Ranitay on the broad back of the man, feeling his body heat radiating onto her and making her ears flush. A breeze blew past her ear, but instead of cooling her down, it only made her heart race faster. She loosened her grip on him and instinctively tried to move away, but Brendon pulled at her wrist and lifted her up into the air before settling back down with Ranita still clinging to him.


    “Don’t let go or you’ll fall,” he said.


    His jawline was smooth and attractive. Half of his face was revealed, showing a high and straight nose bridge. His lips were tinged with the lingering glow of the sunset, resembling the color of a withered rose.


    To be kissed by those lips was truly a blissful experience.

    “Brendon, it’s enough!” When they reached the intersection, Ranita snapped back to reality from her daydream. She patted the man’s shoulder. “I don’t feel much pain anymore. I can walk by myself!”


    “Ranita, you’re so light.” Brendon felt her weightlessness on his back, as if there was no burden at all!


    He touched her waist and noticed that it was even slimmer than before, and her legs had be thinner too!


    How did she manage to live like this? Was she not eating every day?


    “Let me down. The road ahead is easier, and I can manage on my own.” Ranita didn’t reject help; she was just afraid of falling into the web Brendon had woven for her.


    “Ranita…” Brendon stopped walking. “How can I possibly let you down like this? I’ll apany you home. Has Ayaan returned home?”


    Brendon held her hand firmly, making it impossible for her to get down.


    Ranita pursed her lips, her tone cold. “Mr. Stuart, I appreciate the help you’ve given me as your client, but if you’re here as Ayaan’s father, let’s not talk anymore.”


    Seeing her raising her defenses again, Brendon felt helpless.


    “Ranita… I wasn’t by your side when you gave birth to Ayaan. I’m sorry.” Brendon paused. “I sincerely want to apologize to you.”


    Some words, once spoken, could hurt the heart.


    Even someone as cold-hearted as Brendon had moments of regret, regretting the pain he caused Ranita.
