    Some of you guys might be wondering why the update times have been stretching out week over week for the last three months or so.


    Well, the thing is I''ve been pulling 60-80 hour weeks for that entire stretch, to the point I was killing myself pulling overtime on the weekends. I worked at a Director-level role that I''d grown into over the last four years, and there were some pretty worrying rumblings from the investors / Board. I was doing everything I could to keep the usual corpo metrics maxed out and the people under me in good standing.

    Welp, as it turns out, I wound up losing my job last week in a pretty big layoff. So did everyone in my immediate proximity in the org structure.


    I''ll be good for a few months, but it looks like I''ll be on the job hunt for the foreseeable future.


    On the plus side, I''ve got a paid vacation on my hand if I get some momentum going early, which means time to write.


    The next 8000 words in the story are done, and I just have to do some editing now so expect an update soonish.
