“T-turn around!” Maia demanded.
Cedric smiled as he gently moved his hand that was on Maia’s waist.
Maia was ticklish so she could not help butugh lightly as she pushed him with one of her hands and grabbed his hand with the
other.
“Cedric, you''re breaking the rules!”
“It wasn’t written that | can’t be in the bathroom with my wife.”
Before Maia could protest, Cedric dimmed the lights in the bathroom and stepped into the bathtub, “Nor take a bath with her.”
Maia was taken aback for a few seconds before retreating to a corner. She had thought that Cedric would y by the rules.
“You''re so shameless!” She shouted at him as she tried to grab a towel to wrap around her body. Unfortunately, Cedric stopped
her midway as he snatched the bath towel out of her
reach.
He smiled, then moved to trap her between himself and the bathtub. He whispered into her ear in a low husky voice, “What do
you think a man would do at a time like this?”
“Cedric, I’m warning you. If you darey a finger on me, I''ll leave Prismara Hill tomorrow and
sue you!”
“Sure, I''ll be waiting,” Cedric replied calmly. “I’d wee any public disy of affection. That way, everyone will know you''re
mine.”
Maia pleaded, “Why can’t you leave me alone? You could have any woman you wanted!”
“| don’t want any other woman. | only want you!”
His words made her heart flutter as she felt butterflies in her stomach. Her breathing rushed and uneven as if she had forgotten
how to breathe.
It was like time had stopped for them. When Maia was jolted awake from the cold, she regained herposure and smiled at
Cedric.
“But | don’t want you anymore. You’re not my only option!” Maia ignored the pain that was building in her chest and continued.
“Don''t forget that we’re only business partners. I’ve vowed to ept you when our goals are achieved, but it doesn’t seem like
we''re getting anywhere closer. I’m sure as the sessful businessman you are, you’d know how important it is to abide by the
contract.
Cedric did not reject her request even though he was still frowning. He ced her gently on the ground and prepared fresh
clothes for her to change into.

gave her onest hug before leaving. “I''ll be right outside if you need me.’

Maia was surprised at how he knew that she was still afraid, and how he offered to stay close. “No, it''s okay. That man has been
caught, so I''ll be safe now. You''re wet and there’s a wound on your arm. You should get changed and dress your wound too.”
Maia replied gently.
“Hurry and go have a warm bath.”
“You should do the same too
“Is that an invitation?” Cedric lifted an eyebrow and smirked at her.

Cedric smiled at her reaction. When he realized what she had done, his smile turned into a scowl. She was wary of him! What
did she take him for? A wolf?
Inside the bathroom, Maia leaned against the door as she was not sure if Cedric was still outside or not. After checking that she
had locked the door, she walked toward the bathtub and started stripping.
She moved fast as she cleaned herself and changed into fresh clothing. Suddenly, a click was heard and the lights in the
bathroom went off.
Maia was surprised as she slipped and fell into the bathtub. Thismotion attracted Cedric’s attention as he knocked the door
loudly to check if she was okay.
Maia did not respond immediately as she was still struggling to get up. Another loud bang came from the door as Cedric had
managed to kick it open.
In the darkness, she could see a man still dressed in wet clothing walking toward her in a hurry. Before she could say a thing,
Cedric had already pulled her into his arms.
The bath towel that was wrapped loosely around her body was gone as he hugged her naked body tightly against his wet
clothes. Maia stiffened as she could feel the warmthing from

The water in the tub was warm but Cedric felt like the cold had taken over him. He smiled sadly as he was hurt deeply by her
words.
He stood up and stepped out of the tub. Due to his actions, the water from the tub overflowed and sshed on the tiles in the
bathroom. For a moment, the water resembled his bleeding heart, as every step he took, some droplets fell to the ground.
Maia could feel her chest tightened as she looked at his retreating form. She wrapped the bath towel tightly around herself, trying
to ignore the pain that was building within her by taking in deep breaths.
Sadly, it did not work as she felt tears flowing down her cheeks. She lifted a finger and brushed them away.
She quickly dried herself. Then, she put on fresh clothes and went downstairs. She needed to see who the man was that had
hunted her like prey in the rain!
Prismara Hill was just like a fortress. There were always security guards patrolling the grounds. Yet, he had managed to kill them
and enter the house with ease. Maia was sure that it was an inside job because he knew the area far too well.
Although the ce was brightly lit now, it was veiled in an intimidating silence. Just then, Cedric’s fearful voice came from the
game room, “How dare you try to harm her?”
Maia followed the voice to the room. When she entered and noticed the perpetrator who was kneeling on the floor, she widened
her eyes in disbelief, “Os-Oswald?”
Maia’s voice was trembling as she looked at the man on the floor. If it were not for the brightly lit room, she would have assumed
that this was a man who resembled Oswald.
“Ms. Maia, 1-I’m sorry. After how kindly you and Mr. Cedric had treated me. | am so sorry. I-I have no right to ask for your
forgiveness. | betrayed you. | am sorry.” Oswald could only apologize incessantly.
Maia continued to eye him in disbelief. “The reason you chose to send the sick housekeepers to the hospital was to give yourself
an alibi as well as to iste me, so that you could get to me easier.”
“Yes.”
“Did you poison the food?”
“No, that wasn’t me! | only knew that the food was drugged, but it wasn’t strong enough to kill anyone, so | gave it to the
housekeepers.”
“How did you know about this? Why did you choose to kill me? I’ve done nothing to you!” Maia continued questioning as she did
not understand why Oswald would do something like
Oswald confessed. “It’s for my grandson. My grandson has leukemia, and we haven''t been able to find a suitable donor for him.
He’s my only grandson, | can’t just watch him die. He’s still so young and he has such a kind heart. Whenever | go hiking, he
