Chapter 0364

    Chapter 0364

Candice nced over the revised rules again, realizing she had previously only focused on those

concerning Burning Star Studio, without noticing that the one most affected by these changes was

    actually Aether Corporation.

Among them, two rules almost directly turned Aether Corporation''s advantages into disadvantages.

After finishing reading, Candice''s expression turned grave. "Why would Darius do this? Weren''t you

    and him working together?"

Alex showed no emotion on his face. "Everyone wants to maximize their profits."

Candice remained silent. In the business world, everyone only cared about their own gains and

losses and didn''t care about others.

After a moment of silence, she asked Alex again, "If Aether Corporation is constrained by being tied

to Burning Star Studio, we won''t benefit either, right?"

"What do you think?" Alex countered.

Candice carefully examined the document once more. Gradually, her expression grew darker

because all the revisions in the document not only affected Burning Star Studio and Aether

Corporation, but also had a significant impact on the regions of Dorrington, Mutemaw, and Fesa

    City.

Putting away the document, Candice spoke heavily. "It seems this trip to Sris won''t be so easy."

"Are you scared?" Alex asked her.

She lowered her gaze, pondered for a moment, then looked back at him. Though her eyes still held

concern, there was also a hint of determination. "If you''re not afraid, why should I be?"

Compared to Burning Star Studio, Aether Corporation faced more obstacles. If Alex wasn''t worried,

then Candice had even less reason to be.

A scoff interrupted Candice''s thoughts. Alex seemed to see through her. "nning to find the next

    one before seeing the result?"

Candice didn''t argue. "Just preparing a backup n."

He chuckled, seeming unconcerned. "Are you insincere or is Burning Star Studio?"

Candice''s expression remained unchanged. "Let''s hope I don''t need to use my backup n."

Alex raised an eyebrow but said nothing, then turned and left.

However, after taking a few steps, he stopped, turned back, and picked up the bottle of wine and

the ss that Barox had forgotten, putting them into the nearby bag.

His tone was slow. "Shouldn''t pregnant women avoid alcohol?"

Candice watched as he took away the alcohol, then followed him all the way to the door of the

    room.

Just as they stepped out, they saw a man standing in the corridor wearing a gray hoodie and a cap,

looking directly in their direction. Candice, now more sensitive, looked up at the man, and their eyes

    met in mid-air.

The man seemed surprised that she suddenly looked over, hastily avoiding her gaze and staring

down at his phone. Candice simply regarded him as a passerby and didn''t think much of it.

    -

The next morning, Candice’s feeling of someone watching her from behind suddenly resurfaced.

She was in the hotel lobby and turned around, but there was nothing she could spot. The hotel

lobby bustled with people, as if her earlier sensation had just been an illusion.

Her mind was heavy with thoughts and her brows furrowed. She didn''t even hear Sawyer calling her

    until he caught up.

He sighed. "What are you thinking? I''ve been calling you, but you didn''t respond."

    "What''s wrong?" she asked.

"You''re going to the conference room, right? Come with us. Mr. Elysian is already in the car."

Candice thought for a moment and didn''t refuse. "Okay."

    Sawyer nced at her, surprised.

She didn''t notice his gaze. She still felt as if someone was following her, and in such a situation,

    sticking with Alex seemed safer.

Alex was reading the documents. When Candice got into the car, he didn''t react much and just put

    the documents away.

She nced in the direction of the hotel entrance and asked him, "Are you going to the conference

    room today?"

    "Yes, today is Daxton''s speech."

Daxton mainly spoke about the rtionship between investors and investees. Candice had read

some rted materials before and found it interesting.

"Are you going to visit Mr. Franklyn today?" she asked.

"No rush. Yondu hasn''t called me yet. I reckon the issue with the circuit breaker hasn''t been

    resolved."

Candice had no problem with that, so she took out some materials about Redshade Corporation

    and began to study them.

What Alex had saidst night had made her think that if the rules were so targeted, it would mean

the organizers might already have a candidate in mind. However, their target still needed the

organizers to prove their words through various rule changes.

Candice''s refusal to ept defeat and herpetitive spirit were ingrained in her character.

Usually, the problems at work that could be easily solved didn''t show how stubborn she was. But

when it came to instinctive defiance, her stubborn resilience emerged.

In Yana''s words, she was stubborn to death.

"Mr. Elysian," Sawyer suddenly said, "There seems to be a traffic ident ahead. There’s a traffic

    jam."

    "Change the route."

Sawyer acknowledged and, within the designated area, turned on the indicator, but as the car

turned halfway, a very urgent and sharp horn suddenly sounded from behind.

A white van had been following closely behind them, and suddenly seemed to lose control, rushing

    straight towards them.

Sawyer cursed, and jerked the steering wheel, but he was still slow. The white van rammed directly

into the rear of the car.

The ck Audi was shaken by the impact, and Candice was thrown sideways.

Her forehead hit the window, then she was thrown backward again, but the expected pain didn''t

come. Instead, she found herself falling into a warm embrace.

Amidst the swaying, her entire body was forcibly nestled into someone''s arms.

Alex protected her head, his arms around her body, shielding her from almost all the impact she

    would have received.

The shakingsted for quite some time before it stopped. When it becamepletely quiet outside,

a chorus of car horns sounded.

Candice was encircled in Alex''s embrace. Apart from the initial moment when her forehead hit the

window, she had no other injuries.

"Alex?" Shey on Alex''s chest, softly calling his name.

    There was no response.

"Alex? Are you okay?" Suddenly nervous, she raised her hand to push his arm.

But he held her tightly, and she couldn''t push him away at once.

Just as she was about to push again, she heard Alex''s muffled voice from above. "Don''t move." His

voice was low, with a suppressed cough in his throat.

The next moment, he slowly released his grip on Candice''s hand.

She straightened up and looked at him. The first thing she noticed was the blood on his forehead.

Although it was just a scrape, it looked terrifying.
