    Maia frowned and looked at the wristwatch. She kept her peripheral vision on Tess and found that she, too, had her eyes fixed


    on it. Tess clutched at her gown. She was nervous.

    The lights flickered abruptly just as the bidders were getting ready to ce their bids. Then, a loud boom was heard and the


    entire venue went pitch dark.


    Everyone had their phones taken away when they entered the venue, so no one had any shlights that they could use to
