Chapter 949 Have You Also Chickened Out?
Maverick was the leader of the Cole Gang Thunderbolt Division.
Despite his prestigious title, Jarett didn''t favor him, mainly because of Maverick''s reckless nature.
Jarett believed people like him were simply not suitable for significant tasks. However, because
Maverick was known for his loyalty and all the subordinates within the Thunderbolt Division
supported him, he became the leader of the Thunderbolt Division.
Some time ago, Jarett had appointed a trusted subordinate to manage the Thunderbolt Division, but
no one followed his orders. The subordinate killed a member of the Thunderbolt Division, attempting
to set an example. However, despite outwardpliance, the members secretly bound him in a
sack and gave him a severe beating.

Although Jarett was infuriated, he couldn''t punish the entire division. Thus, he had no choice but to
appoint Maverick as the head.
Fortunately, Maverick, despite his recklessness, disyed somepetence. He sessfully
completed every task assigned by Jarett with remarkable perfection. Hence, the kingpin decided not
to remove him from his position, simply leaving him with cold indifference and assigning Maverick to
undertake risky and ungrateful missions.
Every gang needed someone to undertake these unfortunate tasks, and Maverick was that unlucky
person.
Despite being well aware of Jarett''s disfavor and harboring some resentment, he could do nothing
about it, for he knew nothing other than fighting.
To provide a better life for his parents, he could only stick with Jarett.
In the eyes of outsiders, the leader of the Thunderbolt Division seemed to enjoy endless glory, but in
reality, Maverick had long since gritted his teeth and swallowed his grievances.
Maverick knew Jarett was currently focused on greater deals and couldn''t be bothered with a small
fry like him. However, if he provoked the Lawsons and pissed Jarett off, his life might truly be in
jeopardy.
Seeing Maverick take a few steps back with gritted teeth and remaining silent, Robert sneered,
"Huh, have you already chickened out just at the mention of Lawson Group? From how arrogant
you behaved earlier, I thought you really were something!"
At that, Maverick clenched his fists tightly, almost to the point of drawing blood.
Robert rolled his eyes and then turned to Kingsley with a sneer. "Have you also chickened out, kid?"
He had initially called these bodyguards over to deal with Kingsley, but because he saw Maverick
about to get physical, he didn''t immediately target Kingsley.
Now that Maverick had backed down, Robert believed that no one else would dare cause trouble
again once he drove Kingsley away.
"Chicken out?" Kingsley smirked coldly. "I''ve never chickened out from anything!"
"Oh really?" Robert quirked a brow, smirking. "You''ve got balls, kid. Are you genuinely not afraid of
death, or are you just putting up a show of strength here? Listen, kid. It''s not humiliating to cower
before the Lawson Family. Losing your life for the sake of pride isn''t worth it!"
Robert thought that Kingsley was only resisting in front of everyone and would back down as long
as he gave him a way out. However, to Robert''s surprise, Kingsley merely smirked icily and said,
"Enough with the nonsense. I''m here to find River Zarnell. Tell him toe out and meet me. I have
no time to waste on small fries of the Lawson Family like them!"
Whoosh!
The crowd erupted into a tumult, whispering as they gazed at Kingsley with strange eyes.
"This guy must be out of his mind to call the Lawsons small fries!"
"He must be from elsewhere, or he wouldn''t dare insult the Lawsons like that! Does he not fear
death?"
"Check his license te; he''s a local! Either he''s overly confident, or there''s something wrong with
his head!"
"You can say that again. This guy is either showing off or just in foolish!"
Even Maverick looked at Kingsley in astonishment, his eyes filled with disbelief.
