Chapter 240 Nothing on Cormac

Aurora had been with Cormac for days but still knew nothing about him.

She was afraid that asking him about his past might upset him, so she never did.

"I''m a psychologist, but I know some surgery basics. Treating minor injuries is no big deal."

"Wow, that''s awesome!" Aurora''s eyes lit up. "You can do both surgery and psychology. That''s incredible!"

Aurora was amazed. "It''s not that impressive, just a bit of knowledge."

"Why aren''t you practicing as a doctor anymore?" Aurora asked, confused. "Being a doctor is so noble. Why do hardbor now? My dad had to because he didn''t study much. But you''re so talented; why?" Aurora couldn''t get it. Honestly, no one would.

"No special reason. Just didn''t want to be a doctor anymore," Cormac said.

Aurora didn''t know the details but sensed asking more would make him sad. So she quickly said, "If being a doctor isn''t for you, then forget it. Your happiness is what matters." Cormac was surprised. He smiled, tapped her head, and said, "You''re quite the smooth talker."

    Aurora just giggled.

"But don''t overwork yourself. If you get sick, it''ll be a problem." Aurora was genuinely scared because of her dad, Matthew.

    Cormac nodded. "Got it."

"My schooling doesn''t cost much now. When I get to high school, I can work part-time, and you won''t have to worry about college. I''ll get a schrship."

Aurora was always diligent and believed she''d get a full schrship.

"So don''t overwork. My dad got sick from overworking and staying upte. I don''t want you to end up like him. I want you to live a long life."

Cormac smiled warmly. "Alright, with your blessings, I will."

    "Yes." Aurora nodded firmly.

For Cormac, these days, though tough, felt more meaningful.

In his past luxurious life, he didn''t know his goals. He was just getting by, which was dull.

After a long day, ric went to Reassuring Clinic to pick up Sten. When he arrived, she was still busy with patients.

ric watched her work. Seeing her in her white coat was captivating.

Finally, Sten finished and stretched. ric asked, "Busy day?"

"Yes, lots of patients today, some from out of town. It''s ttering," Sten said.

"Your reputation as a healer is growing. More people wille to you," ric said, pulling her close. "You need help. You can''t do it all alone, or you''ll wear yourself out." "You''re right," Sten said. "Let''s go home. We haven''t seen Caspian, Harry, and Elisa in two days. I miss them."

"Me too," ric replied. "I think about the kids all the time."

Sten closed the clinic, and they got in the car.

"Gtea, remember Brennan''s old assistant, Derek?" ric asked.

    "Yeah, did you find him?"

"We know where he works now. It''s a bit far, but I can have someone contact him," ric said.

Sten was surprised they found Derek so quickly. She was nervous, wanting to uncover the truth about the Storm family''s bankruptcy but also scared of what they might find. "Your clinic just opened. We can wait a few days. Derek won''t disappear," ric said.

"Let''s see him this weekend," Sten decided. "It''s better if I go personally. Your people might scare him."

"I get it," ric said. "I''ll go with you this weekend."

"No need, you''re busy with the entertainment center opening. I can go alone..."

"Nothing''s more important than this. It''s settled."

Sten was pleased with ric''s insistence. "Alright. Thanks, honey."

    ricughed, "My pleasure."

Sten then remembered something. "Any news about Cormac?"

They had found Derek, but still no word on Cormac.

"No," ric sighed. "Nothing on Cormac."

"Arizona''s tough for Cormac. Maybe he really left," Sten said.

"Griffon''s case goes to trial next month. I wonder if Cormac wille back," ric added.

    "Next month? So soon?"

"Yeah, with my influence, the court sped things up."

"Any idea on Griffon''s sentencing?" Sten asked.

"No, but it won''t be light," ric sighed. "Griffon doesn''t care about the sentence. Since Orion died, he has no will to live."

"He only cares about Orion, not Cormac. He doesn''t even ask about Cormac after the bankruptcy."

ric had asked Griffon about this during hisst visit. He felt it was unfair to Cormac and felt guilty.

"Let''s not talk about Cormac. No news is good news," Sten said, noticing ric''s difort. "Cormac is a good guy. He''ll be okay. Let''s go home and see Caspian, Harry, and Elisa."

ric agreed and drove home. When they entered, they didn''t see the kids. Instead, they saw Marigold.

Marigold looked gloomy. Sten was a bit flustered. Marigold had just epted her in the morning. Had she changed her mind already?
