Chapter 1048 Mr. McDaniel''s Persuasion
Sure enough, Julien turned around and saw Zack pacing back and forth outside, looking tense.
Knowing Zack well, Julien spected it should be something important.
"Excuse me," Julien said, standing up and nodding apologetically to the old man across the table.
Mr. McDaniel knew what wasing and picked up his cup of tea with a smile. "No worries. Go
ahead with it. I''m not in a hurry."
"Okay. Just a second," Julien said, nodding slightly before waving to his assistant.
Zack immediately came in. "Mr. Flint."
"What is it?" Julien asked.
Zack didn''t answer directly but nced at Mr. McDaniel, who was sipping his tea.
Julien said, "Just go ahead with it. My teacher is not an outsider."
"Yes," Zack agreed, nodding before turning back to Julien. "Something has happened to Ms.
Raines."
"What?" Julien changed colors and asked with concern, "What happened?"

But Mr. McDaniel put down his cup and cut in, "Ms. Raines Zack mentioned is the one you got back
together with after your divorce, right?"
"Yes." Julien nodded.
Mr. McDaniel fondled his cup, his smile bing somewhat meaningful. "You know, I''ve never met
Ms. Raines in all these years."
Julien didn''t notice anything amiss in Mr. McDaniel''s expression and assumed he was simply
curious about Sydney. He smiled back and said, "I''ll introduce you to her when we attend the
business party."
"There''s no need to rush," Mr. McDaniel said, raising his hand to indicate he wasn''t that eager to
meet Sydney.
In fact, he didn''t like her.
The smile on Julien''s face slowly faded. "Do you have any reservations about her?"
Mr. McDaniel was surprised, not expecting his emotions to be seen through.
Had he been that obvious?
Even so, he didn''t feel embarrassed about it.
Far from it, he remained calm.
And he admitted it.
"I do have some opinions." He nodded.
Julien frowned.
And Zack was stunned.
This old man was blunt to say that in the presence of Julien.

Mr. McDaniel seemed oblivious to the unhappiness in Julien''s tone. His face still wore a smiling and
amiable expression. "It''s simple. She is not good enough for you."
Even Zack''s mouth twitched at his words.
Not good enough? How ridiculous!
What mattered was that Mr. Flint liked her. Even Old Madam Flint had no problem with that.
In fact, the olddy liked Sydney very much.
No one in the entire Flint family had said anything like that.
Yet this man, an outsider, said it, which was absurd.
"I beg to differ. I don''t think she is unworthy of me," Julien said as he sat back down, his expression
turning cold.
Now Mr. McDaniel could no longer pretend not to sense the displeasure in Julien''s tone.
Julien had made it so obvious that it would seem deliberate to pretend again.
Mr. McDaniel looked at Julien with an incredulous expression. "Do you think I''m wrong?"

Turning serious, he looked at Julien and said, "Don''t you get it? You are the head of the Flint family
and she is just a down-and-outdy. Well, not a realdy but a foster daughter who doesn''t know
who her real parents are. She has no family background or ability. How can such a woman be
worthy of being with you? She can''t bring you any benefit. Your father is an example. After marrying
his current wife, he suffered so much ridicule in the circle. Do you want to follow in his footsteps?"
Mr. McDaniel looked disappointed.
Julien''s frown deepened. "I''m with Sydney because of our feelings, not her family background. I
love her and want to be with her. Even if she''s just an ordinary girl from an ordinary family, she is
worthy. Don''t you forget that the Flint Corporation is strong enough on its own, and I don''t need the
so-called connection through marriage or a wife with connections or abilities to help me. I can keep

He paused for a moment, his eyes narrowing. "As for following in my father''s footsteps, that''s a

world yet. But I''m different. I inherited the Flint Corporation early on and brought it to its current

His tone was stern, thick with a warning.

Zack lowered his head to stifle a smile.
