chapter 3: The black angel

Nero Cobolt was born in 1990, and his life has been marked by tragedy. Even before his birth, his aunt failed to inform his parents that his grandfather had tuberculosis, which could have killed them all before he was even born. At the age of 3 months, Nero''s grandfather passed away—he never even knew what his face looked like until 13 years later. His family, though good-hearted, was taken advantage of for their kindness over three generations. His grandmother, father, and mother helped others and supported family members, only to be used and abandoned, leaving them with nothing but problems.

At the age of 5, Nero began suffering from 11 years of bullying—both verbal and physical—at nursery and primary school. This bullying came from both classmates and teachers who saw him as a "class dunce," leading to constant misunderstandings and humiliation. He was further manipulated by narcissistic family members, and his eldest brother abandoned the family at the age of 14, leaving Nero with his parents, sister, and middle brother. His middle brother became involved in a toxic relationship with a married woman. During this time, Nero also witnessed his family''s business collapse, adding to the weight of his burdens.

Nero battled five major addictions: food, pornography, gore, alcohol, and painkillers. He went through five failed friendships, as well as one toxic relationship where he was used for money. Eventually, Nero quit alcohol, pornography, painkillers, and gore, losing 72 pounds in the process, going from 230 lbs to 158 lbs. The drastic weight loss came with health risks, including muscle loss, electrolyte imbalance, nutritional deficiencies, gallstones, and a drop in energy. He even spent $192 USD to clear his acne.

During this time, he shifted from Machiavellianism and cynicism to pragmatism and nihilism in just three months, following the painful end of his first relationship. His girlfriend had used him, never truly loved him, and cheated on him. This experience reinforced Nero''s belief that he was just a tool, used by others without any true care or affection.

Nero had been suffering in silence for over 10 years because no one seemed to care. At 14, he fell deeper into his addictions, starting with pornography, then moving to alcohol and painkillers. He almost died from a painkiller overdose at the age of 14. At the age of 10, he tried to take his life three times. Years of pain led Nero to believe that God only harms the good, not the bad, and because of this, he turned to occultism and Machiavellianism at the age of 14.

The worst part of his early life was when he tried to run away from home at the age of 7. He grew to believe that everyone around him was a sociopath who lacked empathy for his pain, and he could never be vulnerable with people, especially after his family mocked him for his struggles. Nero developed an inferiority complex and low self-esteem, feeling unworthy of love, empathy, or compassion. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Throughout his life, Nero came to believe that he was unlovable and incapable of forming real connections with others. His brain blocked out much of his memory, and he could not recall large portions of his past, making it difficult for him to express his feelings or speak about his experiences. The first female friend he had in his neighborhood took her own life when they were in primary school, further solidifying his belief that his worth was tied to his looks, wealth, status, and strength.

Nero had long given up on the idea of happiness or fulfillment, resigning himself to misery as his reality. He lost faith in humanity and believed that no one would ever truly understand or care for him. He visited two psychologists over the years, but they couldn''t diagnose him with anything significant until a third mental health professional confirmed he had dyslexia at the age of 14. His mother, however, refused to accept the diagnosis and claimed he was just being difficult, dismissing his struggles.

Nero worked alongside his father and brother on various short-term business ventures, with promises of a share of the profits, but he never received a penny. He realized he had been used as a tool to help them without receiving any reward. He had been manipulated into thinking his life was easy due to his physical gifts and experiences, but emotionally, he was neglected. His family cared about him physically, but never emotionally. They used his vulnerability against him, and as a result, Nero never shared his deeper feelings with them—only surface-level conversations.

All he ever wanted was to be genuinely cared for, to have friends who truly loved him. But instead, he was treated like a tool, broken and discarded. His past made him feel like he was incapable of bonding with anyone, and he couldn''t see himself as lovable due to his appearance, wealth, and status. His life was marked by the belief that no one would ever truly care for him, and that he would never find meaningful connections. His past, buried in his memories, was difficult to recall, making it harder to express his pain.

Having suffered greatly, Nero rejected the concept of a benevolent God. Instead, he turned to Satan—the embodiment of wrath and vengeance. To him, God was a symbol of weakness, a force that allowed the good to suffer without consequence. But Satan, in all his fury, was the ultimate representation of justice in its purest, most unforgiving form. Wrath became Nero''s guiding principle, and revenge, his sole purpose. It wasn''t redemption he sought, but retribution—vengeance for the wrongs done to him and the world that never cared. In his eyes, only Satan understood the pain of the unjust, and through him, Nero would carry out the violence he felt the world deserved.

His version of justice was absolute—cruel, harsh, and unforgiving. There was no room for mercy, no compassion for weakness. Each life he took was a step toward cleansing the world, eradicating those he deemed unworthy. In his eyes, justice was not about fairness or balance; it was about imposing relentless, brutal punishment on those who deserved to suffer, regardless of the cost.

"I am the Black Angel, the terror that lurks in urban cities. I kill and kill criminals or anyone who dares commit a serious crime. They will be punished by the Black Angel. I deliver absolute justice for the worst of all criminals, for I AM THE TERROR OF THE URBAN CITIES."
