Chapter 478 We Are The Same (Part Two)
A deep, long breath helped him to adjust his emotions and he went to the windows. He removed his
coat and gazed at the scenery beyond the ss. His emotions in check now, he wondered whether he
should go on with his n. Now, Cherry was pregnant and Jackson had never hated him. Should Mond
still go on taking his revenge? Was it still meaningful for him to take revenge? No one would y the
game with him anymore, how would he choose his next move?
Mond was sure when he assumed that Jackson didn''t spirit Cherry away wasn''t because Jackson
cared so little for his wife. Instead it was because Jackson knew Mond too well, believing that Mond
would never hurt Cherry. Once Sally had left, Cherry was indeed safe here. If anyone else had
imprisoned Cherry, Jackson would havee to her rescue at once.
Barely able to contain his eagerness, Joe ran into Mond''s house once Jean had opened the door. Joe
ran to Cherry, crying cheerfully: "Mommy, Mommy!"
"Joe, Mommy''s right here, " Cherry turned to see her beautiful son running towards her. She almost
cried with happiness at seeing him.
Jackson and Cherry''s son finally reached his Mommy and hugged her tightly. She squeezed back and
the two of them enjoyed the warmth of each other''s embrace.
"Mommy, why won''t youe back home?" Joe asked, a small hint of whining to his voice. "I miss you
so much!"
"Oh, darling, Mommy misses you too. That''s why I asked Aunt Jean to drive you here. You''re going to
stay here with me tonight, " she told her boy, kissing his head.
"That''s excellent. If I''m with you, Mommy, anywhere is okay, " Joe looked up at her, happiness reaching
even the furthest corners of his face.
He snuggled against his mother for a while. When he finally left her embrace, he began to look around
this house he had been taken to. The decorations amazed him and he studied them in wonder.
"Mommy, it''s as beautiful as our house."
"Joe, this is Uncle Mond''s house, " Cherry exined.
"I know, " Joe nodded. "Aunt Jean told me on the way here. This house is great."
Mond, this time in a new shirt, returned down the stairs.
"Joe, please greet Uncle Mond, " Cherry directed. She believed children should be polite to adults, no
matter what was going on between the adults. Even though there were conflicts with Mond, that was
nothing to do with Joe.
"Uncle Mond, it''s nice to see you, " Joe did as his Mommy asked.
Mond epted Joe''s greeting and approached him a little. "Well, wee to my home, " he said
calmly. He didn''t smile, but he was polite enough. They were, after all, both Chu Family''s offspring.
Grinning a little, Joe looked up at Mond. "Thanks, Uncle Mond." He looked at Cherry. "Mommy, I would
like to do my homework now. Will youe with me?"
Cherry took her son''s hand and smiled. "Okay, let''s do the homework in the room, " she answered.
Turning towards Mond, she prepared to speak. But Mond beat her to the punch.
"Just go with him, I will call you when dinner is ready." Cherry''s fleeting smile warmed his heart a little,
making him realise that he would be satisfied if she smiled every day.
Mond had already known what she had nned to say, and he allowed her to do what she liked.
Cherry rxed and nodded. "Okay, we''ll go to my room."
Mond nodded.
Hand-in-hand, Cherry and Joe walked to her room and closed the door behind them.
The sound of the door closing made Mond remember he should go to the living room.
Jean offered Mond a cup of water.
Without a word, Mond epted the cup from Jean.
Jean sat beside Mond. "Joe is a good boy, you''ll like him, " she noted aloud. Mond''s expression told
her he loved children. Although Joe was Cherry''s son, Jean was sure that Mond would like him too.
Having stayed with Mond for so many years, Jean knew that Mond''s coldness was due to his decidedly
not-happy childhood. And for Mond, family was like taboo: no one dared mention it in front of him.
Casually taking a drink from the cup, he then set the cup on the table. He looked at Jean and asked,
"Why will I like him?"
"Because he calls you Uncle, " Jean told him without looking at him. Lost in her thoughts, she spoke
again. "Every time Joe calls me Aunt, my heart fills with happiness. His smile, his vibrancy, and his
childishness impresses me. Maybe it''s because we want to go back to our childhood, but can''t."
A strong sadness slowly entered her tone as she continued to speak. "I may never have a child of my
own. Joe is so cute. When I see him, I can''t love him any more than I do. As his aunt, I''m one of his
family members, ain''t I?"
Mond gazed at Jean''s face. He couldn''t read her thoughts through her expression, but he felt there was
a deep scar in her heart and it would remain forever. Maybe she had suffered the grief of loss and so
she knew the importance of treasuring what we had.
"Don''t you hate them?" Mond asked suddenly.
Averting her eyes, she knew who he was referring to. She shook her head. "Could my hate improve my
situation? "If it can''t, keeping good rtions with each other may be the best way. "I used to treat my
sister badly. What position am I in to hate her?"
Jean''s words silenced Mond and he simply gazed out the windows silently.
She waited for his reply, and turned to him. ''Although he has a childlike face, there are many secrets
behind it. Secrets beyond my capability of imagining. But he is the man that saved me from the bad life
and I should be grateful.''
Recalling her former life, how she used to try to charm and seduce any rich or powerful men to tter
her own vanity. This destructive behaviour of hers destroyed the love between Cherry and John. Once
she had John, she thought Jackson was more charming and so she tried to seduce Jackson. What''s
more, she also wanted to be Mond''s lover.
Jean was much calmer now, not as vainglorious as she had once been. She knew how to treat those

around her. She didn''t automatically try to get powerful and rich men before her. Instead, she would try
to get along with them. Just like how she saw Mond, calmly seeing him as her benefactor, the man who
had once helped her. She should thank him for the rmendation he had offered her. As for the
future, she would think about it with a clear mind and then make a decision.
"Mond, I don''t know what you''ve suffered. But I want to advice you to let the bad things go. Keeping
them in your mind does no good, " she spoke softly andfortingly. She wanted to help him realise
there will be many good days waiting for him in the future, so he shouldn''t live in the darkness of hatred
anymore.
Anger shing in his eyes, Mond turned violently to Jean. "Jean Shen, " he shouted, "You''re in no
position to lecture me!"
Jean shrank a little and sighed. "I don''t aim to lecture you. I just want to share my feelings with you,
because I have also suffered the sadness of this kind. I hope that you don''t experience it again."
"You may have suffered something, but our experiences are different! Never try to persuade me again,
" Mond chastised her. But in fact, the iceberg of his mind had already melted and he wasn''t as
determined as before. But he wasn''t willing to admit that. He could only rely on his cold expression to
protect his weakness from being discovered by Jean. He wanted to forget the sadness. But how? What
should he do next? Should he give up his revenge?
Jean eyeballed him. "We are the same in one thing in particr at least, " she said firmly, "I once hated
Cherry, as you hate Jackson now!"
As soon as she finished talking, Mond fixated on her. He had known that Jean knew something about
him. After all, no matter how well he pretended, there were still ws in his performance. But he was
still shocked that she could understand his inner thoughts.
