Chapter 112 A Disgrace

Gtea waited untilte at night, but those bad guys never appeared. They must''ve just bluffed to scare her.

She returned home and took a shower. Entering the bedroom, she noticed ric''s darkened lounge through the window. Had he been absent for the past few days? Another day passed, and Cormac didn''te today, either. ric was truly bored. He grabbed his phone and scrolled through it, but there was still nothing. "Gtea, you damn woman. You''re really carefree right now!"

She said she''d end their rtionship, and now she waspletely ignoring him. What gave her the guts? Was she still thinking of getting back with Ambrose? No way! He grabbed his phone and called Cormac. Thetter had gone through a busy day, and he just fell asleep. Seeing that ric was calling, he was ready to curse. "Dude, can you let people sleep at this ungodly hour?"

ric was now in the hospital, and there were experienced doctors taking care of him. He wasn''t worried about his health.

"What about the information I asked you to find? Did you find anything?"

Cormac replied, "I really was busy all day, and tomorrow is my mom''s chemotherapy day. I''ll call Gtea."

"Okay, call me immediately once you find out." After saying that, ric reminded, "And if you mention my hospitalization to her even for a split secondd, I''ll ruin you!" "Got it." After hanging up, Cormac couldn''t help butin, "As if she''d care even if she knew."

    ---

The next day, Gtea sent her children to school as usual. Then, she looked at the note on her phone calendar. She was supposed to handle Ravenna''s chemotherapy today. "Stanley, I can''t make it today. You can lock up the ce when you''re done," she called one of the construction workers and exined the situation.

Afterward, she was about to go to the roadside to hail a cab when her phone rang again. It was Cormac.

    "Hello, Cormac," she said.

"Gtea, today is my mom''s chemo day, I''ll need your help," Cormac said.

She replied, "I know; I was just about to take a cab over."

"You don''t have to. Where are you now? I''lle pick you up," he said.

After thinking for a moment, she agreed, "Alright, I''m at the intersection near the school."

She stood there, waiting. In truth, she didn''t really want to see Cormac now since he was ric''s friend. However, she didn''t want to be difficult. When Cormac''s car arrived, Gtea got into the back seat.

"After you helped my mom with the chemost time, her mood improved a lot. She''s really grateful to you," he said appreciatively.

"I just did what I should; you don''t need to thank me," she said.

"I only asked for your help first because you''re good at medicine, but you refused anypensation. I feel embarrassed about that," he said, expressing his gratitude to her. "It''s just giving a chemo shot every few days; not something so tiring. Besides, I have spare time at home right now," she replied.

"Although you say that, I still feel guilty for the constant trouble. Why don''t I treat you to lunch today?" he suggested.

Since ric had entrusted him with a task, and most importantly, as his friend, Cormac felt like he needed to intervene and help them reconcile as soon as possible. "You don''t have to be so polite, Cormac. It''s really no big deal," Gtea directly refused. They weren''t close, so it''d be inappropriate to have a meal together.

Despite that, he insisted, "It''s just one meal; take it as me showing my thanks."

    "Alright," she finally agreed.

Later on, he dropped her off at the Nash family''s house. Orion wasn''t there this time, only Griffon. The father and son had deep conflicts, hardly ever speaking to each other. "Auntie, your mental state seems much better this timepared to before. You need to maintain this and not let your mind wander," Cormac said.

Hearing this, Mrs. Ravenna smiled and said, "I finally understand why ric likes you. Orion has been spoiled since she was young, with a particrly bad temper. If only she had half of your gentleness, she''d be better." After a few interactions, Gtea quite liked Mrs. Ravenna. Likewise, Mrs. Ravenna also liked her.

She lightly replied, "Everyone just has different personalities."

"Cormac," Mrs. Ravenna said to Cormac, "I don''t have enough energy to thank Gtea properly. Make sure you do it for me."

He quickly answered, "I will, Mom."

After Gtea finished injecting Mrs. Ravenna, she had an unusually strong reaction this time. She vomited for a while, being too weak to stay awake afterward as she fell asleep.

"Why was her reaction so severe this time?" Cormac was worried.

"That''s normal; just let her rest well. After the first chemo phase, if the results are good, Mrs. Ravenna will gradually recover. Don''t worry," Gtea assured him. "Okay."

With Cormac apanying her this time, Griffon couldn''t talk to her separately, which made her quite relieved. Every time she had one conversation with him, she felt like she was facing a strong enemy. After leaving the Nash family''s residence, Cormac asked her, "What do you feel like eating? Italian or Japanese cuisine?"

"Either one is fine," Gtea replied.

"Then let''s go for Italian food." The awkwardness could be avoided if each person was focusing on their dish.

He brought her to an Italian restaurant, and they sat facing each other by the window.

Once they were seated, Cormac began probing. "What have you been busy withtely? Since your body''s still recovering, you probably can''t work at Serenity Heights Medical Center anymore, right?" "Yes," she answered. "I can''t work there anymore, so I recently rented a shop and n to open a clinic."

"You''re going to open a clinic?" he was surprised. "That''s great, but opening one needs a major investment, right? If you need any financial help, feel free to let me know."

"Thank you, but that''s unnecessary. I already have the funds."

"Look at me, going the extra mile. You''re ric''s fiancee, so why would you need my help with funds?"

Perhaps not wanting others to think she was spending ric''s money, Gtea truthfully exined, "I didn''t tell him about opening a clinic."

    "But what about the money..."

She replied, "A bank loan. I already got one, and the ce is currently being renovated."

Hearing this, Cormac smiled-perhaps enjoying ric''s misfortune. If ric found out his woman would rather do a bank loan than spend his money, it''d be a great embarrassment. "Cormac, could you please not tell ric about this?" she asked.

"No problem," Cormac agreed, then tentatively asked, "Did you fight with him?"
