"Jackson, do you mean I have no choice but to be a daughter-inw of the Chu Family?" Cherry asked
yfully.
"That''s exactly what I mean, " Jackson said decidedly. ''When I decided to marry her, I made up my
mind to keep her as mine for this lifetime, '' he thought to himself.
"There''s nothing Jackson wants that he can''t get. So you''re bound to get back to him sooner orter, "
Derek said, chuckling. ''What an interesting and romantic conversation, '' he thought.
"Jackson, thank you for loving me, " Cherry told her husband affectionately. She looked on him with
great adoration.
"My little fool, " Jackson replied lovingly. He stroked Cherry''s hair gently. This moment, right here, he
knew he was the happiest man in the world. ''I have a warm, loving family, and I live with them, my
doting wife and darling son. They are the people I love most on this earth, '' he thought as his fingers
wound through Cherry''s long hair.
Derek pretended to cough. "Please, I''m still here, " he remarked bashfully, turning his head away.
"You know, Derek, after you and Amy get married, you two might be in such a close rtionship just
like ours now, " Cherry joked. ''Derek hasn''t felt the happiness that such a close rtionship like ours
brings. They''ve only seen each other a few times. Once they''re spending more time together, he''ll be
immersed in the sweetness that love brings.''
"Maybe, " Derek casually responded, pretending not to care.
The three of them continued to chat in the living room, awaiting Derek''s fiancee to finish her piano
lesson with Joe.
Once her tutoring time was over, Amy returned downstairs. She smiled as she noticed the three of
them were talking cheerfully and humorously, and she walked towards them.
"What are you talking about?" Amy asked, taking a seat beside Derek.
"Amy, as Derek''s fiancee, I hope you can teach him a lesson, " Cherry joked, a sly smile spreading her
lips.
"And what is it?" Amy asked, yet to notice Cherry''s expression. Derek grew uneasy beside Amy. ''I can''t
lose my good image in front of Amy. She needs to know I''m a perfect man.''
"Did he offend you?" Amy asked, growing concerned. She finally saw Cherry''s smile and realised it was
a joke.
"Yes, he did, " Cherry pouted. "He attacked me with words." She looked at Jackson for confirmation.
"Right, Jackson?"
Jackson nodded at Cherry, a faint smile adorning his lips.
"Cherry, stop making fun of me, " Derek begged anxiously. He looked at his best friend. "Jackson, " he

Jackson''s smile grew as he nced at Cherry.
"Okay, fine. I yield, " Derek sighed.
Amy knew that Derek was at a disadvantage. "Cherry, you''re ying a trick now, aren''t you?" Amy said
as she watched the good chemistry between Jackson and his wife.
"You got me, " Cherry replied, sticking her tongue out and winking at Amy.
"Your eyes gave it away. Besides, Derek wasn''t teasing, " Amy continued.
Hearing Amy''s defense, he held her tight to him. "I''m d you''re on my side. I''m not their match, " he
said excitedly, looking down at Amy in his arms with affection.

"Are you two working together now?" Cherry asked, grinning. "I''m your best friend, Amy, " she
continued. "You should take my side."
"And I''m her future husband, who else should she side with?" Derek retorted immediately as he turned
to Cherry.
"Oh, Cherry, it''s more than enough for you to have Jackson at your side. I dare not steal his ce, "
Amy replied diplomatically. She smiled at her best friend.
This pleased Cherry and Jackson both. Derek, however, was the most cheerful of the three. ''This
means that she cares for me, '' he thought gleefully.
"You are right, I suppose. It is enough to have Jackson at my side, " Cherry acquiesced, grinning at
Jackson. "I guess I''ll allow you to back Derek, " she continued, as she turned to look at Amy.
It pleased Jackson to indulge his wife and see her ying tricks.
Derek and Amy locked eyes, giving each other sweet smiles.
Checking his watch, Derek looked at their gracious hosts. "Well, it''s gettingte. I''ll drive Amy home to
her apartment. You two should head to bed early, " Derek suggested.
"Good idea. See youter, " Cherry agreed. She stood up and squeezed Amy''s hand lightly. "Amy,
don''t stay up toote. Take care and don''t work too hard, " she smiled sweetly.
"I will. You too. You need to take good care of yourself, looking after Joe and all that, " Amy returned
with genuine concern.
"Got it, " Cherry responded.
Cherry and Jackson walked the engaged couple to the gate. Once Derek and Amy got inside Derek''s
car, Cherry and Jackson returned to their house.
Derek talked with Amy while driving.
"How was your day?" Derek asked gently.
"Fine. Teaching Joe is an easy job. He is a quick learner, so I don''t get a headache while teaching him,
unlike some of my other students. Sometimes he is even more considerate than I am. If all my students
could be like Joe, my job would be much easier, " Amy replied, a delighted smile on her face. She
couldn''t help but feel d at the thought of Cherry''s son. ''He is a good student, and such a kid is rare
these days.''
"Yeah, he is. Joe inherited all his father''s merits. Such a clever boy, " Derek echoed. "But don''t push
yourself so hard. If you feel tired, you can stick with just teaching Joe, and quit or postpone your other
tutoring jobs."
"That''s a good idea. I might consider itter. I can handle all my work for the moment, " Amy replied.
It wasn''t long before they arrived at Amy''s apartment. Parking outside, Amy lingered in her seat. "Are
youing with me?" she asked.
Her invite surprised Derek. ''Of course I''d like to. But I couldn''t actively ask to visit her house until she
asked first, '' he thought.
"Do you mean that?" he asked aloud. He was overjoyed inside.
Amy nodded in agreement and looked at him with a smile.
"Okay, " he agreed. He removed his car key and got out of the car with Amy.
They walked hand-in-hand into the apartment building together.
