Chapter 722 Violet''s Call With Alice (Part Two)
"That''s not fair Violet. You know I''ming back alone," Alice said, in a slightly bitter tone,"I am single.
Not like you, I don''t have anyone to care about me. Poor, lonely Alice," she whined and pretended to
sob.
Alice was joking really. She knew Violet understood that this was all a y act to amuse the two of
them.
"Come on," Violet coaxed,"You won''t be alone here. Once you''re back, then you''ll be with me. Do you
remember our promise that we''re never going to part." She hoped the wordsforted Alice, because
she knew deep down she cared. Thinking of her and Alice being friends forever made Violet feel warm
inside.
"Yeah, we''ll be together forever," Alice echoed decisively.
"Have you told Uncle Derek and Aunt Amy that you''reing back?" Violet interjected.
"Nope, not yet. I wanted to tell you first. I''m nning to call themter, otherwise I''ll be in big trouble
when I get home!" she answered, making a mental note to remember to call them.
"Oh, they''ll be so pleased. I saw them the other day and they are dying for you to get back. You better
tell them today," Violet responded.
"I promise, I''m going to call themter, I''ve made a note of it," Alice responded,"Eh, your brother told
me that he won''t make it home for now. What do you make of that?" she continued tentatively.
"He just loves being away I guess, and loves the country he lives in now. I''m not sure he wants to see
me, to be honest," she faltered,"Since our parents are away, I''m the only one here and I''m not sure he
wants to be around me." She could only get the words out to Alice.
"I''d hate to think that, but him loving being abroad makes sense. Other than that, I can''t imagine
another reason why he wouldn''te back," Alice tried to reassure her.
"Well there might be one other reason," Violet countered, her eyes brightening as she thought of it.
"Oh yeah, what''s that then?" Alice enquired, curious to hear her friend''s thoughts.
"Well, perhaps he''s found ady abroad, so he has no desire toe back," Violet proffered,
convincing herself this was the case.
Greg was amused by the expression on Violet''s features; if it hadn''t been her brother, he wouldn''t have
believed that she''d made such a judgement. She was so cute in denial.
"I see, that sounds like a reasonable assumption," Alice agreed, thinking to herself, ''That makes sense.
Lawrence has always been handsome and charming, and a hit with thedies. It''s a definite possibility
that a women is keeping him there.''
"It''s definitely usible, in fact I think that must be it," Violet was repeating herself, in the hopes that it
were true.
"There are plenty of attractive women abroad, that''s true. Every girl I saw in Paris was absolutely
gorgeous, from head to toe. They all were so stylish, with such grace. Plus their make-up was perfect,
along with thetest hairstyles. Perfection!" Alice spoke admiringly, harking back to her days in Paris.
"I''m just so d that Greg only has eyes for me," Violet murmured.
Greg nced over at Violet and her benign smile made a wave of guilt wash over him. ''She doesn''t
know about Cassie. What if she knows? Is she going to go crazy at me?'' The thought made him
uneasy and he looked away.
"Yes, you have nothing to worry about Violet. Greg''s not like other men. He''s the best in the world! I
remember when we were at school, he was always on your side and protecting you. He''s such a good
man!" Alice agreed with her. ''He''s gentle, considerate and kind and most importantly, he adores Violet!
I can''t imagine anyone destroying the love you two share, '' she mulled.
"I know, he''s made me a very happy wife," Violet beamed, as Alice pouredpliments over Greg.
"Alright Violet, smug as the cat with the cream, stop preening! Think about your brother, who is so aloof
that we never hear from him, keeping a low profile on his foreign adventure," Alice chided. She knew
the brother and sister very well, and whilst Lawrence had turned out quite inconsiderate and indifferent,
Violet was still the easy-going, out-going girl she''d always been.
"We were talking about Greg and I, what made you bring Lawrence up again? He is my brother, but it
doesn''t mean we''re anything alike, so don''tpare me to him, right? I don''t care what he is like
anymore," Violet retorted, a note of upset creeping into her voice. Anger rose in her like a tsunami.
''What''s wrong with him?'' Violet wondered, ''Why doesn''t he want toe home?''
"Ok, Ok, no problem Violet, I won''t discuss your brat of a brother. We''ll chat more when I see you
tomorrow!" Alice responded. She couldn''t wait to see Violet and she didn''t want to upset her in advance
of that.
"Fine, send me a message about what time you''rending. I''ll be there to pick you up," Violet replied,

"I''ll do that now. See you tomorrow!" Alice sing-songed to her pal.
"Bye! See you then!" Violet responded, eager to get off the phone and talk to Greg.
Violet put the phone down and turned to Greg coyly, with her head on one side.
"So, Alice ising back?" he enquired. Although Greg had only heard one side of the conversation,
he''d picked up enough to know what the girls had been discussing. He knew what wasing, and
why Violet was being coquettish.
"She is! We''ve got to pick her up at the airport tomorrow afternoon, ok? Can you ask for a day off?"
Violet pleaded, making her eyes wide.
Greg pretended to consider it carefully. "Well..." he said, rubbing his chin. He wanted to see what he
could get out of this and whether Violet would bribe him.
Violet came over to him, putting her arms around his neck and brushing gently off it with her hair. She
snuggled in closer, lowering her voice. "Please say yes, honey," she cooed in his ear.
"I can take the time off. I don''t have many appointments tomorrow afternoon, but..." Greg paused,
thinking, ''Should I punish her? She said that Alice was more important than me.''
"But what darling? Just tell me, I''ll do whatever you please," Violet beseeched him. This was just what
Greg wanted. Violet gave in before he had even asked anything of her.
"Oh really? Well since you''ve mentioned it," a wry smile yed on his features as he continued,"Let''s
take a shower together together this evening, and then..."
Violet stopped him. "I know what you want," she said, thinking, ''he has been so well-behaved these
past few days. Now, he''s asking for what he wants in return."
"And, do you agree?" Greg asked, wanting to hear her say it. When he didn''t get a response, he
continued,"If you agree, I won''t go into work tomorrow."
"Well," Violet hesitated, drawing herself up from the table. She pondered on it a few moments and
came to a decision. "Take the day off from the hospital." She nodded, gazing at her husband.
Greg was thrilled. "I don''t need to ask for a holiday, I''m due them anyway." He responded, beaming at
her.
He began putting the dishes away and told Violet,"You get the bathroom ready and I''ll clean up the
kitchen."
