    Chapter 98

Wyatt sat up in surprise when he opened his eyes and saw the familiar furnishings around him. He

was about to yank the needle from his arm and flee.

“Where are you going?” Don Reed’s face was crimson with rage. His aged voice was imposing and

    commanding.

Wyatt was stopped by the butler and servants at his sides.

For a brief moment, no one dared to speak.

Wyatt’s expression darkened as he spoke in a firm tone. “I’ll go look for Ivy.”

“She’s already gone!” Don Reed’s words struck Wyatt like a bolt of lightning from nowhere.

Everyone knew, but Wyatt was still in denial.

Those words struck a painful reality buried deep within his heart.

Wyatt felt like a deer caught in the headlights. That tense nerve yanked and snapped. He looked up

with bloodshot eyes and a tight, cold face.

“She isn’t dead. She’s not going to die like that!” His voice was icy.

‘How could I abandon Ivy in the sea? No matter what, I have to bring her home!’

Wyatt stood up and was about to walk out when Don Reed shot the butler a look. The butler arrived

with the servants and firmly pinned the weak Wyatt in his bed.

“Sir Wyatt, your body hasn’t fully recovered—”

“Get out of the way!” Wyatt’s voice was as cold as a winter night.

    Don Reed frowned in displeasure.

“I know you’ve always felt that our family owes that girl something. If she were still alive, I wouldn’t

stop you from doing things for her, but she’s no longer alive. There’s no reason to risk your life for

her. Do you want our entire family buried alongside her? Do you know what kind of rumors was

going around outside while you looking for her? Our family is turning into a shit show!”

“I don’t give a damn! She isn’t dead. I’ve got to find her!” Wyatt had to tell her how important Ivy was

to him in person. He had no choice but to apologize and confess his love to her as solemnly as

    possible.

Nobody knew that when Wyatt found out about Ivy’s ident, it felt like his heart was beingContent rights by N?velDr//ama.Org.

hollowed out. His soul had vanished.

Don Reed looked at his grandson, whom he adored.

Wyatt was exceptional, decisive, and fierce. In a matter of years, he had established himself as a

permanent fixture on the Forbes list.

And now, Wyatt was risking his life for the sake of a woman?!

“Keep an eye on the door, and don’t let him leave this room!” Don Reed gave the order as he turned

    to leave.

Don Reed could not let Wyatt, whom he had raised through painstaking efforts, ruin himself

because of a woman, even if he had to resort to extreme measures. Time would eventually smooth

    everything out.

Wyatt would be able to think clearly again once he epted this reality. By then, that woman would

    be no longer necessary.

The air was deafeningly quiet and bitterly cold.

They didn’t dare to leave without permission, but they were also afraid of Wyatt’s retaliation. Wyatt’s

body exuded crushing grief that everyone could feel.

That kind of sadness and despair oozed from his bones, making the people around him feel his

    anguish.

Wyatt shrank into a ball all of a sudden. His firm and weathered fare were tinged with vulnerability

and remorse. “I’m sorry, Ivy... I regret the divorce...”

Don Reed, who was on his way to the door, froze. He looked back at Wyatt with a confused look on

    his face.

The room was quiet, and everyone was taking deep breaths. They had never seen Wyatt in such a

    state before.

Wyatt Reed had always been self-assured and proud. He was an unbeatable legend. However, only

one woman could bring him to his knees and admit defeat. She even forced him to admit his

    mistakes.

This woman was clearly more important to him than life itself.

IVY’S LEGS became numb after walking for more than twenty minutes. Her feet were also covered

in blisters, and her muscles ached all the time. The rain stopped just as she was following him to

    their destination.

The sound of the waves on the sea’s surface became more intense. The wind howled, and huge

waves shed against the reefs and scrubbed the beach. The crashing of the waves was

    thunderous.

The sand near the sea was soft and wet after leaving the jungle, making it impossible to lift one’s

    feet.

The man in front of Ivy walked steadily and firmly.

Despite running for so long, he did not appear to be tired. He seemed to be at ease in this

    environment.

Vince walked past the reef to the leeward side of a hill, then shifted a half-size rock to the side.

Before entering the small cave behind the rock, he called out to the stunned and perplexed Ivy.

    There was a cave here?

Ivy followed him into the small space that could only hold two people.

The trickling seawater cascaded down from the chasm, unable to pool anywhere.

Vince walked sideways through a 15-inch-diameter gap. He called out to her from within, and Ivy

    followed suit, shimmying in.

The space suddenly became avable. There were lights in this room. The interior was fantastic,

with dry and clean branches all around. The air was slightly humid, but it was ten times better than

    the outside air.

Ivy smiled as Vince removed a backpack from a high rock. It was a traditional La Sportiva model.

She recognized the brand immediately because it was the same as his shoes.

Vince pulled out a Scarpa men’s windbreaker, a ssic model from the well-known outdoor brand.

He then removed a pair of pants from the same collection. Just as he bent down to put them on, he

seemed to realize something and turned to face Ivy.

Ivy locked her gaze on him. She wasn’t blushing, and her heart wasn’t racing. She was staring at

him like a hawk as if she was afraid the tie would vanish into thin air.

Vince stifled a weak chuckle. “Ivy, I don’t mind if you want to watch.”

Ivy froze for a split second before returning to her senses. She quickly turned her back on him. Her

face began to warm up unconsciously.

“Aren’t you thirsty? There are tools next to you. Get some seawater and return. I can distill it to

make fresh water.” Vince made a concerted effort to alleviate the awkwardness.

    “Okay.”

Ivy hadn’t been in contact with fresh water in a long time. She yearned for tasteless water! She

walked away subconsciously, looking at the toolkits on the rock with hesitancy.

This was nothing more than a container made by tying a few leaves together.

‘Forget it... This is the best I can do in a ce like this!’

Ivy went out gloomily and chose a spot with clean seawater from the small hole.

When she returned, Vince was already dressed, tall, and lean. He sat on a pile of leaves, one leg

curled up, looking down and carefully fiddling with the tools in his hand. His messy hair was gone,

and he now had clean short hair. His features were delicate and attractive.

Even if he didn’t clean up much, his in-depth features in the light were incredibly attractive,

particrly his bright eyes, which seemed to be able to reflect the Cosmos thousands of miles

    away.

Vince appeared to be about the same age as she was. Ivy, on the other hand, was taken aback by

    something else.

    “Were you wearing a wig?”

    Vince nodded.

“You’ve heard what they say. Follow the lead of the locals.”

    That was correct, but...

Ivy’s mouth corners twitched. “Who would wear a wig everywhere?”

Vince blinked at her, a pure and reckless smile on his face.

“I’m an adventurer. Of course, I was well-prepared. I specialize in filming and researching primitive

tribes for my social media content.”

    “Are you here on purpose?”

Vince nodded. “I just happened to pick this ind at random. I wasn’t expecting much because it’s

the smallest ind on the north side of the Antic Ocean. I had no idea there would be indigenous

people here. They’re an authentic primitive tribe.”

Ivy stood there watching as he took a ck earphone-sized camera from a leaf on the side. It was

highly inconspicuous, but it was also extremely rare given their current location.

“In other words, do you have a way out?” That was her primary concern.

Vince pursed his lips and slightly frowned. “Not at all.”

“How are you going to get back? Aren’t you going back after you finish your research?”

“Well,” he shrugged, “I didn’t exactly consider that beforeing here. My other adventurer friend

dropped me off on the ind by helicopter. Then he went on an expedition to the South Pole. So,

I’m not sure if he’s still alive.”
