future as requested. He danced and praised his deity, few seconds later, he held the first son and told his parents; this boy is going to be wealthy, and he is the chief Conner stone of your house. Anything he touches shall turn to gold.

Baba thank you ooo! His parents chorused in a rejoiceful manner.

The chief priest held the second son’s hand and shook his head like a redhead lizard.

Baba, what happened, their mother asked in fear.

This boy will be a pauper, he will be so wretched that he would always beg to eat and anything he touches shall dry off.

The first son preferred staying a home instead of attending school ever since his future had been foreseen. Anytime his parents try to advise him of attending school or learning work, he would angrily raise his voice; mom, dad, you better leave me now. You both know in the blessed child and soon I will be rich. If you made me angry, I won’t give you out of my money when it comes.

As a man thinks in his heart, so he is. The second son refused to accept what the chief priest had foreseen concerning his future. He continued attending school even when his parents stopped paying his fees, he engaged into partnership business with his friends to pay his fees. They continued partnering even after school and like ants over a sugar, their business boomed. He became the first man to build a duplex and own a car in his town. He later separated from his friends and own companies of his own where he produces consumable goods.

Many years passed yet the first son was still at home eating from his parents sweat and hopping for his wealth which later became a cry in the wilderness”.

My son, Mr. Chukwuma cleared his throat as he continued; I’m glad you have been able to set a vision but that does not mean you should fold your hands and cross your legs on the table expecting breakthrough just like the first son in the story I told you.

Father I promise to work very hard and not let my destiny be truncated.

Good, my son. It’s getting late, go and prepare dinner before you step-mother comes and start barking like a wounded Dog.

    CHAPTER SEVEN

    Destiny

Destiny is not an assumption but the scheme of one’s life. Everyone on earth has a destiny to fulfill. Many say; destiny can be changed but it a must you know that Destiny can never be changed, rather, it can be delayed and that is when you agree with the evil of the world.

Emeka never allowed the sparkling and glittering things of the world to delay his destiny. He never stopped reading his books, attending church services and confiding in elders. He was determined to becoming a successful businessman which made him always read business related to business and also making a successful businessman his Mentor.

Emeka chose Mr. Aliko Dangote as his mentor and that of course, lead him to the right path of his future. Emeka later became a successful businessman and a seminarian. His vision became his future only because he never relented neither did he accept defeat from the adversaries which came forth.
