    When she raised her face, she happened to see his contemtive look, and she regarded him suspiciously.

    “I agree with your suggestion to invite her over; that way, I can properly reevaluate her.” He looked at his wife with sincerity.


    She did not doubt his husband on this. After all, he had always listened and had never once lied to her.


    Hence, easily convinced, she nodded happily.


    “Okay. I’ll see when Ge Ge’s free and invite her over. You can evaluate her all you want, then.” She grinned, clearly satisfied with this oue.


    He secretly sighed in relief when he noted his wife’s satisfaction. Before doing anything else, he at least needed to ensure this.


    “Oh, right. Where did Ming Ming go? I heard from Tongtong that he was not present in thepany today.”


    The thought of inviting Pei Ge over made her recall their son.


    “Our son is a busy man; how can he stay in that smallpany all the time?” He snorted, brushing it off.


    Another reason he disliked that woman was their usually calm and collected son nonsensically staying in that smallpany every day rather than the Ji Group’s headquarters.

    The moment they stepped out of the building, she could finally not suppress her question regarding Ji Ziming’s whereabouts.


    “I don’t know. Did he not give you a call?” She blinked at her curiously.


    “Yes, he didn’t.” She frowned in worry. Even when he leftst time, he at least still called her.


    This time, however, he did not even give her a call, much less a text.


    “Rx, Sister Pei Ge. There’s nothing to worry about that demon king!” Noticing how worried she was, the girl hooked her arm through hers reassuringly.


    “If my cousin disappears, the person people should worry isn’t him but the other person. Ever since I was a child, I’ve never seen the need for others to worry about my cousin!” The youngdy grinned uncaringly.


    She also smiled at this yet still felt worried for the man who had disappeared sans a heads up.

    “I just recalled that there was once a time when there’s a need to worry for my cousin’s life,” the girl rified.


    “Eh? What time?” Her curiosity was piqued.


    “It’s when he’s still in high school. He was once kidnapped—”


    Pei Ge’s exmation cut her off.


    “Kidnapped?!” She widened her eyes in disbelief.


    “Yes, kidnapped.” Qin Qitong nodded. She had a faraway look, which indicated that she was recalling past events. “It’s tough back then as my cousin came close to being killed by his hostage-takers.”


    “Th-Then how did he escape?” Although she knew that the man had survived in the end, her voice was tinged with trepidation when she asked this question.


    “A little girl saved my cousin. If not for her... you probably wouldn’t meet him in this life.” Her expression turned queer at the mention of this girl. She did not notice this, though.


    “How exactly did he escape, and how did that girl save him?” All her attention was on how he had escaped from his kidnappers.


    Qin Qitong was secretly relieved when she did not press about the little girl’s identity.


    Although she disliked that woman, it was undeniable that she had saved her cousin; thus, she was a ‘benefactor’ that the Ji and Qin families could not mistreat.


    “Don’t assume that my cousin is free of fear just because he appears to be strong. He actually night-blind and ustrophobic.” She thought for a moment and decided to reveal his secret to Pei Ge whom she now deemed as a family.


    Pei Ge was stunned by this revtion.


    She recalled his past abnormal behavior when the elevator malfunctioned and they got stuck inside it.


    She could understand now why he was akin to a blind person as he groped his way around when thepany had a ckout.


    “Back then, if not for that girl apanying him in that cramped, dark room, who knew what would’ve happened to him...”
