Chapter 076 Ambrose Vale
Gtea woke up to find herself alone in bed, clothes intact, a wave of relief washing over her. A frantic nce at the clock revealed it was just past seven.Where had that man gone?
She got out of bed and walked out of the resting room, only toe face-to-face with the leading team at Nexus Innovations.
Despite her clothes being in order, it was clear that she had just woken up. Emerging from ric''s room in this condition was sure to create the wrong impression.
"Good morning, Dr. Hartley."
Gtea wanted nothing more than to vanish into thin air, but at that moment, Ss Moon stepped forward and said, "Mr. ric is already in the conference room. We have a morning meeting starting soon, but Mr. ric has instructed the kitchen to prepare breakfast for you."
"Oh," Gtea murmured, head hanging low, and quickly retreated back to her resting room, shutting the door behind her.
This was mortifying!
Her recent appearance in front of everyone, and they were all ric''s subordinates, was disastrous.
Rubbing her hair frantically, Gtea was utterly embarrassed. Without a doubt, soon enough the whole of Nexus Innovations would hear about their night together.
Afterposing herself for what felt like an eternity and making sure the coast was clear, Gtea went from the resting room to the dining room. There, just as Ss had mentioned, the chef had her breakfast ready. Filled with emotion, she grasped a fork and stabbed at her sandwich with unnecessary force.
Soon enough, the dining room door swung open, and there stood ric, sporting a smile that clearly took pleasure in her difort. "Heard you made quite the sleepy-eyed impression on my staff this morning?" The urge to hurl the fork his way, aiming for his smug face, was strong, but Gtea restrained herself.
"It does not matter," ric said casually, sitting down across from her. "It''s no secret that you''re my fiancée. Adults understand these things."
"ric Knight, shut up!" Gtea snapped back, a mix of anger and embarrassment in her tone.
ric couldn''t help butugh, then he added, "I have an important client to meetter, and I''ll probably have lunch with them. You''reing with me." Gavin had scheduled to meet with ric that morning to discuss the specifics of a coboration, and they were inevitably going to have lunch together. "I''m not going," Gtea dered. "He''s your business partner, what do I have to do there?"
"As my fiancée, you should meet my business partners," ric countered.
"Didn''t you say there will be some kind of opening ceremony or celebration banquetter on? I can go then. If I have to show up every time you have a meal with a client, I''ll be exhausted," Gtea muttered inint. "Alright then," ric acquiesced, raising a hand in surrender. "You''re not feeling all the way better yet. If you don''t want to go, I won''t force you."
"Thank you, my dear and generous fiancé!" Gtea said, intentionally stressing her gratitude.
''This sardonic little woman!''
"Mr. ric, the front desk called to say Mr. Gavin has arrived," Ss reported respectfully as he walked in.
ric nced at the clock, noting that it was still over forty minutes until the time they''d agreed on. The guest was obviously eager to start. "Tell the front desk to take him to the lounge," he instructed.
"Sure, Mr. ric."
After Ss left, ric said to Gtea, "Our client''s here. I have to go busy myself. Take your time with breakfast."
"Mhm," was Gtea''s only reply. She didn''t even look up,zily acknowledging him as she continued her breakfast.
Once ric had stepped out, Gtea immediately made a face and muttered, "Yeah, hurry off to your business!"
Having finished her breakfast, Gtea intended to head home to continue responding to her online consultations when her phone rang with an unfamiliar number. "Hello?"
"Is this Gtea Hartley?" The voice on the other end, belonging to Cormac Nash, sounded anxious. "I''m Cormac Nash. I''m in a bit of a bind and need to consult with you. Can we meet? Are you avable?" Cormac had an urgent issue to discuss with her?
"Yes," she replied. "Meet me at the coffee shop downstairs from Nexus Innovations. I''ll wait for you there."
"Okay, I''ll be right there."
What could Cormac possibly need urgently? Gtea couldn''t guess. All she could do was quickly gather her things and leave the restaurant.
After stepping out, Gtea pressed the elevator button.
As the doors slid open, she entered. Simultaneously, the adjacent elevator doors also opened.
"Mr. Vale, right this way."
As the elevator doors closed behind Gtea, the receptionist apanied Ambrose Vale out of the other elevator and headed towards the reception room.
He was quite interested in meeting ric and was somewhat surprised when he actually did.
Ambrose stood tall in a slick ck suit, plemented by a light-colored tie and sses perched on his nose. He exuded an elegant, aristocratic charm that captivated those around him, embodying the sophisticated yet rebellious allure often admired by women.
"Good to meet you, Mr. ric," said Ambrose as he entered the reception room, extending his hand to ric. "I''ve always wanted to visit Mr. ric. Finally, seeing you in person, I must say you''re even more impressive than the magazines suggest a hundred times so."
"You''re too kind," replied ric, shaking his hand politely.
After the handshake, ric gestured for him to sit down, and Ambrose took a seat across from him.
"Mr. ric, here''s a detailed partnership proposal I''ve prepared for you to peruse," Ambrose offered as he handed over the proposal.
ric nced at it and could tell how much effort had gone into it, with meticulous attention to all aspects of the architectural nning.
"Quite good," ricmented approvingly, then set the proposal aside for the moment. "As far as I know, this is the first project operated by Far East International since its inception."
"That''s correct," Ambrose responded. "Although Far East International is newly established, it''s part of therger Far East Group. Finding partners abroad isn''t exactly effortless, but it''s certainly within reach.
"We had several projects set tounch simultaneously overseas, but when I heard Mr. ric was nning to build thergest amusement city in Arizona, I dropped those other endeavors.
"I''ve dedicated all my energy to your project and am especially grateful for the trust you''ve ced in Far East International. Rest assured, we will deliver a result that will meet, if not exceed, your expectations."
"I can tell you are reallymitted to this project," ric said. "What I''m curious about is why you would put all his eggs in one basket with Nexus Innovations, especially since Far East International isn''t short on projects."
Just as Ambrose had indicated, he had turned down international projects to focus on the Nexus Innovations bid, and if he didn''t win the contract, it would be a double loss-like losing his wife and his soldiers.
"Companies need to think about the long run if they want to develop," Ambrose answered. "Instead of sitting back and enjoying small, fortable profits, why not take a leap of faith? I believe if you were in my shoes, you would make the same choice."
In just a few sentences, one could see the ambition and boldness hidden beneath Ambrose''s refined exterior.
This man was no simple character...
