I''ve never been more uncomfortable.
I know Lindsey only has one life. However, I am aware that she believes I am unaware of that. She keeps looking at me while gripping her new dagger so hard that her knuckles turn white. I''m not safe. I need to figure a way out.
I hear a whisper in the distance like my name is called. Maybe it''s just my head. But then I hear it again. I turn around and I see Jaxson.
“I‘ll be back,” I say in a rush. I jump off the ground and speed-walk into the forest. Jaxson pulls me close and we go a bit farther away from my camp. “How did you know where my camp is?” I asked. I was so close to him that our chests were nearly touching. You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
“I walked around until I saw you.”
“How did you know it was me?” I ask.
“Oh, come on, No one has hair as beautiful as yours,” he says while brushing his hand through my hair. I blush.
“Why did you search for me?” I ask. It sounded silly at first but then I realized he might have a reason.
“I have something to show you, do you think it would be suspicious that you left for a few hours?”
“Definitely,” Lindsey would probably come searching for me.
“Then I''ll come for you tonight,” he says, “I guess I''ll see you later?”
“Yeah later tonight,” I add. I hug him and he wraps his arms around me. He makes me feel safe and comfortable, a feeling I haven''t felt in a while, a feeling I have never felt when I’m near Lindsey.
