Lia took the gun but almost dropped it. It was much heavier than she had imagined, and she struggled to lift it with her thin arms and legs. Dominic approached Be with his gun and asked, "Want to give it a try?"


    Be quickly shook her head. "No, that''s okay! I don''t know how to handle it, and I''m afraid I''ll identally fire it. I''ll just watch you guys."


    He smiled, casually holding the gun in one hand and taking her hand with the other as they got into the car.


    They split into three vehicles-Pierre and Xavier in one, Be and Dominic in another, and Leonard, Lia, andn in thest. The drivers were staff from the hunting grounds. They were also guides and would share some of the rules and restrictions of the area. It was clear that Pierre and Xavier had other ns as they quickly parted ways with the rest of the group. When Xavier leaned out of his car to search for prey with his gun, the barrel was unexpectedly pointed at the vehicle that Leonard was in. The driver gasped and spoke in the localnguage, "Mr. Xavier, you can''t do that. It''s too dangerous..."


    Pierre calmly pressed down on Xavier''s gun barrel. "Don''t show your thoughts so obviously. It''s not the right time yet. I know you''re not happy about Dad splitting the inheritance into three parts. But we grew up together, after all. Are you really willing to go that far?" Xavier scoffed. "Money and benefitse first. Isn''t that what Dad taught us? What does family matter? Besides, he''s just an outsider we grew up with. You''re even more ruthless than me, so why pretend to be some saint?"


    Pierre didn''t respond directly and lit a cigarette. "Calm down and enjoy yourself. We have plenty of time. If you act now, you''ll end up dead at Dominic''s hands."


    Xavier nced at the car with Dominic and Be, his expression icy. "Leonard is just lucky. I would''ve dealt with him ages ago if it weren''t for Dominic."

    After nearly an hour of driving, Be finally spotted some animals.


    The hunting ground hadrger carnivorous animals, resembling a semi-wild ecosystem altered by humans. The animals here were more alert and wary of humans, unlike domesticated animals that


    weren''t afraid.


    In the distance, Be spotted a herd of deer grazing peacefully. Dominic signaled the driver to stop the car far away and then got out to find a good spot for hunting.


    Be followed him, squatting down


    to mimic his posture. Watching him concentrate so intently filled her with admiration. He was so skilled. She had no idea he could handle a gun so well.  en


    Noticing her gaze, he turned his head to her and asked, "Want to give it a try?"


    Be shook her head awkwardly. "No, it''s fine! I''m just curious. You don''t need to worry about me."


    He smiled softly, and as he joked with her, he pulled the trigger. The deer scattered in panic, and the one that was hit struggled for a few steps before copsing.

    Dominic waved to the driver, who then brought the car closer. They loaded the dying deer into the vehicle as they could choose to take their trophy with them.


    By evening, everyone gathered back at the starting point. Without exception, all of them had a sessful hunt.


    Leonard and Jan were off in the


    distance, deep in conversation.


    Meanwhite, Lia ran over to the


    weapons selection area, her face full


    of curiosity. Suddenly, Xavier


    approached her. He picked up a gun


    and handed it to her.


    "Let me show you how to use it."


    Before Lia could respond, Xavier moved behind her and guided her hands to hold the gun properly. When she realized the gun was pointing at Leonard, she tried to pull away. "That''s too dangerous! I don''t want to try anymore!"


    Xavier smiled, but his eyes were cold. "Don''t worry. There are no bullets in it."
