Chapter 736 rice Sounded Sydney Out
“...” Sydney had no idea what to say. After a long pause, she said uncertainly, “I thought it was luck.”
“Yes, it was. But your constitution made it an easier thing,” Finn answered, sliding the pen into its
top.
Sydney looked down and touched her belly. She couldn’t believe that it was easy for her to have a
baby. She had only heard of this before.
Finn noticed Sydney lowered her head and looked sullen. Leaning back in his chair, he asked,
“Why? You don’t look happy with your constitution. You know, many women are dreaming of it.”
“Ha.” Sydney pulled the corners of her mouth to force a smile. “How can I be happy? I can’t even
ept it.”
‘Fertile? Easy to have a baby? It makes me no different from a sow. I don’t find myself a single
reason to feel blessed.’
“Come on, you can make it. You love Old Madam, don’t you? Think about it. You’re very likely to
give her a great-grandson before her death. Or would you rather see the Old Madam leave the
world with regrets?” Finn persuaded, pushing his sses up.
Sydney pressed her lips together and said nothing.
He really hit the nail on the head. She couldn’t do that to the Old Madam.
This meant she had to bear a baby with Julien within three years.
Her brows furrowed, and she spoke, “Forget it. Let’s quit the talk. I’ll face it when I have to. Now
prescribe me medicine.”
“I’ve had it done.” Finn tapped his long fingers on the prescription that was just written out.
Sydney looked down at it, only to find that the scrawly handwriting did not make any sense to her.
She grabbed that piece of paper, got herself up and said, “I’m gonna get my medicine at the
pharmacy.”
“OK,” Finn nodded slightly. “Go ahead. But you gotta know that your body is not ready for
pregnancy. You must have protected sex with Julien, or you know what may happen—another baby
on the way.”
Sydney blushed with embarrassment, “Julien and I haven’t gone that far. You’re talking about it too
early.”
“It’s only a matter of time between adults.” Finn smiled meaningfully.
Sydney took a deep breath and replied, “Whatever. I gotta go.”
She opened the door and walked over to the pharmacy.
After she got the medicine, she was about to leave the hospital. Just then, she ran into another
acquaintance.
Watching the woman walking over to her, Sydney furrowed her brows, thinking to herself, ‘what a
shitty day! When I came, here came Mrs. Madden, and when I was leaving, here came Ms.
Madden. Am I doomed to meet the Maddens?’
“Ms. Raines.” rice ambled charmingly over to Sydney, carrying a small precious purse.
Sydney couldn’t resist frowning and feeling unreasonably angry at the sight of rice, who was
dressed expensively and delicately.
rice must be here because her father, Brandon, ended up in hospital again.
Brandon wasn’t in good health. It is amon urrence for him to go to hospital. This made
Sydney unsurprised to see Mrs. Madden here before.
Her father was in hospital, while rice was dressing as if she was going to be in a beauty contest.
Sydney couldn’t help but feel so sorry for Brandon being treated this way.
“Ms. Madden,” Sydney said coldly, nodding slightly.
rice came to a stop in front of Sydney. “Ms. Raines, you look a bit angry. Did I do anything
wrong? But I’ve just arrived, so I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong or even offended you, do I?”
“No, you didn’t. It’s my problem,” Sydney replied, still cold.
rice looked down at the bag in Sydney’s hand, which was stuffed with packages of medicines.
She asked in surprise, “Well, that’s quite a lot. Are you sick?”
“It’s none of your business, Ms. Madden. What do you want by stopping me? Just speak out. Or I’ve
got to leave now. I’m going to be really busy,” Sydney answered impatiently, lifting the drug bag
higher.
rice could hear that Sydney was reluctant to answer her question. There was a gleam of
displeasure shing through her eyes. Then she ruffled her hair and chuckled, "Nothing, as a matter
of fact. I just thought I should do a greeting thing when we met. By the way, I watched the press
briefing this morning.”
“Then?” Sydney raised her eyes and stared at rice indifferently.
A trace of darkness shed across the eyes of rice.
“My father doubted if you were actually his daughter, rice Madden,” saying this, rice kept her
eyes fixed on Sydney to see how she would react.
rice expected that Sydney would look shocked and feel ridiculous.
But to her surprise, Sydney reacted calmly. “What? Should I feel lucky about that?” Sydney raised
her eyes and asked.
“...No need,” rice said reluctantly, trying to smile.
‘I thought Sydney didn’t know this, but obviously she knew it. It must be Mr. Flint who told her that.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be cool on hearing it.’
“Ms. Raines, I wonder what you think of it.” rice put aside her mixed thoughts and asked again,
staring at Sydney.
Sydney wrinkled her brows tightly. “What do you think I should think of it?” she asked in reply.
rice had a strange look, her eyes gleaming. She asked further, “Don’t you think there’s a chance
that you’re truly rice?”
“What?” Sydney looked at rice with an odd expression.
rice dropped her eyes as if she didn’t notice the way Sydney was looking at her. “You were
actually adopted by your current parents. When you were little, your adoptive father took you home
and adopted you. The date of adoption happened to be the third day after rice Madden had been
stolen away, so it’s very much likely that you’re rice Madden...” she continued.
“Stop it!” Sydney’s face clouded. “What are you trying to say?”
rice clenched her fist and decided toe straight to the point. She asked slowly, “I’m trying to
know if you ever thought of yourself as rice Madden.”
rice knew exactly that what she had said would make Sydney alert.

Despite this, rice must do it. She had to find out whether Sydney had any doubts about who she
was.
If so, rice would find a way to take everything under control, right before Sydney could figure it
out.
“Why would I think of myself as rice Madden?” Sydney coldly stared at rice. She said with
undisguised boredom, “Aren’t you rice Madden? You and Brandon took a paternity test, which
has proved you’re exactly his daughter. In this case, why would I imagine myself as rice
Madden? I’m not crazy.”
rice was relieved. She couldn’t help smiling.
‘Thank God! Sydney has no doubt about who she is. The paternity test has really yed a pivotal
role.’
Just when rice was secretly rejoicing, Sydney suddenly stepped forward and bowed her head to
be closer to rice. She asked, squinting, “Ms. Madden, why did you ask me that? What on earth
do you want to know? Are you sounding something out?”
Her pupils contracting abruptly, rice hurriedly stepped back to keep away from Sydney. She also
turned her head away to avoid being watched by Sydney eye to eye. She held her fist tight and tried
to reply evenly, “Ms. Raines, I’m afraid you worry too much. I’m not trying to sound something out. I
talked nonsense just out of jealousy.”
“Out of jealousy? For what?” Sydney crossed her arms.
