Chapter 167

    Chapter 167

The tatami cushions were generous in size, and the lighting in the room was ideal.

Ivy pushed Wyatt''s wheelchair over, thinking, ''He really does have a lot of problems!''

"Is there anything else you require?"

"I''m not in the mood to sit here. I''d like to sit over there. Wyatt stated, "It''s morefortable there."

He was adamant about not being in a wheelchair.

Ivy paused and frowned, then stated inly, "I am unable to lift you." Not unless he desired

    permanent disability!

Ivy assumed Wyatt was being purposely picky.

Wyatt propped himself up on the wheelchair and made a futile attempt to stand. His full strength

was focused on his left leg.

He desired to move slightly forward, but such a slight movement caused sweat to seep from his

    brow.

Ivy squinted. As she lunged forward to assist the man who was about to fall, her reflexes were

    quicker than her thoughts.

His entire weight was pressed against her. Her slender waist constricted as her breathing became

    labored.

When she shifted her gaze to the side, she caught sight of Wyatt''s guilty eyes. The repulsive words

on the tip of her tongue were swallowed down her throat.

He would not have ended up in this state had it not been for her rescue.

She was well aware that she was being excessively petty.

As a result, Ivy could only offer him silent support. Her senses were enveloped by the pleasant

scent of mint emanating from his body.

She deftly ced him on the tatami, taking care not to touch his right leg.

Both of them were perspiring profusely after Wyatt sat.

Wyatt''s face was pale, but his gaze was gentle and gentle.

Ivy squinted. "Inform me of the files andptop that you require."

Before she could turn around, Wyatt''s handnded on her wrist.

"There is no need. "Come see a movie with me."

He reached for the remote control with his other hand. The surrounding light is dimmed, and the

curtains automatically close with the push of a button. On the opposite wall, arge screen rolled

    down.

Ivy froze for a split second and came dangerously close to exploding.

''He went to such lengths to sit on the tatami solely to watch a movie?!''

She turned around to re at him. "Wyatt Reed, you''re unbelievably sick!"

Ivy could no longer take it.

Wyatt''s face was glitchy. His eyes glowed with a certain innocence.

    "However, I am."

Ivy sneered and withdrew her hand. "Watch it on your own."

"How about we all watch it together? The doctor advised me to remain calm and cheerful to recover

    quickly!" Wyatt exined.

Ivy''s footsteps came to a halt. ''Bloody hell! Was that the doctor''s statement?!

Wyatt extended the remote control to her. "You get to choose the movie."

He was still aware that Ivy was dissatisfied with the horror film he had chosen thest time.

Ivy matter-of-factly took the remote control. ''Ignore it. I''ll just have to put up with him.''

The library contained recent and even uing releases.

It was pretty impressive, but upon reflection, it made sense given his investment in those films.

Ivy perused the selections before settling on a literary film titled "The Quiet Time." She tossed the

remote control aside and sat on the tatami''s opposite end.

Wyatt and she could fit two more people in the space between them.

Wyatt''s brows were rxed, as was his smile. He was already overjoyed at the prospect of sharing

    this moment with Ivy.

Ivy smiled as she leaned against the armrest and hugged a pillow. She examined the film''s

    synopsis.

Flint was a cast member. Even though he was the supporting male lead, he managed to capture

    everyone''s attention.

She sat through the film with rapt attention. When she caught sight of the gaze from across the

room, she couldn''t help herself and re back at him with all her might.

"Are you not going to watch?"

Wyatt withdrew his gaze calmly and with a trace of guilt.

He noticed Flint as he shifted his gaze to therge screen. He immediately felt stuffy in his chest.

Wyatt simply closed his eyes and listened to her deep breaths.

Ivy was close to falling asleep after more than an hour. She turned her head to see Wyatt had

already dozed off. His arms were folded across his chest. His brows were slightly drooped and

sunken, and he wore a pale face. Even so, it did not conceal his features'' coldness and sharpness.

Ivy cast a sarcastic smirk across her face. ''He desired to watch a movie but eventually fell asleep.''

She was no longer in the mood to watch and silently walked out barefoot to get a ss of milk,

taking care not to make a sound.

    Outside, her bodyguard stood.

Ivy nodded and made a hushed gesture as she descended barefoot.

The downstairs was dimly lit. Perhaps no one was in the vicinity.

Ivy was about to enter the kitchen when she overheard someone whispering on the phone.

"Yes, they went upstairs immediately following dinner. They''ve been atop for well over an hour. Who

is aware of what they are doing?"

"Mr. Reed directed that I refrain from going upstairs and disturbing them. Ms. Morgan appears to be

treating him coldly, but I believe she is feigning it. She''s simply being evasive."

Rosie, the nanny, purposefully lowered her voice. Then, all of a sudden, the kitchen light came on.

Rosie jumped to her feet in disbelief and panicked and dropped the phone to the ground.

The screen dimmed at that point.

    Ivy noticed the inscription.

    Mrs. Reed.

''So, she''s speaking with Eva on the phone?'' Ivy deemed.

Rosie shivered and looked at Ivy, her eyes wide with panic, her words stumbling.

"W-what are you doing here, Ms. Ivy?"

Ivy cast an indifferent nce her way. Her eyes were dark and sunken, devoid of any radiance. She

approached the carton of milk, poured it into a ss, and walked away.

Rosie picked up the phone with trembling hands and felt a pang of embarrassment when she saw

    Ivy''s back.

Ivy ascended the stairs as she drank the milk. By the time she reached the study''s door, she had

    already finished the ss.

That scene earlier made her feel nauseous.

That was because this was not her first encounter with this. Rosie was originally assigned to work

here as a spy for Eva, monitoring Ivy''s every move and ensuring that shepleted her chores.

Wyatt''s shirts that he never wore required ironing. The house had to be kept clean by her

personally. Even the meals they ate daily had to be prepared ording to predetermined recipes.

Rosie was the one who kept an eye on Ivy and reaped the benefits of herbor.

''Even today, Eva wishes to exertplete control over my every move? Indeed, old habits die

    hard!'' Ivy pondered.

Ivy returned to the study and was not as quiet as she had been and even mmed the door shut.

Wyatt, who was seated on the tatami, opened his eyes abruptly.

Ivy stepped over icily. "Would you like to sleep?"

It was obvious that she was in a foul mood following her outing.

Wyatt raised his eyes and rubbed them. He spoke in a low, hoarse tone.

"I''m not sure how I fell asleep. You must be exhausted. Allow yourself to rest. Later on, Ken will

    send me some documents."

Ivy''s brows furrowed. She was well aware that Wyatt would not squander his time. He would never

    abandon the colossal Reed Corporation.

"Certainly, then I''ll return to my room. Do not contact me if you have no immediate needs. Even if

you do require assistance, do not contact me."

Wyatt smiled helplessly and stood there watching Ivy put on her shoes and walk away.

Ivy prepared to depart from her shores.

The door mmed shut behind me. C0ntent ? 2024 (N/?)velDrama.Org.

Wyatt''s eyes slightly darkened as his heart sank.

Ivy left earlier without shoes for fear of waking him up. However, when she returned, she

    purposefully made noise.

Ivy returned to her room, locked the door, and cheerfully conversed with Windy and Agatha untilte

    in the evening.

Wyatt had almost reached midnight when hepleted reading all of Ken''s documents. His eyes

glowed with fatigue, but when he considered how Ivy was resting in the adjacent room, his mood

immediately improved. He rolled out of the study in his wheelchair, wanting to check on her.

He had a strange expression, however, when he reached the door to her room and saw this scene.

His chest constricted slightly and he became slightly out of breath.

Ivy''s bodyguard was standing outside her door, preparing to make his bed on the floor.

Additionally, the sleeping gear on the floor was immactely prepared. The military''s practicality,

    simplicity, and convenience were allparable.

Ivy''s bedroom door waspletely blocked by the bodyguard.

Wyatt walked over with a glum expression and a visibly displeased expression.

Bill noticed him and arched his brows.

"Didn''t the servants clean up your guest room?" Wyatt''s deep tone was oppressive.

Bill leaned against the wall; one leg folded. He locked his gaze on Wyatt, unafraid.

"I am not a visitor. I serve as Ms. Morgan''s bodyguard. I follow her wherever she goes."

Wyatt''s brow furrowed. "I''m going in to check on her."

The implied message was for the bodyguard to move aside.

As Bill stated. "Ms. Morgan has taken a rest."

    "Who says?"

Bill remained silent for a brief moment. "Chairman Morgan has directed that no one enter the Young

    Lady''s room until she exits."

Wyatt was at a loss for words.

Wyatt refrained from retorting after Leo''s name was mentioned.
