?Chapter 386:

    ?? ?? ?? ?? ??

“Do you really think I could’ve called you when I was unconscious for days?” His tone was unmistakable, ced with sarcasm. “You im you were worried, but you only called me once.”

Hoyt’s smile was icy, filled with contempt.

Mny stayed silent, inwardly fuming at how absurd he was being.

She had only said what she thought he wanted to hear, but this idiot actually believed she meant it.

She fought the urge to roll her eyes but instead put on an innocent, vulnerable expression. “Hoyt, you’ve misunderstood. Colton’s been keeping tabs on me. He checks my phone constantly,” Mny murmured, sniffling for effect. “I had to sneak out just to call you from the Underground. Don’t forget, I’m stillmitted to our n.”

Hoyt’s eyes narrowed, suspicious. “Has Ken shown up yet?”

If Ken wasn’t at the event, their n would fall apart entirely.

Hoyt nced at his battered body with a dark, brooding expression. He med Ken for everything, especially the ident that had left him in this pitiful state. Ken was like a curse, always leaving disaster in his wake.

“Not yet,” Mny replied, frowning. “Almost all thepetitors are anonymous, wearing helmets, masks, disguises everywhere. Finding Ken in this crowd is like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

She scanned the scene around her. It was chaotic, and though it would be easy to make subtle moves, targeting someone specific was nearly impossible.

But Hoyt wasn’t deterred. He sneered, “Don’t worry. Mask or not, Ken won’t be able to resist going after the prize.” Thinking of his injuries only fueled his hatred. Even his own father had been disgusted when visiting him in the hospital, calling him a useless idiot.

The word echoed in Hoyt’s mind, burning him with rage.

Useless idiot? He would prove to his father that Ken was the real useless one.

“I’ve hidden a timed bomb in the prize. It’s set to go off after a certain time. No one can stop it.”

Hoyt was betting everything on the idea that Ken wouldn’t walk away without the prize.

And even if Ken did lose, it wouldn’t matter, as he wouldn’t be the one facing death.

Mny’s heart raced in shock. She hadn’t expected Hoyt to go this far, to actually n to kill someone.

Hesitantly, she asked, “What if someone else ends up with the prize?”

“They’ll just have to consider themselves unlucky,” Hoyt responded coldly, his voice devoid of remorse.

The car ident had left him paralyzed, and now his father dismissed him as a useless man, while his mother ridiculed him for being a fool.

But Hoyt didn’t believe he was the problem.

To him, the world was at fault.

Whoever took the prize would pay the price.

Mny remained quiet, grappling with the weight of his words. She couldn’t afford to jeopardize her future over this.
