I awaken as usual and slap the top of my alarm clock and take comfort in the silence of the morning,

yeah I know what your thinking “your lying” and in this case you’d be right, what actually happened was I face planted on the floor with a loud thud and for a moment I lay there against the cold wooden boards.
I finally remembered that I didn’t want to be late and pulled myself up to my feet and glanced at the mirror on the wall, a skinny white man with bright red hair looked back at me.
With the push of the enter key I started the 2 minute count down and watched it slowly tick down.
Before the numbers hit zero without me or anyone else in the building realising it in a brief flash of light the city was shaken by a 20 foot tungsten rod.
