''Really?'' Freya thought, ''Preston, you''ve got eyes in the back of your head now?''
Preston said coldly, "Hans, pat her down."
Freya stood her ground as Hans stepped forward to search her. She frowned and said, "I am, after all, Kieran''s fiancée. Shouldn''t someone else be doing this?"
"You''re right." Preston''s voice was devoid of emotion.
Freya thought he''d have one of the women staff members frisk her, but then Preston walked up to her and said, "I''ll do it myself."
"You..."
Before Freya could finish, Preston had already begun to search her.Belongs to (N)?vel/Drama.Org.
After confirming Freya wasn''t carrying anything suspicious, Preston allowed her into his penthouse suite.
Once inside, Freya started to take in thevishyout of the suite, which was probably the most modestly appointed penthouse in Echo City. The furnishings were surprisingly sparse, the bed reminiscent of a wooden nk.
Not even Preston, much less any middle-ss worker in Echo City, would stay in such a ce. After all, it was outdated, sparsely furnished, and, most importantly, outrageously priced.
"Take a look." Preston got straight to the point.
He tossed a stack of documents onto the table before Freya.
Bending down, Freya picked them up and saw they were about 120 South Seashore Drive. Thend belonged to the Harwood family.
Preston had his eyes on thend to open a new branch of the Tyler Group in Echo City. Basically, he was trying to sheak his overseas money back home legally-something people often refer to as "moneyundering."
"Mr. Tyler, why show me this?" Freya asked.
Pretending ignorance, Preston leaned back on the sofa and said, "No one knows why I''vee to Echo City. I''m curious. How did you know tintended to buy 120 South Seashore Drive?" Even Hans was in the dark about this.
Of course, Freya knew the significance of Preston buying thend.
She remembered because, in her past life, Preston fell for Eloise
instantly after he met her. Initially
nning to buy thend at a l
price, Preston purchased it for ten
times its value to catch Eloise''s
attention.
His extravagant pursuit of Eloise had caused quite a stir in Echo City. But all of that had yet to happen. Except for Freya and Preston, no one paid any attention to thend. "Let''s say I got lucky with a guess," Freya said.
After all, she couldn''t tell Preston she was reborn. No one would believe such an absurd im.
Preston''s piercing gaze scrutinized Freya''s words, skeptical.
"I have many ways to make Ms. Dawson talk. Would you wish to try?" he said, noting Hans to get ready to move in.
In desperation, Freya blurted out, "Mr. Tyler, aren''t you interested in getting closer to Eloise by buying thatnd? I can help!" Mention of Eloise raised Preston''s eyebrows, "Oh?"
His interest in Eloise was partly because of thend and because Eloise was Kieran''s woman.
But how did Freya know?
