Harry''s words rendered ric speechless and kept him awake all night as they reyed in his mind.
He had decided to get a marriage certificate with Gtea and she had refused him. He was indeed angry, but now that he had calmed down, he realized that it was purely his own forceful decision. Regardless, Gtea had just been discharged from the hospital. It wasn''t right to leave her alone on the sidewalk, let alone in the rain.
ric, what''s wrong with you? You''re worse than a child!
Because of her frail health, Gtea slept until the next morning. Caspian, incredibly worried, had waited eagerly for her to wake.
"Mom, you awake?" he asked as soon as he saw her stir.
Gtea nodded.
"Mom, how are you feeling? Are you still in pain?"
"No, I''m alright now. Just need to rest and heal slowly," Gtea said slowly. "I''ll need to stay home for a while. Mia will definitely catch on, but I''ll find a way to keep it from Elisa. Don''t tell her, alright?" "I know," Caspian replied, pausing for a moment before gathering the courage to ask, "Mom, did you get the marriage certificate with ric?"
"What? Why would Harry suddenly ask that?" Gtea wondered, noticing the reaction. Caspian seemed to already know the answer but quickly exined, "Mom, I was just asking."
Gtea smiled and said, "Don''t worry, Harry. When I decide to get married, I''ll definitely let you know in advance, okay?"
"Okay."
Caspian did feel a bit down. He wasn''t sure whether his dad had changed his mind or if his mom hadn''t agreed. It wasn''t his ce to ask more.
At least for now, he was content to be by his mom''s side. Since he became Caspian again, he had thought he wouldn''t see his mom anymore. "Come on, hurry up and have breakfast. Get ready for school, or you''ll bete."
"Okay!" Now, back as Harry, Caspian looked forward to sitting next to Elisa in ss again.
After the two kids finished their breakfast, Mia saw them out the door. Harry had also finished his breakfast, which ric had cooked himself.
"Let''s go, Caspian. I''ll take you to school," ric said, reaching for the backpack, but Harry snatched it away, saying, "No need. You can assign a driver to me." "You don''t want Dad to take you?"
"No more. I still prefer the driver Uncle to take me." Harry said, shouldering his backpack and walking out.
ric had no choice but to arrange a driver as Harry headed to school. Meanwhile, ric, holding Gtea''s phone, felt vexed.
He wanted to see Gtea, but after being rejected for a marriage certificate the day before, it would be too embarrassing to show up. Better to leave her alone for a day.
So ric drove to the office. It had been more than a month since hisst visit and the sudden return had the employees on their toes. "Good morning, Mr. ric!"
As he walked by, the employees greeted him respectfully. Once in his office, ric immediately instructed Ss Moon, "Send the word out. We have a meeting now."
The bids for the entertainment city project had been dyed over a month and could not be put off any longer.
The meetingsted three or four hours. After a thorough analysis of the remaining six firms and various dataparisons, three were eliminated, leaving Far East International among the final three. "The heads of our engineering department can meet with the respective heads from these threepanies," he announced.
"Understood, Mr. ric," the head of engineering responded promptly. "After the meetings, I''ll report back to you as soon as possible."
"Good, that''s it for today''s meeting."
After the meeting, ric nced at his own cell phone and noticed there were no missed calls.
That infuriating woman. Her phone might be here, but she had already gone home. She wouldn''t call him using someone else''s phone to ask.
A day went by and apart from the meeting, ric felt like he''d aplished next to nothing at work. As the time to leave approached, he couldn''t sit still any longer. He grabbed his car keys and strode out. He drove to Gtea''s apartment. It took a while to psych himself up before knocking on the door, and Mia was the one who answered.
"Is Gtea here?" ric asked, feeling somewhat awkward.
"Yeah." ric called out to the study, "Sten, someone''s looking for you."
"Oh,ing." Gtea emerged from the study and seemed just as embarrassed to see ric.
"Mia, we''ve run out of groceries. Could you go to the market and buy some?" Gtea sent Mia away on purpose. ric was unpredictable, and in case he lost his temper again, she didn''t want Mia to witness it. "Sure, Sten. You two chat." With that, Mia left immediately.
Once Mia was out, it was just the two of them. After what had happened the previous day, they truly didn''t know what to say to each other.
"Let''s pretend yesterday never happened. Neither of us is allowed to bring it up again!" ric''s tone was as imperious as ever. Yesterday had been the most embarrassing day of his life, and it was something he never wanted to remember! "Fine." That suited Gtea just fine.
"Here''s your phone." ric handed her cell phone back to her. "Try not to be so careless in the future."
ming her for being careless? He was the one who had practically thrown her out of the car in his rush. How could she have remembered anything?
Gtea took her phone and said, "Thank you, Mr. Knight, for going out of your way to return my phone. Even though I can''t go to the hospital to work, I can still do some work. Like before, I''lle to your office for acupuncture every Wednesday and Saturday."
"Good, you remember." ric acknowledged. "Also, this apartment is rundown and small, the amenities around here are subpar, and it''s not suitable for recovery. I''ve bought you a ce near Nexus Innovations. Pack up and move there as soon as you can."
He bought her a house?
"No need. Even though this ce is old, it''s quiet and suitable for recovery," Gtea assured him. "Don''t worry, even though it''s far from your office, I won''t bete for our acupuncture sessions."
"You really don''t appreciate what''s good for you, do you?" ric couldn''t help but scold again. "Do you even know your status? Right now, to the outside world, you are my fiancée. If people found out that the woman I''m about to marry lives in such a dump, what do you think that says about us? So there''s no room for negotiation about the house. You need to move in immediately!"
The man spoke with the same domineering tone, always so fond of barking orders!
"Fine." Since he put it that way, if staying in this dump embarrassed him, what choice did Gtea have?
"Just give me the address, and I will move in after I pack up my things," Gtea said. "If Mr. ric doesn''t have any more business, I''m going to get some rest." Was she really giving him the boot?
