“Miss Clinton.” The chief financial officer sounded anxious and ttering. “I think you’re right. I’ll go back
and improve it. I must let you see the results within a month!”
There was a pleading look in his eyes, and Charlotte did not intend to drive him to a dead end, so she
nodded.
The chief financial officer heaved a long sigh of relief, turned around, and left the office. He did not let
anyone see the folder.
“I have a lot of simr documents. Do you want to have a look?” Charlotte nced at the crowd.

After they left the office, Charlotte leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes.

Joe nced at Frank indifferently and said, “Get out.”
Frank was stunned, but he did not move. Instead, he looked at Charlotte.
Joe raised his eyebrows. Charlotte hesitated for a moment before nodding. “You can wait outside.”
Frank turned to leave, and Joe turned around and locked the door.
Charlotte suddenly became alert. “What are you doing?”

Joe didn’t answer. He just walked to her desk step by step. His slender fingers swept across the desk,
suddenly pulling over Charlotte’s chair, bringing the distance between the two closer.

“Are those two children David’s?” His voice was deep and a little hoarse, which made Charlotte scared.
She looked away and tried hard not to meet his gaze. “So what? We’re divorced. I’ve never been sorry
to you before.”
Joe reached out and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes.
“You fell in love at first sight with David, and you gave birth to children for him, did you?” Joe asked
word by word.
Charlotte knew that if she behaved oddly, Joe would definitely be suspicious. She secretly clenched her
fists with her nails and forced herself to look at Joe. “Yes. Otherwise, why do you think I became
David’s fiancée? We originally wanted to let the children return to their family after we got married, but
you found it out.”
“I don’t believe it.” At some point, Joe had crossed the desk and ced his hands on both sides of
Charlotte’s chair. He looked down at Charlotte and said, “You’re a person with nostalgia.
You couldn’t fall in love with David at first sight.”

It was obviously apliment, but Charlotte found it ironic. She pushed Joe away forcefully and
sneered.
“I’ve used so many years to prove that there’s no good ending
for nostalgia. How could I be stupid again? There’s nothing wrong with love at first sight. At least I have
two lovely children and a fiancé who loves me dearly, right?”
When Joe heard her mention the word “fiancée” in front of him, the anger he had been feeling ever
since he found out that the children were David’s finally erupted.
He reached out and grabbed Charlotte by the chin. “Do you really think I don’t dare to touch you?”
Their gazes met. With a thought, Joe lowered his head and kissed her.
