    As he recalled Ivy’s image under the streetlight with her head full of blood and her back shivering in


    the chill, Wyatt’s heart broke.


    He was aware that he owed her a great deal and that there was no way he could ever make up for


    it.


    In response, Don Reed gave him a stern look. “Why would I still be so enraged if I wanted to


    apologize? These apologies would only prove that we had mistreated her! It’s going to be a disaster


    for ourpany’s stock and reputation!”


    On the other side, Piper Reed echoed, “Yeah, why should we apologize? We can work things out


    privately with them. Putting our family’s reputation at risk is unnecessary. What does it matter if she


    is the daughter of Leo Morgan?


    Is she better than everyone else? We did not persuade her into marrying into our family, nor did we


    compel her into filing for divorce; therefore, why should we humiliate ourselves?”
