Chapter 818 Jealousy

    Chapter 818 Jealousy

He had been asionally curious and wanted to meet her.

It was not an urgent issue, so he kept putting it off until six years passed. All along, he hadn''t

believed it was that important. It was just curiosity.

He hadn''t felt the urgency to meet her.

As a result, he missed the best opportunity to win her heart and be with her.

    He really regretted it.

If he had taken out some time to go and see her, it might have been a different story.

Hunter suddenly moaned, leaned back, and covered her face in frustration.

His action startled not only Sydney but also the other customers in the café. They couldn''t help

    looking at him.

Ufortable with so much attention, Sydney smiled awkwardly at them, cleared her throat, and

    whispered, "Hey, what''s wrong?"

Hunter forced a smile, weakly waved his hand, and replied in dismay, "Nothing, I was justmenting

a chance I missed and wanted to hit myself."

    "Ha?" Sydney was confused.

Hunter shook his head. "Never mind, go ahead."

"Oh." Sydney didn''t press since he was reluctant to tell. She nodded, put the phone to her ear, and

    shifted her attention.

"Hello?" Her eyes softened as she put all her attention on the call.

Julien heard her voice and unknitted his brows. "What took you so long to answer the phone? Is the

    trial still not over?"

"Yes," Sydney replied, "I was talking to Hunter."

She looked up at the man.

Hunter smiled at her and raised his coffee cup.

Upon hearing the name, Julien stood up from his chair and pursed his lips into a line. "Hunter?"

    "Yep." Sydney nodded.

Julien''s brows furrowed once again. "He''s with you?"

"Uh-huh," Sydney nodded, "there is something I need to talk to him about."

"You have to meet him in person?" Julien croaked, clutching the phone.

Hunter had feelings for Sydney. Although he had given up, it was not so easy for him to get over it.

What if he changed his mind after seeing her?

In short, Hunter was a time bomb.

Although Julien didn''t think Hunter could steal Sydney away, he was upset to have a rival in love.

Someone was coveting his woman. It unnerved him and gave him a sense of crisis. His missteps

would mean opportunities for his rivals.

Julien thought to himself and got antsy. He itched to stop his work, rush over, and drive Hunter

    away.

Only he couldn''t really do that.

    He could only sulk.

Sydney detected the jealousy in his tone and helplessly shook her head.

This man got jealous so easily.

In fact, she had anticipated such a reaction from him when he learned about her meeting with

    Hunter.

She didn''t n to tell him that Hunter had apanied her to the court hearing. He might lose

    control ande over.

"This is important. You know about my cooperation with Hunter to deal with the Madden family.

We''re trying to figure out what to do next," Sydney replied, her eyes glittering.

Across the table, Hunter sipped his coffee and calmed down. When he heard that, he put his cup

down and looked at her. Obviously, he couldn''t understand why she lied.

Sydney silently looked at him and shook her head.

After Julien heard her out, his face was less sullen.

He had thought Hunter asked Sydney out to confess his love for her.

Hunter was not the kind of person who would confess to someone who had been spoken for. That

kind of selfish action was disgusting.

Fortunately, it was not as he thought, or else he would definitely beat Hunter up.

He totally believed Sydney''s words. He bowed his head and hummed, "Come back when you''re

done. Don''t stay with him for long. He is not a good person."

Sydney felt guilty that he bought her lie and then got amused by the second half of his speech.

The two men were really ''close'' friends who grew up together.

One called the other temperamental and unpredictable.

More direct, thetter called the former a bad person.

She was annoyed when Hunter talked ill of Julien. Now she realized that the two men often roasted

    each other.

She raised her head and looked at Hunter with amusement. "Okay, I''ll go back when things are

    done."

Hunter pointed to his nose and shrugged.

His implication was clear. He knew that Julien had mentioned him.

Sydney lightly nodded as a confirmation of his guess.

He instantly rolled his eyes, aware that Julien had talked ill of him.

After getting Sydney''s promise, Julien felt better but was still upset.

It was her cooperation with Hunter and not their meeting that bothered him.

She sought cooperation for her revenge.

It was fine, but she would rather work with Hunter than him.

Given his power, he could easily deal with the Madden family, but she had made it clear that she

didn''t want him to secretly help her. If he did that, she would not forgive him.

In fact, he knew that she did it for him. Still, he was upset. It was like she would rather believe and

    depend on others than him.

He pinched his eyebrows and refrained from letting his imagination run riot.

He knew that if he continued, his thoughts would get more radical. In the end, he would probably

believe that she didn''t ask for his help because she didn''t trust him.

He would not let himself think that way, or else, their rtionship would be at stake.

Although she didn''t want him to secretly help her, he could find opportunities to openly help her.

That idea relieved him of his inner struggles.

"Aren''t you busy?" Sydney suddenly asked.

Julien hummed, "I''m taking a break and will attend a meetingter."

"Don''t stress yourself out." Sydney was distressed.

Julien detected the concern in her voice and smiled gently, "I can handle it."

"You surely will," Sydney also smiled.

Julien''s eyes flickered, and he asked, "What is the result of the trial?"

"Six months of imprisonment. Not convinced, Madeline is going to appeal," Sydney sneered.

Julien narrowed his eyes. "It doesn''t matter. The result will be the same."

"Yeah, I''m not worried at all." Sydney shrugged.

Julien twiddled his fingers and asked again as if casually, "Did Madeline act strangely or say

anything unusual to you in court?"
