Chapter 190
They returned to the chateau after the fireworks had stopped and the streets had be deste.
The butler had prepared supper at the chateau.
The servants led them to their assigned rooms.
Leo copsed in his bed, exhausted.
Marco carried Pierce to his room while he slept.
Ivy was also tired and hungry, so she discovered that Wyatt’s room was directly across the hall from
hers.
Jimmy, who was on his way to deliver supper, called out to Ivy. “Ms. Morgan, you didn’t eat anything
earlier. Before going to bed, eat some light snacks. It’ll improve your sleep.” He had a way with
words that was unmistakable.
Jimmy spoke up during Ivy’s hesitation.
“Did you know...? Mr. Reed put in a lot of effort today to put on these fireworks! He contacted
numerous departments and spent tens of millions of dors to see fireworks on the Seine! If I’m a
woman, I’ll be grateful to die happy!”
Ivy was taken aback. Her heart beat a little faster. “Fireworks? Isn’t it tomemorate King Louis
XIII’s birthday?”
Jimmy gave her a strange look. In shock, his features twisted. “Then Louis XIII is extremely
fortunate. The fireworks are most certainly not for him. Mr. Reed stated that the tour could not be
dull. Otherwise, you and Chairman Morgan will be dissatisfied. That’s why he nned a fireworks
disy for you. When was thest time they made such a big deal out of King Louis XIII’s birthday?”
Ivy’s expression shifted slightly. She recalled no holiday tomemorate Louis XIII’s birthday
during the several years she spent in France for work and study. She didn’t mind holidays because
she could join in on the fun whenever she wanted.
Wyatt appeared to have orchestrated the whole thing.
“That’s quite the trouble,” Ivy pursed her lips. Her heart was heavy because she felt she still owed
Wyatt money.
The opposite door opened at that precise moment. Wyatt, wielding a walking cane, stood in the
doorway. He stood tall and straight. The hair on his brow was a little unkempt.
Aside from his slightly pale face, he appeared to be in good health. As he opened his thin lips, his
eyes were pensive and charming.
“Howe you haven’t rested yet?”
Jimmy exited Ivy’s room cheerfully. “When Ms. Morgan discovered that you had organized the
fireworks disy, she was so moved that she almost cried. She said you’re so busy, but you can still
think of these things, so she’s very emotional and hopes you’ll be able to recover sooner. That way,
she’ll be able to stand alongside you, hand in hand, to watch the fireworks!”
Ivy, who was about to shut the door, was rendered speechless. Her gaze wasplicated as she
looked at Jimmy, who did not flinch.
Jimmy was chosen as Wyatt’s butler for reasons other than being Ken’s cousin, right? His ass-
kissing abilities were unrivaled!
Wyatt raised his brows gently. He sized up Ivy with a cold face with tenderness to it with a faint
smile.
“All right, don’t cry.”
He promised to recover quickly so she wouldn’t be overly emotional.
Wyatt’s hair was unkempt. He had a casual andzy appearance and did not resemble the distant
and indifferent Reed Corporation President.
Ivy was speechless as she stared strangely at Wyatt.
‘Does he believe what Jimmy said? With that IQ, how can he stay in the industry? Ridiculous!’
Ivy was about to say something sarcastic, but her tone softened as she remembered the fireworks
earlier. “You overthink things. Go to bed early.”
Wyatt tilted his head slightly before closing the door and eximed, “I’m hungry. I’d like what you’re
having.”
“That’s thest part,” Jimmy said right away. “Ms. Morgan, eating alone will bore you; why don’t you
share some with Mr. Reed?”
It’d be a romantic dinner for the two of them!
Ivy’s eyes narrowed, and she remained silent.
“I won’t eat much,” Wyatt added.
He was only interested in going to her room and apanying her for one meal.
Ivy cocked her brow andughed softly. She spun around, took up the tray, and handed it to Jimmy.
“OK, I’m not going to eat. It’s entirely yours.”
She wished she hadn’t held back her harsh words earlier.
Wyatt’s stupid habit of pushing his luck made her want to stomp on him.
Wyatt furrowed his brows. “I’m not saying this.”
“But I do,” she countered. “Are you not hungry?”
Wyatt gave her a look.
“Well, just to make sure you have enough, let me starve!” Ivy shot back.
Wyatt went utterly still. He had initially nned to take advantage of Ivy’s soft heart to smooth over
their rtionship. He had forgotten about Ivy’s tenacity. He hesitated, but Ivy had already shoved
the tray in front of Jimmy.
“Jimmy, keep an eye on Mr. Reed and make sure he doesn’t choke to death.”
Ivy smirked and mmed the door to her room shut.
Wyatt clenched his teeth andughed angrily. ‘She doesn’t make any concessions!’ His lungs were
congested.
Jimmy stood there with the tray, embarrassed. He made this especially for Ivy, taking into ount
her preferences.
Wyatt would not be pleased.
“Mr. Reed, you should eat it on behalf of Ms. Morgan since she offered it to you to get more nutrition
and recover faster!” Jimmy said approvingly.
Wyatt only gave him a cold stare.
Jimmy bowed his head and looked at the food tray. ‘Fine. I’m going to eat it. We can’t afford to
waste food.’
Ivy returned to her room and saw the photograph that Leo had sent her. It was a photograph of Ivy
and Wyatt standing on the bridge with fireworks. Ivy was staring at the river, while Wyatt, from his
wheelchair, was staring at her with deep affection.
At that moment, time seemed to stand still. She understood why her father took this photograph.
Leo, too, felt soft-hearted, but she did not. Ivy silently deleted the photo and joined her friends in a
group chat.
Because the group was aware that Ivy was in France, it was highly active. One of them mentioned
the day’s top news.
(Did you see the fireworks on the Seine today, Ivy? All of the major news outlets are going crazy
trying to get information about it! It’s a once-in-a-century urrence.)
(Yeah! Remember your first birthday, which you spent here? I recall you wishing to see fireworks on
the banks of the Seine in our school’s public ss record! I believe that book is still avable.)
Ivy read the messages as she scrolled through them. For a brief moment, her mind went nk. She
had a sh of insight. She’d forgotten that watching fireworks on the banks of the Seine was her
first wish when she had to spend her first birthday alone in France.
She didn’t have anything to wish for at the time, so she casually wrote down a wish that would most
likely note true. She never imagined it woulde true today.
Ivy pressed her lips together. Her heart clenched, and she struggled to breathe.
‘Wyatt didn’t n this based on my request, did he?’
She put her phone away and looked out the window.
The warm lights surrounding the chateau and the greenndscape created a dream-like scene.
The window was left with oblique watermarks from a drizzle.
Ivy burst outughing.
‘It’s most likely coincidental. How would Wyatt know about her wish in the first ce?’
Wyatt sent her a message right then and there.
(To the intelligent and lovely Ms. Morgan, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors—your
devoted fan.)
Ivy couldn’t help but roll her eyes andugh exasperatedly.
She replied.
