I had a productive weekend of playing video games, sleeping, and…looking at other job opportunities.
I shouldn’t be. If I quit I’ll forget everything. Not that I had any substantial information about any of them. My knowledge was bare, taking the different iterations of monsters I found on the internet. Drake obviously can handle sunlight. There’s too many possible types to guess for the creep, Lev. And Alexander certainly doesn’t say, “fe, fi, fo, fum.”
Wicks had been investigative these past few days too because of my sudden “dreadfulness”. I’d tell him with honest intent that the place was different from what I was used to, mentioning it had a ‘hectic’ environment.
My heart twisted remorsefully not telling him the whole truth. What else is going on around us? How many more monsters are there? Are they just human skinned? How does that even work? The little I knew did nothing to quench my neverending questions.
I can’t just ask them. The only person that seemed a little receptive was Drake, but he’s friends with Alexander. So if I go asking around he’d tell him and I really don’t want to talk to him.
I put down my controller hearing the alarm buzz from my phone on the coffee table. I picked it up, checked the time, and pushed up from the couch. Eat, get ready, go to work. Wicks was called in early today, so I had no one to enjoy the Chinese leftovers with. I got myself a plate of chicken fried rice, set it on the bar, then side. Stolen story; please report.
“Happy first week.” I muttered, taking a bite.
