Chapter 346 Zed, You Are Such A Badass

After hearing what Jean had to say, Zed pondered for a while and let out a sigh. Finally, he decided it

was better not to tell her the truth.

"Now that the matter is solved and Ethan is taken away, it is best to let go this subject," said Zed. Zed

drove attentively andforted Jean with his words. "Jean, you are still weak now. So don''t wrack your

mind and tire yourself. Please rest and stop overthinking."

"I am not overthinking. It was obvious that there was someone who wanted to frame me tonight. It is

not as simple as you are trying to make it sound. Zed, I can''t understand why you are so eager to make

me forget the video matter. How can you expect me to let it go so easily? You... You already know who

the wire-puller is, right? However, you don''t want to hold him or her ountable because you are not

willing to hurt that person. Am I right?"

ring at Zed, Jean found it hard to maintain herposure. She shouted at him irritatingly. His

attitude in this matter disturbed her a great deal.

She was well aware of Zed''s personality and knew that he was not the kind of person to let things go

that easily. ''But why is he behaving like this?'' Jean wondered. Finally, she decided that Zed knew who

the trouble maker was and didn''t wish to expose that person.

Jean thought to herself, ''Has Zed already known that Jesse is the culprit?

So has he decided not to hold her ountable and let the matter go?

If it turns out to be like this, then Zed, I really feel disappointed at what you have done this time.''

"What are you talking about?" On hearing what Jean said, Zed''s heart started to beat faster and he felt

his face turn pale. He frowned, turned to look at her and said,"Look at you now. You are woolgathering

and guessing randomly. The reason why I ask you to go home and have a good rest is because I want

you to keep up a good spirit. Have you forgotten that our grandpa and Grandpa Dan are still there in

our home? If you still hold the matter tightly and don''t let it go, then how will you look presentable in

    front of them?"

"Do we have to let it go that easily? Shouldn''t we hold the wire-puller ountable then?" Jean looked

at Zed and asked again. Disappointment filled her face. The fact that he was dodging this matter

    unnerved her.

She knew clearly that it was reasonable for him to have such worries.

Zed''s grandfather didn''t like her and had a rather bad impression of her. As he hade to the H City

this time, Jean should have seized the opportunity to behave well and change the impression she had

    created earlier.

    But...

Although it was proven that Jean was innocent and had no fault in this matter, she felt annoyed

knowing the culprit remained unpunished. ''That is not fair, '' Jean''s mind screamed.

What was even worse is she didn''t even know the identity of the wire-puller. Even though she

suspected Jesse, she had no proper evidence to put her mind to rest.

As long as the wire-puller was not found out, Jean felt that she would spend her whole life with a bomb

that was about to explode any second. Such a feeling made Jean rather anxious.

"Jean..." Zed knew exactly what Jean was worried about. He parked his car on the side of the road,

stared at her and sighed. He then continued to say,"Believe me, the wire-puller will not take actions

within such a short time. We saw what happened today, and it will be stupid of that person to do

    anything now."

"Do you really know who that person is?" Jean asked, looking extremely serious. She was not looking

for a vague answer and wanted a straightforward one; the name of the person.

"There are several suspects. I have already sent people to monitor them," Zed replied calmly. He

seemed not to want to pursue this subject and said,"So once I have sufficient evidence, I will notify the

police to take the wire-puller into prison. So you don''t need to worry. I will ensure that you never get into

    trouble again."

"Zed..." Jean started to call him and then faltered in her speech. Slowly, she looked at him with a sad

look and said,"You mean to say that it''s been long since you sent people in search of the truth about

the video. Which means you didn''t believe that I was flirting with Calvin in the club, am I right?"

At such a moment, Zed realized that he should no longer hide the truth from Jean. So he nodded his

head and said,"Yes, I believed you."

"Then why did you treat me like that?" Jean screamed back. Now Jean could not hold back her

grievance and tears started to fall down her delicate cheeks. She said in a sobbing tone,"Every time I

saw you misunderstand me, do you know how hurtful and anxious I was? I was extremely eager to

exin myself to you those days. But look what you did! You didn''t even give me the chance to exin.

What was worse, you rewarded me with a scene wherein you were sleeping on the same bed with

    Jesse..."

Now Jean made a sobbing sound and found it hard to continue. The past scenes kept ying in her

mind. Two streams ran down from her eyes. She cried out loud.

"Jean, I am sorry for all I have done." Zed tried to pull her closer andforted her in a soft and gentle

tone. He said slowly,"If I had not done like that, the wire-puller would have continued to target and harm

you. I would rather see them harm me than see you suffer from what they had done to you. I could not

stand watching them hurt you, which is why I had to do this."

"What are you talking about?" Jean raised her head from Zed''s hug and looked at him surprisedly. She

said,"So, you were hit by a car that morning because you distanced yourself from me?"

"Actually I can tell you a secret then," replied Zed with a mysterious look.

"What?" Jean stared at him in great puzzlement not understanding what was happening.

"I got hit right after I spent the whole night with you," Zed whispered the whole story in Jean''s ear in his

    husky and charming voice.

Hearing this, Jean''s eyes widened because it made no sense to her. Dumbfounded, she found that Zed

was smiling and looking at her.

She was still deep in amazement and found it hard to let his words sink in. The extent of his actions

    both amazed and shocked her.

A smile crept on Zed''s lips. He looked at Jean''s face which was full of amazement and an almost

ineffable sweetness raised from his deep heart.

"Well, I know that you are quite touched by what I did. But you should stop reacting this way..." Zed

said trying to bring Jean back from her shock. He intended to hug Jean but she pushed him aside with

    a great force.

"Zed, you are such a badass." Jean''s eyes turned red and she red at Zed with a piercing look.

Startled, Zed hadn''t expected such a reaction from her and almost fell to the ground.

"You knew it was a dangerous thing to do! How did you put yourself into trouble? Why are you so silly?

I can understand why you did this behind my back. Alright, it is because you didn''t want me to know

about your concern. But you... You knew it was quite dangerous but you still carelessly did it. If those

people had intended to kill you at that moment, how would you have dealt with them?"

As she kept on speaking, huge drops of tears kept falling down from Jean''s eyes. She was trembling

with fear and wondered what could have happened to Zed.

On seeing Jean cry, Zed immediately tried to wipe it with his hands.

Not knowing the right words to utter, he tried tofort her awkwardly. "Jean, I didn''t mean to make

you cry. If I had expected that you would behave like this, I would not have told you this."

"How could you say that you wouldn''t have told me this?" Jean cried harder now. In a trembling voice,

she said,"You always hide everything from me thinking it is the right thing to do. But you have never

thought that unpredictability and woolgathering will make me even more frightened and nervous. Have

you ever thought about that? Zed, you are so selfish."

"Yes, I am selfish." Zed saw Jean cry so sadly and sighed heavily in his heart. He admitted that he was

totally wrong and said with a doting face,"Can you stop crying now? If you still feel ufortable, you

can beat me. All I want is for you to stop crying."

Jean wiped the tears off her face and noticed the flurry on Zed''s face. The fear inside her heart then

slowly dissipated. With the sadness still inside, she spoke in a choking voice,"Then you promise to me

that you will never hide anything from me. I am willing to stay with you only if you promise that. Even if I

can''t help you with the trouble, I don''t want to be kept in dark ever again."

"Ok, I promise you that if you promise me to stop crying," Zed replied, feeling both helpless and lost.

Hearing Zed''s words, Jean smiled through her tears. Her cheeks and eyes looked unnaturally red now.

Zed clearly knew that no matter how sadly Jean cried, she intended to threaten him with her tears.

But seeing her cry so badly swelled his heart with pain.

"Jean, you really don''t need to worry about me. That day I chose to be hit. They couldn''t have killed me

even if they wanted to. You know my quickness when facing dangerous situations, right?" Zed noticed

that Jean had already calmed down and hoped she would listen to his exnation.

"But why did you choose to be hit then?" Jean sniffed and asked doubtfully.

"Because of you. I thought that if I was in hospital then we can both be in the same ce. I was tired of

always seeing you surrounded by so many men."
