Chapter 726 Two Childish Men

    Chapter 726 Two Childish Men

"No. I''ll stay here with you." Julien said as he went to the couch and took a seat.

Sydney didn''t chase him out. She went back to her desk. "Sure. As long as you''re not bored out of

    your mind."

"Do I look like the kind of guy who can''t sit still?" Julien chuckled as he poured a cup of tea for

    himself.

Sydney smiled at him, but she said nothing. Then, she took out her phone and made a call.

When Julien saw her putting her phone against her ear, he rubbed the side of the cup. "Who are

    you calling?"

Since the call hadn''t been answered, Sydney took a second to answer him, "Luke."

    Julien frowned. "Luke?"

    "Yes."

"Why are you calling him?" He sounded jealous.

He knew Luke had given up on Sydney, but he knew Luke still had feelings for her.

    Thus, Julien disliked Luke.

Sydney knew why Julien had a long face. Then she shook her head helplessly. "I want to thank him.

He''s the first one who tried to clear my name right after Madeline defamed me on the inte. And,

I''ll thank Hunterter. Stop getting jealous."

    Julien grunted and stayed quiet.

For the sake of them helping her, he would let this one slide.

Although he thought so in his heart, he still stared at Sydney. He listened closely in case they had

    said something they shouldn''t.

Sydney felt his gaze, and she knew why he was looking. She shook her head in amusement.

From the other side of the phone, Luke heard herughter. Then he was confused. "Why are you

    laughing, Sydney?"

Julien thought, ''Did we say something funny?''

Sydney waved her hand. "It''s nothing. I was just amused because I saw a childish guy."

"A childish guy?" Luke was even more confused now. "Who is it?"

"Doesn''t matter." Sydney wasn''t about to tell him it was Julien.

Since she wasn''t spilling, Luke shrugged and stopped asking.

Sitting on a couch, Julien realized that Sydney was calling him childish. Then he arched an

    eyebrow.

Julien thought, ''Does she think I''m a childish guy?''

Sydney made some small talk. When she was about to hang up and call Hunter, Luke remembered

something. Then he said in a serious tone, "Oh, right. Syd."

Sydney put her phone back against her ear and looked serious as well. "What is it, Luke?"

"Someone from the hospital in South Lake called me. It''s the hospital where your parents'' daughter

    was born."

    "Yes, and?" Sydney nodded.

Luke squinted. "The guy told me that Brandon sent someone to inquire about your mother''s birth

    daughter twenty-six years ago."

"What?" Sydney''s face darkened. "Why would Brandon want to find out about that?"

When Julien overheard that, he stopped sipping his tea and went over to her. "What happened?"

Sydney shook her head quietly and waited for Luke to answer her.

Luke shook his head as well. "No idea. The guy said Brandon''s man only asked about basic info

about your mother''s child and then left, so I don''t know what he''s up to."

"I see." She bit her lip.

Luke continued, "I think he must be up to something. Brandon must be nning a conspiracy, or

else he would have no reason to snoop around. Be careful, Sydney."

"I will." Sydney smiled. "Thanks for the heads up."

Luke waved his hand. "It''s nothing. We''re friends, right? Call me if you need anything. I''ll help if I

    can."

When Sydney was about to answer, Julien, who had been eavesdropping, bent over, walked toward

Sydney, and interrupted her with a dark look on his face. "No need. She has me. And you aren''t

    useful and capable enough."

The corner of her lips twitched, and she shot him a re. "What are you doing?"

"It''s the truth." Julien said as he smiled.

When Luke heard his voice, he paused for a moment, but when he realized who it was, he stood up

angrily. "Julien, why are you there?"

"Why can''t I be here?" Julien ced one hand on Sydney''s shoulder and the other on the back of

her chair. From the front, it looked like he was hugging her. He said in a smug tone, "I am her

boyfriend. If I can''t be here, who else can? You?"

"Why you..."Luke stomped his foot angrily. "Don''t get smug, Julien. You weren''t even around when I

    met Sydney."

Julien raised his eyes and answered leisurely, "So what? Not like you can have her in the end."

Luke was annoyed, but he could say nothing about that.

Sydney leaned forward and held her forehead.

She thought, ''Both of them are in their thirties. They''re the bosses of their ownpanies, but now

they''re arguing like kids. Their quarrel sounded so childish. How amusing.''

Julien didn''t know Sydney just called him childish again. And he was busy basking in his glory of

    winning the argument.

How could Julien not be thrilled? Luke was his romantic rival, and he beat Luke.

Thus Julien would definitely be thrilled to defeat his rival in love.

Julien rubbed his eyebrows as he told Luke arrogantly, "Alright. We''re going to be very busy. And

we don''t have time to waste. Goodbye."

Luke froze. Then he held the phone tightly and quickly asked, "Hey, wait a minute. What are you

two going to do? I''m not going to let you do anything to her. Have you heard of me? Do you hear

    me, Julien?"

Julien could imagine how panicked Luke must be. He thought Luke must be so angry that he was

    about to go crazy.

"Luke, what Leaf and I will do is between us. It''s none of your business. You''re just an outsider." He

took Sydney''s phone and retorted coldly.

Luke''s eyes were about to re out. "Leaf? You called her Leaf?"

Julien caressed Sydney''s hair and retorted nonchntly, "So?"

Luke clenched his fist. "So? So that''s what her parents call her. You don''t have the right to call her

    that."

"I''m sorry, but I do. And Leaf allowed it." Julien''s smile was broadening.

Luke was shocked. "What? She allowed it?"

Luke thought, ''She told Julien her nickname and allowed him to call her that?''

"That''s right. " He held a lock of her hair and kissed it affectionately.

    Luke was silent.

He did try to call her Leaf back then, but she refused. She said that nickname was only reserved for

her parents, so he changed and called her Darling instead.

He thought she would lock her nickname away forever after her parents passed away.

However, he never thought she would allow Julien to call her that after six years.

So this was the difference between how she treated the one she loved and the one she did not.
