Chapter 185 You Can Do Anything, Cedric
Tess was having trouble holding her own. Still, Cedric might be a terrifying character, but this was a good chance for her to talk
about this. She had to seize it.
Maia was a little worried to hear that Tess wanted Cedric to give up his position so that she could take over Starlight
Entertainment. He might have received the emails and the documents, but she was the one who checked through them.
There was no doubt Cedric was an outsider and that Starlight Entertainment belonged to the Burgess family. As such, Tess had
every right to take over thepany.
This worried her. There was no way she could let Tessy a finger on Starlight Entertainment. Maiaposed herself and smiled
at Tess.
“Don’t get upset, Aunt Tess. I''ll be reporting to work tomorrow.”
Tess said immediately, “You''ve lost your memories. You were aplete rookie three years. ago. What can you achieve? It’s a

“You say that, but I’m the CEO of Starlight Entertainment. It’s like you said, Rosa is my mom. She’s one hell of ady. | have a
responsibility to thepany precisely because I’m her daughter. I’m a quick learner.
“It''s better than having me justnguishing at home. Besides, it’s good for people who lost their memories to pick up some skills.
Don’t you think I can learn it, Aunt Tess? Am | not a smartdy?”
Maia shed Tess a beautiful smile. There was nothing else Tess could’ve said to that.
Errol signed, “You can do it, sis! You’re the smartest person in the world as far as I’m concerned!” Then, he gave her a thumbs
up.
Tess nced at Errol and said, “Alright. I''ll be there with you. You can learn at your own pace. You’re such an amazingdy. |
have no doubt you''ll do a good job.”
Did Tess just say she would be there with her? It sounded like an excuse just so she could keep her eyes on her. However, it
wouldn’t make sense if Maia rejected her at this point.
“Sure thing, Aunt Tess,” Maia said happily. “I’m sorry you have to do this.”
“Anything it takes to make things easier for you, Maia.” Tess looked at Cedric triumphantly, but her tone was kind, “You''ll forgive
me for my earlier behavior, Cedric. After all, | simply can’t allow our family business to fall into the hands of an outsider.
“You mean well, but we have our own way of running things. It’s especially true when it
comes to apany as big as Starlight Entertainment. | hope you''ll forgive me if | offended you earlier.”

knew what he was thinking. That was the scariest thing.
“We''ll leave and let you rest now that everything''s sorted out. | need to attend to my winery. So, I''ll be leaving with Aunt Tess.”
Errol sensed that something was off. So, he signed and tried to ease the situation.

Maia nodded at him. “Be very careful on your way home, Errol, Aunt Tess. I’m traumatized.” She still had not recovered fully from
the car crash.
Errol nodded and signed, “Don’t worry, sis. Aunt Tess has improved a lot.”
Maia nodded. Then, Errol waved at them and left the room with Tess. Maia closed the door after making sure there was no one
else outside.
“Aunt Tess didn’t sound very confident when she was talking to you. However, she waspletely different when she berated
Hope in the hallway. She wasn’t imposing at all when she mentioned Starlight Entertainment.
“What she said was right, though. Why would it be fitting for an outsider such as yourself to take charge of a Burgesspany?
This pretty much proves that she’s truly afraid of you.”
Cedric looked at her and asked, “Who else but you aren’t afraid of me?”
“Perhaps I’m just too used to you.”
After all, she used to be very fearful of him. She was afraid that he’d be angry with her and dump her.
Then, Maia said again, “Why would Aunt Tess want to control Starlight Entertainment? Do you think she wants thepany for

“You have no right to take charge of thepany, nor will the Burgesses let an outsider do it. She’s from the family after all. It
makes perfect sense for her to take charge of thepany.
Something was off, but she could not put her finger on it.
“You''ll know about that soon enough.”
Maia nodded. She didn’t intend to press Cedric. Then, she looked at his bandaged leg.
“Does it hurt?”
“Not at all,” he said casually.
Maia stared at his leg and said, “The doctor said...”
“| know what he said.”
She nodded, “Yeah. It''ll be fine. You''ll recover in several months. You''re going to be fine.”
“There’s a lingering effect.”
Maia said immediately, “The lingering effect isn’t going to affect you too much if your recovery is smooth. | believe in you. You
can do anything, Cedric.” She didn’t want him to lose faith.
“Really? | can do anything?”
She nodded.
“| can’t even win your heart. Just how capable am | exactly?”
Maia was speechless. She wasn’t sure what to say, so she changed the subject. “How did you escape from the car?”
She recalled the mes and thought his chances of survival were very slim. However, he did it. He was able to make it out in one
piece!
“The toolbox fell open and the tools were scattered in the car.”
She understood what he said and asked, “Did you use the tools to pry open the seat that pinned your leg and crawled out of
another window?”
“| crawled out of the rear windshield. | don’t die easy.” Cedric grinned and patted her head.
“You broke the rules!” Maia ducked and kept a distance from him. She stopped at a spot where she thought it was safe.
Cedric frowned. He looked at her as she backed off and said unpleasantly, “You''ll be out of my room if you back off any further.”
She was startled and stopped at once.
