Chapter 2: The Whisper Of The Instinct

Chapter 2: The Whisper of Instinct

The wind howled outside the classroom window, rattling the glass in short bursts. Raven Veyrin sat in the back row, his dark eyes half-lidded, taking in the classroom around him with quiet detachment.

The lecture droned on about theories in physics—concepts most found complex, but to Raven, they were laughably simple. His mind wasn’t even focused on the lesson. Instead, his instincts stirred, subtly but persistently. Something was about to happen.

It was always like this. A whisper in his mind. An inexplicable feeling, a pressure behind his thoughts, guiding him.

"Get up."If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it.

His pulse quickened. Without hesitation, Raven stood, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. The teacher paused mid-sentence, raising an eyebrow.

“Mr. Veyrin, is there something you’d like to share with the class?”

The entire room turned to stare at him.

    "Go outside. Now."

“I… I need to use the restroom,” Raven said calmly, walking toward the door before the teacher could respond.

He pushed open the door and stepped into the hallway. The building was eerily quiet. Raven''s footsteps echoed softly on the polished floors.

That’s when he felt it—an almost tangible weight in the air.

His instinct flared, warning him. Turn left.

Without questioning it, Raven turned down the hallway and headed toward an empty wing of the building. The further he went, the stronger the feeling grew, as though something was pulling him forward.

Then he saw it. A man in a black coat stood at the far end of the hallway, his face obscured by shadows. His presence was wrong—unnatural. He wasn’t supposed to be here.

The man’s head tilted slightly, as if acknowledging Raven’s presence.

Raven’s instinct roared to life. Danger.

But instead of fear, Raven felt a surge of excitement. His lips curved into a slight smirk. “Let’s see what you’ve got.”

    The man lunged.
