Chapter 309 The Open-Minded Carters
Chapter 309 The Open-Minded Carters
Abbot had been feeling relentless while driving home.
Not until he arrived at the Carters'' Mansion and saw his parents did Abbot finally find the reason.
Benjamin and Cam, who used to keep a low profile, dolled themselves up.
They looked like they were trying to show off to the whole world how rich they were.
Abbot twitched the corner of his mouth and rolled down the car window, uttering, "Mom, you and
Dad..."
Before Abbot finished his words, Benjamin and Cam had got to the passenger seat side and began
to observe Reba through the window.
Cam stated, "This girl looks so pretty."
Benjamin said to Cam, "Are you sure this girl fell for your son?"
Cam shot a nce at Benjamin as she said, "She''s such a beautiful girl. How could she fall for your
son per se? She must have had eyes for your son''s wealth!"
Benjamin nodded in agreement, saying, "That makes sense."
Cam continued, "About the wee gifts I asked you to prepare, did you get them ready?"
Benjamin uttered, "Sure, don''t worry."
Cam added, "Whether you will have grandchildren all depends on today."
Benjamin said, "The time is tight for such a tough task."
Right after that, Cam winked at Abbot and urged him by saying, "What are you waiting for? Hurry to
carry her off the car."
Abbot said with a frown, "Mom."
Cam pretended to be unhappy and joked, "Don''t tell me you want your dad to do it for you?"
Abbot couldn''t let it happen for sure.
Getting out of the car reluctantly, Abbot went to the shotgun seat, opened the door, and leaned over to
carry Reba down. Thanks to Cam''s order, Abbot carried Reba all the way to his bedroom.
More than ten minutester, Abbot concernedly looked at Reba who was sleeping soundly in his
bed.
"How did she end up sleeping in my bed?" Abbot thought inwardly.
"Will she overthink it if she knows this is my room? Will she think I''m giving her a chance?"
Abbot stared at Reba for a long time with worry. Finally, he left the bedroom with clenched teeth.
Reba didn''t wake up until night fell.
During this period, Faye called Reba several times but never got through9. In the end, Faye had no
choice but to let Colin call Abbot.
Abbot stuttered on the phone, "She''s fine. What else can happen to her?"
Colin seemed to smile and asked, "Did you send her home?"
Abbot answered with hesitation, "Of... of course."
Abbot always stammered whenever he told lies since childhood.
Colin saw Abbot through but didn''ty it bare. He stated "It''s all right if you''ve sent her back home.
Faye is still worried about her, so she let me call you."
Abbot uttered, "What''s to worry about?"
Colin ridiculed, "Probably you might do something out of line?"
Abbot sounded nervous, "You never know who''s the one that would do something out of line."
Hearing Abbot''s words, Colin sensed something and asked jokingly, "Did she do something to you?"
At the thought of how Reba called him just now, Abbot lowered his voice and asked, "Does Faye
look very different in front of you privately?"
Colin said meaningfully, "Hmm?"
Abbot continued, "Reba looks quite serious normally but in private... Forget it. After all, she''s a
youngdy. If word gets out, people might judge her."
Colin asked, "What did Reba do to you in private?"
Abbot appeared a little agitated and said, "Forget it. Gotta hang up."
Colin was rendered speechless.
Abbot hung up the phone. Looking at his dark phone screen, Colin arched his brows slightly.
Catching sight of that, Faye asked, "Did Abbot send Reba home?"
Colin pressed his mobile phone against his jaw and honestly answered, "I don''t think so."
Faye frowned and uttered, "Nothing will happen between them, will it?"
Colin looked at Faye and joked, "No, but judging from what Abbot said, Reba seemed to have
thrown herself at him but was turned down by Abbot."
Faye was wordless.
In Abbot''s bedroom.
After Reba woke up, she kept staring at the ceiling in a daze.
She couldn''t help thinking about how narcissistic a man Abbot was that he had people print a huge
picture of him on the ceiling.
The Abbot in the picture was beaming toplessly. His shoulders were wide, and his waist was thin; he
looked so cut.
Reba was sunk in thought as the bedroom was pushed open from the outside. The next second,
Cam came in with a smile.
"Ba, you''re up?"
Ba?
Content property of N?velDra/ma.Org.
Reba got up with a start. Even her own mother had never addressed her so intimately.
Looking at Cam walking in elegantly, Reba hurriedly sat up and groomed her disheveled hair,
saying, "Hello, Mrs. Carter."
Cam approached, sat down next to Reba, and smiled. "Did you have a good night''s sleep? Are
you feeling ufortable anywhere?"
As Cam said, she pulled Reba''s hand and put a big gold bracelet on Reba''s wrist.
Reba took a look at the bracelet and uttered in astonishment, "Mrs. Carter?"
Cam patted Reba on the back of her hand and uttered. "Rx. I don''t know what to give you for
our first meeting. It might be kind of old-fashioned to give you a gold bracelet, but I hope you''ll like it."
Reba thought inwardly, "Give me a gold bracelet for our first meeting. They do have money to burn,
don''t they?"
Reba always knew that the Carters were rich, but it turned out that she still underestimated their
wealth.
They were not acquainted at all, yet they gave her a gold bracelet as a present.
Fixing her eyes on the big gold bracelet on her wrist, Reba lost control of her facial expression. She
smiled so happily that her eyes were narrowed into a slit as she said, "Mrs. Carter, it''s so kind of you."
Cam asked, "Would you like something to eat?"
Reba answered in a proper manner, "It''s gettingte. I should go back."
Cam uttered, "No rush. I''ll ask Abbot to send you home after you grab some food."
Then, she pulled Reba downstairs.
Sitting in the dining room, Reba finally caught on to why Abbot was so confident.
His family was indeed affluent enough!
The dishes for dinner that they were having were worth at least 1500 bucks, let alone the decoration
and furnishings of the Carters'' Mansion.
At the table, everyone had their own thoughts.
Cam asked Reba about her family from time to time. Abbot sat opposite Reba with his face
darkened and eyes filled with warnings.
After dinner, Reba proposed to go home. Cam did not ask her to sleep over but winked at
Benjamin, asking, "What about the gifts for Ba?"
Benjamin said solemnly, "I''ve asked someone to put them in the trunk."
Cam uttered, "Ba, go and take a look."
Reba was stupefied. Cam took Reba to get up and walk out of the mansion.
Abbot''s trunk was full of various gifts.
Reba finally realized something amiss. She hurriedly exined to Cam, "Mrs. Carter, I''m afraid
you''ve misunderstood something. Abbot and I are only friends."
Cam clenched Reba''s hand and said in a voice that was only audible to them two, "Abbot said
you fell for him, but I don''t believe it. I know you don''t like him."
Reba was taken aback and uttered, "Then why you still..."
Cam smilingly stated, "Although you don''t like Abbot, you can like his money!"
Reba couldn''t help thinking to herself, "Are the Carters so open-minded?"
Cam said, "Abbot is loaded."
Reba awkwardlyughed and said, "Mrs. Carter, as the saying goes, ''Money is not everything.''"
Cam nced behind her and saw Abbot smoking on the steps. She then whispered, "Ba, it''s now
or never. Think about it. Abbot is so rich and handsome and pea-brained. It''s surely a once-in-a-lifetime
chance."
Reba thought inwardly, "Now I wonder if Abbot is their biological son."
