Introduction: Many a century before Avatar Aang's time, the world's balance teeters on the edge: over two decades ago, the Avatar upon which the world had come to depend disappeared without a trace. Opportunists from all nations took advantage of this, doing whatever they could to gain power whilst anticipating the Avatar's return in sixteen years鈥?nd yet no Avatar was made known. In the nine years since, the world has simply continued on鈥攁s if it never even needed the Avatar in the first place鈥攁nd few still hold out hope for the Avatar's return.Yet the world is not as calm as some like to pretend it is: the Air Nomads are stretched thin, the Water Tribes hang on the verge of becoming an empire, the Earth Kingdom is all but in civil war, the Fire Nation's prosperity threatens to collapse, and in many places the spirits have made their displeasure apparent; though the Avatar may be missing, a void in their shape remains, looming over the four nations鈥攁 void that must be filled, whatever it takes. Whether they know it or not, a group of youths are thrust into that void, each responsible for not only their own individual nations but all of them together. Can they find the Avatar, prevent all-out war, and lead the world back into an era of peace and harmony? Or will their task prove too daunting, leaving the four nations cast in darkness?
