Chapter 613 Help Me, My Brother (Part Two)
Mike sat down next to Lawrence, took the bottle from his hand and ced it on the coffee table. Then
he said,"Lawrence, you need to calm down man! Don''t drink any more, okay?"
"If I get totally wasted, will it numb this pain I am feeling?" asked Lawrence unexpectedly.
His words took Mike and Jason by surprise. Did he really love Reba?
As time ticked by, minute after minute, the festive sounds of music andughter out in the main bar
room grew louder and louder, which was the opposite in the quiet, morose atmosphere of the private
room.
At the Chu''s family vi.
Sitting on the couch, Violet was restless and kept clicking the remote, changing the channel. Every few
minutes, she would nce at the front door and wonder, ''Where is he? Why isn''t he home yet? It''s
eight at night and school let out hours ago!''
"Would you like your dinner now, Violet? Your brother will be hometer," Lilymented respectfully
as she walked up to Violet.
"Lily, Bill went to pick Lawrence up ages ago. Why aren''t they home yet?" Lawrence always came
home early, and he was neverte, so, Violet was worried about her brother.
"I don''t know, Bill must be driving, since he hasn''t answered his cell," Lily told her, since she was
unsure what the situation was. She could only guess that Bill was either driving or going somewhere
else with Lawrence now.

Sitting there for a moment more, Violet thought about howte it was getting, and the things she still
needed to do, including finishing her homework. So, she pushed a button on the remote, clicking the
t.v. off and as she stood up stated,"Then, I will eat now, Lily. When I am done, I''ll go upstairs to do my
homework. Please, make up a te of food for Lawrence, and ask him to eat when he gets home."
"Okay," replied Lily.
After she finished the meal Lily had prepared, Violet went upstairs to do her homework.
Knowing Violet would be afraid to be upstairs alone with Bill and Lawrence still gone, Lily apanied
her. She didn''t go back to her small room at the back of the vi until Violet was finished with her
shower and had fallen asleep.
A little whileter, Violet woke with a start, confused and said quietly in the empty room,"I want a ss
of water. I am thirsty."
Squinting in the dark room, Violet sat up in the bed, pushed the quilt off her, and climbed down, groping
to flick the light switch on, that she knew was next to the bed.
ncing down at the empty ss on the table, Violet realized if she wanted a drink of water, she would
have to go downstairs and get it from the pitcher in the dining room.
Violet crept to the door, and opened it, then, cup in hand, she quietly headed down the stairs.
The moonlight streaming through the window was faint, but, Violet used it, and the railing to slowly
descend the stairs. She nned to turn the light on in the living room, but, when she saw there was
moonlight pouring into the dining room, and she could make her way without more light, Violet decided
she could get her water from the table without it.
Having grown up in the vi, Violet was familiar withyout, and could make out the shadowy pieces of
furniture to avoid as she headed to the dining room.
So, deciding against turning on the light, Violet headed to the dining room table. She stood on her
tiptoes to reach the heavy pitcher filled with water. Violet had seen Lily pouring sses of water for
herself and her family.
Violet struggled with the pitcher, but, she didn''t stop until her cup was half full.
cing therge pitcher back on the table, Violet reached for her ss of water, so she could drink it
down and get back to bed.
Her hand trembled as she reached for her ss sitting on the edge of the table. Water sloshed out of
the ss as it tumbled through the air.
''Cra-ack, '' came the loud shrill sound of ss shattering as it hit the floor.
Shellshocked, Violet just stood there, even when her senses came back enough to feel the sharp,
throbbing stab in her ankle.
Violet hadn''t even touched her cup before it teetered and fell. When she looked down, to see how bad
the mess was, the light from the moon shone onto the blood covering her foot.
At the sight of her blood, Violet let loose an ear-piercing shriek,"Aaaaaack!" as panic set in on her
heart. She stumbled back. When her slippered feet touched the spilled water, with broken shards of
ss in it, she flinched, trying to catch her bnce, and failing, she slipped. Her legs went into the air
as shended hard, face upward on the floor.
Pieces of ss surrounded her, slivers of ss were under her, as Violety there on the cold, wet
floor.
"Eeeek!" Violet screeched, once again feeling pain in her ankle and a new pain, griping her back. The
thin pajamas couldn''t stop the water that was quickly being soaked up, and she could feel the tiny
pieces of ss pushing into her back.
Violet tried to move to escape the torment, and immediately felt the pain of more ss ripping through
her flesh. Scared, Violet didn''t dare try to move again, andy still.
Laying on the floor, she looked up at the moonlighting through the window and cried,"Dad! Mom!
Help me! Brother? Lawrence, help me!"
There were still a few pedestrians on the road that night, and Bill looked at them as he passed them
slowly, looking for Lawrence. He had spent an hour waiting outside the school that afternoon. Bill called
Lawrence''s cell, but, no one picked up. Then Bill went to the school and asked about Lawrence, but
none of the teachers knew, and all the students had left by then. Bill contacted the school leaders, who
then reached out students who had returned home. One of Lawrence''s ssmates said that Lawrence
left during activity ss in the afternoon. So, Bill and the school leaders checked the video footage of
the school gate and saw Lawrence leaving early in the afternoon with other two students.
