Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Seeking Justice for Yuan Xi
Chu Lin merely smiled and said, “Mom, it’s nothing, just ying around.”
Yang Ying was surprised; Chu Lin was not someone to mess with. For him to pass off getting sshed with red wine as just ying around was indeed unusual.
Zhou Jiameng felt a bit anxious when she heard the words ying around.
Zhou Jiameng had been privately told by Chu Yan that both Yang Ying and Chu Qing had their hearts set on her bing the future Mrs. Chu of the Chu Family.
Over the past year, every time Zhou Jiameng invited Chu Lin out for meals, he had never turned her down, leading Zhou Jiameng to believe her position as Mrs. Chu was secure.
But upon hearing Chu Lin’s lightugh mentioning Liang Suisui, she began to feel a bit panicked.
Yuan Xi said, “It’s not ying around, Mom. It was Chu Lin who first insulted my friend. He saw my friend in Jiangye and spread rumors that she wanted to snag Gu Hanchen as a wealthy husband. Yesterday, he insulted her again, which is why she got angry and sshed the red wine on him.”
Chu Qing frowned and mmed the table, “Chu Lin, how can you be socking in manners!”
Chu Lin red at Yuan Xi.
Yuan Xi stood her ground unafraid.
Yang Ying also looked at Chu Lin with annoyance, “Chu Lin, what you did was really going too far. She’s a decent girl, and you’re saying she’s angling for a wealthy husband like Gu Hanchen. Aren’t you afraid of damaging her reputation? You don’t need topensate for the clothes, just buy a gift and go apologize in person.”
With furrowed brows, Chu Lin said, “Alright, got it.”
After dinner, Chu Lin approached Yuan Xi and said, “You sure know how to tattle.”
Yuan Xi replied, “I’m not tattling. You really did go too far. If you dislike me, juste at me. There’s no need to make things difficult for my friend.”
Chu Lin scoffed, “Make things difficult? If I wanted to make things difficult for her, would I have lost a watch I’d only worn for two days to her in a bet?”
“It’s best if you don’t make things difficult for my friend,” Yuan Xi said.
Chu Lin inquired, “Where does her family live?”
Yuan Xi frowned at Chu Lin, “What do you want to do?”
“Go to her house to apologize, as you said. If you don’t tell me, I’ll find out myself.”
Frowning, Yuan Xi still gave Chu Lin Liang Suisui’s home address.
Just like he said, even if she didn’t tell him, Chu Lin would have been able to find out.

Yuan Xi didn’t believe that Chu Lin would continue to trouble Liang Suisui after both Chu Qing and Yang Ying had spoken.
Zhou Jiameng approached Chu Lin and said, “Chu Lin, shall I go with you?”
“No need.”
Chu Lin refused Zhou Jiameng and drove off in a new sports car.
Huo Shiyan asked Yuan Xi, “Go back to the mansion or shall we check on Liang Suisui at her ce?”
Yuan Xi said, “Chu Lin wouldn’t be socking in decency as to trouble Liang Suisui at her home. Moreover, Liang Suisui’s rtives live next to her, and the factory is nearby. If Chu Lin dares to trouble Liang Suisui at her ce, he won’t get any advantage. Let’s just head back to the mansion.”
Yuan Xi hadn’t slept wellst night, and she was already a bit sleepy, so on the drive back, she dozed off.
In a daze, she dreamt of a church wedding.
Most of the vigers living around Ruohu practiced Buddhism and Taoism, while a few were Christians.
The church was built with contributions from several wealthy Christian businessmen from the nearby viges.
Located by Ruohu, with its picturesque scenery, the church was a popr venue for couples to hold their weddings.
As a child, after witnessing a church wedding, Yuan Xi and her friends entered the church and mimicked the adults, pretending to get married.
“ce your hand on the Bible, Xiao Xi. Do you take Brother Zhuangzhuang to be your husband, to have and to hold, for better or worse, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”
“I do.”
“Brother Zhuangzhuang, do you take Xiao Xi to be your wife, to have and to hold, for better or worse, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”
“I do.”
“Brother, sister is sleeping so soundly…”
The voices of children in Yuan Xi’s dream merged with reality, and when she opened her eyes, she found herself back at the Ruohu Mansion.
Yuan Xi thought to herself, she didn’t practice Christianity, so the vows made inside the church shouldn’t count.
And she had no idea where that Brother Zhuangzhuang was now.
Huo Shiyan saw that Yuan Xi had just woken up looking confused, “Had a dream? Who did you dream about?”
Yuan Xi had just woken up and without any thought said, “Brother Zhuangzhuang.”
Xiao Shihuo said, “Brother Zhuangzhuang? I don’t like Brother Zhuangzhuang; I like Xiao Mei, Shua Zi, and Grandpa Niu. I want to watch ‘Big Ear Tutu’; it’s been so long since I’ve watched cartoons!”
Huo Shiyan ignored Xiao Shihuo, who was moring to watch cartoons, and asked Yuan Xi, “What did you dream about?”
Yuan Xi certainly couldn’t tell Huo Shiyan that as a child, she had yed house and married another little boy in the church, “Just dreaming about ying in the church when I was little.”
“I also want to y in the church!”
Xiao Shihuo said on the side, “I want to y!”
After Yuan Xi slept in the car, much of her drowsiness had dissipated, “Okay, I’ll take you to y in the church.”
It’s always better to y in the church than to watch cartoons.
A five-minute drive and they arrived at the church.
Today is Sunday, and the Christians in the vige were all gathered in the church for worship.
“You are Yuan Qing’s child, right?”
Yuan Xi heard someone speaking in regional dialect, turned around, and saw a former neighbor, “Aunt, it’s me.”
Aunt Meng looked Yuan Xi up and down and said, “You’ve grown up so much, you’ve finallye back. Your aunts and uncles really aren’t good for anything. After such a big incident happened at your house back then, they drove you out of the house. Now that demolition is happening, they’ve been looking for you!”
“Looking for me?” Yuan Xi asked.
Aunt Meng said, “Yes, the vige said that the big boss in charge of the demolition saw the list and said that the house left behind by your parents has you as the primary heir, and you need to sign off on the demolitionpensation.
Now your grandfather’s family is looking for you everywhere, wanting you to sign the papers to agree to the house demolition, otherwise, your house won’t be torn down.”
Yuan Xi looked towards Huo Shiyan.
Huo Shiyan said to Yuan Xi, “That should rightfully be yours.”
Aunt Meng looked at Huo Shiyan standing next to Yuan Xi and said, “Oh my, this young man is so handsome. Is this your…”
Yuan Xi said with a light smile, “My husband.”
Aunt Meng said with a smile, “You’re married? Why didn’t you invite us for the wedding banquet?”
Huo Shiyan said, “We haven’t had the banquet yet. We will invite Aunt Meng when we do.”
Aunt Meng said with augh, “Then I’ll be waiting to toast at your wedding!”
Huo Shiyan said, “We will definitely invite Aunt Meng when the timees.”
After Aunt Meng left, Yuan Xi looked at Huo Shiyan and said, “How did you know she was Aunt Meng?”
“I heard you call her Aunt Meng just now.”
Yuan Xi was a bit puzzled, “Did I say it?”
Huo Shiyan said, “You did, don’t believe me? Ask Huohuo.”
It wasn’t necessary for Yuan Xi to dwell on whether she’d called her Aunt Meng, nor did she seek confirmation from Xiao Huo, “Was it you who said that my family’s demolition must have my signature?”
Huo Shiyan nodded, “Yes, because that was originally yours.”
Yuan Xi said, “Forget it, let them have the house… I have let go of it long ago; I don’t want to have anything to do with them anymore.”
Huo Shiyan asked Yuan Xi, “When Mr. and Mrs. Yuan died, it was the most helpless time for you, yet they took all of the inheritance that should have been yours, leaving you nothing. You might let it go, but I can’t. I need to fight for this justice for you.”
Yuan Xi bit her lower lip; she would always remember how her adoptive parents stilly in the cold mortuary, while her grandparents and their family suddenly showed their true colors.
Even the vige head and the vigers had advised them not to overdo it, but they still drove her out of the house, not even allowing Yuan Xi to mourn.
It was the vige head, her uncle, and the parents of Liang Suisui who stepped forward to allow Yuan Xi to see her parents off onest time.
Thinking back to eight years ago, Yuan Xi, who had juste of age, didn’t know how she had managed to survive…
“Shiyan, thank you.”
Huo Shiyan, “In our rtionship, you don’t need to thank me.”
Yuan Xi’s phone rang; she took out her phone and saw it was a call from Liang Suisui, “Suisui, what’s up?”
“Where are you? Hurry over to my house and take your brother away!”
