Chapter 266 Jean Wen, Stop There

Chapter 266 Jean Wen, Stop There

Jean stared at Calvin''s unhappy face with wide eyes. She was shocked.

''Maranda really has a big mouth. She told Calvin about my illness.

Doesn''t she understand that she should protect my privacy in front of a guy I''ve only met twice before?

    I must talk to herter.''

"Actually, it''s not as serious as you think. I''ve only been in aa once. I''ll be careful next time, " she

    said with a bitter smile.

Calvin shook his head. "You not only need to be careful, but you really have to take good care of

yourself. If you fall ill now, people will gossip about you. They will think that you get sick because you

are under great pressure and feel guilty about what you have done. And those who want to hurt you will

be more satisfied when they learn of how your health was affected by what they had done..."

    Calvin said gravely.

Jean felt as though her head was aching. She didn''t expect that Calvin, who was usually quiet, was

    actually such a chatterbox.

Although she knew that he was speaking because of the concern he felt, She felt a little worn down.

When Calvin saw that Jean''s expression was getting gloomier, he realized that he needed to stop. This

was only their third meeting. It was not his ce to lecture her like this.

An awkward look suddenly appeared on his face. He said with embarrassment, "Sorry, I crossed a

    line."

"That''s okay. I know you are concerned about me." Jean dismissed the awkwardness with a rushed

    exnation.

"It''s almost lunchtime. Would you like to have lunch with me?" Calvin asked Jean as he nced at his

    watch.

Jean became hesitant. "I have an appointment with my friend..."

After saying that, Jean''s expression showed the guilt she was feeling.

Although she still owed him a cup of coffee, she wasn''t ready to go out for lunch with him.

Calvin was disappointed. He managed a smile as he replied, "I wanted to take you out to lunch. But

since you have an appointment with your friend, we''ll go another time."

"OK." Jean felt relieved that Calvin wasn''t pushing her. Since he wasn''t too offended, her guilt

    vanished.

"Rest well. And please call me if there is any problem. I gotta go now." Calvin stood up as he excused

    himself.

"Thank you for visiting." Jean got out of bed quickly and followed him to the door.

"Don''t worry about seeing me off. Go back and lie down. You need your rest." Calvin stopped Jean.

Jean waved her hand dismissively. "I''ve been lying down for so long that I feel a little stiff. I want to get

some exercise." Jean exined with a smile.

After hearing what she said, Calvin could hardly refuse her. He opened the door and stepped out.

Just as Jean walked through the open door, she saw Mooreing toward her.

"Jean, Mr. Li." Moore spoke as he walked up to Jean and Calvin. Then he reached forward, grabbed

Calvin''s hand, and shook it firmly.

Jean stood aside and managed a smile.

"Mr. Bai." Calvin returned Moore''s smile, "I didn''t expect that we would meet again so soon."

"Me neither. Are you going back? It''s time for lunch. Jean and I agreed to have lunch together. Would

you like toe with us, Mr. Li?" Moore invited Calvin with a big smile. Had he looked at Jean he

would have seen that she didn''t want to have lunch with Calvin.

Calvin turned to look at Jean. His expression conveyed the bewilderment he felt. Incidentally, he

happened to see Jean winking at Moore. Calvin felt odd.

    "No..."

Calvin was about to refuse, but Jean interrupted him, "Well, please join us."

''Foolish Moore, '' Jean thought. She had winked at him so many times, but he ignored herpletely.

He was only looking after his own interests.

She had already told Calvin that she had an appointment with a friend. Now that Calvin knew who the

friend was, he would discover her intention.

How could she still refuse Calvin?

Calvin looked at Jean with a half smile before nodding. "OK, how can I turn down the invitation? That

    would be rude."

Jean rolled her eyes when she heard what Calvin had said.

"But we need to reach an agreement first. We''ll eat lunch in the hospital dining room." After hearing

what she said, the two men''s expression changed.

"Why? There are some good restaurants near the hospital. Surely their food will be better than what is

served at the hospital. Plus, it''s rare for us to dine together. This would be a good opportunity. Let''s go

to a restaurant instead." Moore frowned and said.

Jean red at Moore before shing an innocent smile. "I had breakfast in the dining room this

    morning. The food was pleasant..."

"Since Jean is insisting that we dine in the hospital cafeteria, let''s agree." Calvin advised with a smile.

Moore red at Jean before finally nodding reluctantly.

Jean smiled and headed toward the dining room.

Calvin went up to Moore and whispered, "Have you eaten with Jean in the hospital dining room

    before?"

"We''ve never eaten a meal together. Oh, wait. I remember. We had breakfast in the dining room

    earlier." Moore answered truthfully.

Calvin nodded to show that he understood. "Next time, I will invite you to eat out."

Moore shed a modest smile and said promptly, "My treat next time..."

"Enough with the politeness. Let''s go eat." Jean, who had been walking till this point, had turned to find

that the men were still where she had left them. She spoke with them firmly.

Moore and Calvin smiled awkwardly before catching up with her.

Just as they reached the entrance to the dining hall, Jean saw an acquaintance. She stopped abruptly

    and sighed deeply.

She had deliberately chosen the dining hall so that people wouldn''t gossip about her.

But she had forgotten that someone in the hospital was more terrible and annoying than the paparazzi.

She thought that if she went to the dining room she wouldn''t meet this person.

But Jean didn''t expect that she would meet this person on her way to lunch.

"There are too many people in the dining room. Let''s go out to eat."

Jean decided immediately. She wrinkled her brows as though she was thinking about something.

Moore and Calvin were both amazed at the sudden change.

They peered around Jean and saw a person. Without asking any questions, Calvin and Moore nodded

    simultaneously and said, "OK."

Jean was relieved that the two men hadn''t thought it necessary to ask her any questions. She really

didn''t want to exin this awkward situation.

Jean shed them a grateful smile before turning around and leading them in the opposite direction

    from the dinning hall.

    "Jean Wen, stop there."

They had only taken a few steps when an angry voice called from behind them.

Jean sighed helplessly, turned her head slowly and unwillingly.

Her ns never seemed to work out!

What bad luck! She had met so many annoying people today.
