Chapter 165
Chapter 165 Fatal Tenderness
Three minutester, Nancy was surprised to see Nichs standing outside when she opened the door.
“What are you doing here?”
“Didn’t you hurt your leg?” Nichs asked.
Initially, he was angry that she was out with Christian, but when he learned that she had injured her leg,
all his anger disappeared. He simply wanted to see her as soon as possible to check on her injury.
Suddenly, Nancy was swept off her feet as Nichs picked her up and carried her to the couch. In that
moment, she realized that he knew her ce better than his own. His sudden disy of tenderness
and considerationpletely surprised her.
“Where did you hurt yourself? Let me see it.” Crouching down, he extended his hand to remove her
bedroom slippers and examine her injury.
Hastily, Nancy pulled her legs back and said in embarrassment, “It’s alright. It just hurt a little when I
twisted it, and I’ve already checked it. It’s not very serious.”
“What do you mean it’s not serious?” He insisted, grabbing her feet with a strong grip. Unable to move,
Nancy could only let him remove her bedroom slippers.
Then, he removed her sock, revealing the injury on her ankle.
Instantly, his face fell, and his tone became more serious. “It’s discolored and swollen. How can you
say it’s not serious?”
“I applied some medication earlier. It should be fine tomorrow morning once the swelling goes down.”
she mumbled.
“It’s swollen to the size of a golf ball. Do you really think it will go down overnight?” he asked.
She sheepishly touched her nose, not saying anything.
“What medication did you use? Let me see it,” he requested.
She pointed to the balm on the table, and he picked it up to read thebel before cing it back. Then,
he called Lynn. “Bring me somemon medication and effective balms. I’m at Nancy’s ce.”
After the call ended, Lynn carefully considered what he had heard and its meaning. So, Mr. Sallow is at
Ms. Nancy’s ce? Well, that means he was in a hurry to leave today because he wanted to meet his
wife. Adrenaline rushed through his veins at the thought. Looks like he’s going to reconcile with Ms.
Nancy. I need to bring these medications over as soon as possible and not ruin things for Mr. Sallow.
Half an hourter, he knocked on Nancy’s front door, but it was Nichs who opened it. Initially, he
nned to greet Nichs and chat a little, but Nichs shut the door in his face and didn’t say a word.
after taking the medical box from him.
Staring at the closed door, Lynn sighed. “My my, Mr. Sallow, I wanted to warn you because it looks like
there might be a stormter” However, as he rode the elevator down, he reconsidered and thought it
was best not to mention it.
Alter half an hour of applying a coldpress, the swelling on Nancy’s leg had subsided slightly, but it
still appeared red. Applying a little pressure, Nichs asked, “Does it hurt?”
“Not too much. However, after pressing it a few more times, Nancy couldn’t help but gasp suddenly.
“Ouch that hurts
“Of course it hurts when it’s so red. You didn’t feel the pain earlier because of the coldpress. Now
that the cool sensation is gone, you’ll definitely feel the pain.” he exined. “This balm is effective. Ill
apply some on you, and you can apply it again before going to bed”
“Okay”
After applying the balm, she felt a coolness on her ankle that eased her pain and made her more
comfortable. When everything was done, Nichs picked up her slippers and wanted to put them on
for her, but she stopped him. I can do it myself!”

Even when they were still married, he had never taken off her socks or shoes for her. Surprisingly, he
was now willing to do all these things humbly after their separation. She couldn’t deny that she was
taken aback, but she no longer dared to associate these gestures with words like “affection” or “love”,
Nichs packed away the medical box, and as he was about to close it, his eyes suddenly fixated on
the medication on the table. He stared at it for a long time before finally asking. “Did you apply that
bal?m? yourself, or did he do it for you?”
He? Nancy was momentarily stunned before realizing that he was referring to Christian.
A sharp pain struck her chest, but she hid it without flinching. Looking at the floor, she asked softly. “Do
you really think I’m such a casual woman? Even if we’re divorced, most couples wouldn’t start dating
someone else so quickly after breaking up. Nichs, do you think I’m already dating Christian?”
“We’ve only been divorced for a few days, and he’s picking you up after work and taking you home.
What do you think I would assume?” He immediately regretted his words as soon as they left his
mouth.
He had always prided himself on having above-average emotional and intellectual intelligence. But
when it came to matters involving Nancy and Christian, his intelligence seemed to disappear.
Both of them fell silent, and the air around them grew still. Checking the time, Nichs saw that it was
already 10:00 PM, so even if he didn’t want to, it was time to leave. “I’m going home now. Get some
rest.”
“I’ll walk you out.”
They walked to the door, and Nichs opened it. Just as he was about to step out, an exceptionally
loud thunderp shook the sky as if it was going to tear it apart.
Instinctively, Nancy covered her ears, reminding Nichs of her fear of thunder. “Are you scared?” he
asked.
“A little,” she honestly replied.
Before he could finish his sentence, Nancy pressed her lips together and interrupted, “But I’ll have to
get used to it sooner orter. I won’t be afraid anymore after hearing it a few more times. It’s raining
heavily now. Did you bring an umbre?”
Nichs shook his head.
“Wait a runute. I’ll get you an umbre so you don’t get wet.”
“Okay.” In that moment, he desperately hoped that she wouldn’t be able to find an umbre.
A few minutester, Nancy reappeared and gave him a sheepish look. “I think I left my umbre at your
ce that day.”
“Do you only have one umbre at home?” he asked.
Nancy nodded. “Yes, that’s the only one.”
The wind howled outside as the rain poured down harder, and even the windows rattled from the heavy
raindrops. Nancy looked worriedly at the situation. Suddenly, an idea struck her and she suggested,
“Why don’t you call Lynn and ask her to bring an umbre for you?”
Nichs’ eyes lit up. “I’ll give it a try.”
As if Lynn had anticipated this, his phone was switched off. Seeing Nichs put his phone away
without saying a word, Nancy quickly asked, “What happened?”
“His phone is turned off.”
