Isaac’s soft voice was thest thing Estre heard before she slid under the covers like a thief in the
night. Wrapping herself up, she covered her head as if by not seeing Autumn, the awkwardness would
disappear into thin air.
At the sound of Isaac’s call, Autumn snapped back to reality, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment
as she gazed at Jason sprawled on the bed. “Jason, how did you end up here? And without giving a
heads-up?”
If only she’d known he was in Estre’s room, she would have knocked and waited for a reply before
barging in. Now, they hadn’t officially remarried, and Isaac was still wreaking havoc on the bed. Autumn
had no choice but to embrace the awkwardness and pick up Isaac. “I’ll take Isaac out. You two better

Once Autumn left, Estre kicked off the covers andnded a foot on Jason. “What are you still
gawking at? Get up!”
Jason looked at herzily. “Isaac said he wants a little sister.”
Estre snapped, “Jason, go to hell!” Cussing him out, she practically booted him onto the floor.
He knew she couldn’t resist his charms, and now he had her wrapped around his finger.
Momentster, they headed downstairs for breakfast. Autumn kept rolling her eyes at Estre, making

Cole, on the other hand, was the picture of calm, casually reading the newspaper a morning’s events
were of no consequence to him. It wasn’t until the maid served him oatmeal that he put down the
paper, smiling at Jason, “So, Jason, thinking of reconciling with Estre?”
Jason replied earnestly, “I do want to remarry Estre. We’re going to make it work this time.”
Cole’s expression barely changed as he ate. “You and Estre are like oil and water. I’m not optimistic
about you two. Plus, there’s Isaac now.”
Jason insisted, “Dad, Isaac’s not an issue. I want to give it another shot with Estre.”
Cole remained unfazed. “Still, I’m not optimistic.” Cole’sck of optimism was a clear sign of
disapproval.
Jason should have foreseen this oue when he asked Dorvold Group to step aside for Innovative
Solutions Inc. three years ago.
Before Jason could respond, Cole continued with a wry smile, “Look, Jason, Estre can handle your
drama without breaking a sweat. As for you, well, you’d better consider if your can afford the toll.”
Cole was essentially saying their family already had a grandchild, and the adults could y their
games, but marriage was off the table.
Staring at Cole and observing his indifference, Jason thought to himself, “He’s indeed a sly old fox.
Ny percent of his daughter’s personality must have been inherited from
him.”
As Jason stared, Cole turned to the maid. “Our former son-inw loves ham. Why isn’t there any?”
The maid hurriedly replied, “Sir, it’s being prepared as we speak. It’ll be served shortly.”
With Cole’s mention of “former son-inw,” Jason felt a pang in his heart. Seeing his difort,
Estre slipped the crust of her half-eaten cinnamon roll into his te as a token offort, while Isaac
shared his unwanted egg yolk with him.

After breakfast, Jason got a call and had to rush out. Estre walked him to the door. In the yard, side
by side in silence, Jason didn’t speak. Estre patted his back, a gesture offort, urging him to
consider her father’s words.
Without her constion, Jason might not have felt hurt, but her touch made him feel wronged, and he
stopped to pull her into an embrace. He rested his chin on her shoulder, nuzzling her neck to express
his sense of injury.
Estre, amused and exasperated by his antics, turned to him. “Jason, think about it. I have a son. I
can handle the waiting game. You better decide if you’re up for the challenge.”
As her words hung in the air, Jason whispered softly, “I am.” Not just for a moment, but for a lifetime, if
need be-this was his greatest source of joy.
Jason’s voice carried a hint of neediness, and Estre chuckled before stepping back. “Go on, get
busy.”
As she withdrew, Jason held her face in his hands and kissed her lips-a kiss full of longing for the days
they’d been apart.
After their passionate embrace, Estre wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “If you don’t leave
now, my dad will be out here.”
Their times of intimacy had left her lips sore for days.
As the Maybach pulled away, Jason nced back at Estre through the rearview mirror,
a smile gracing his lips. He had fought hard to get to this point. Opposition from Cole, or the whole
world for that matter, wouldn’t make him let go.
Meanwhile, back in the vi, Cole had just settled into his study when his phone rang. His. face
darkened at the caller ID. He didn’t want to answer, yet he picked up the phone, knowing the call would
onlye again otherwise.
On the other end, the voice inquired, “Cole, is Jason with you?”
