After Jim was dragged away, it was very quiet in the room. nca and Matthew looked at each other. They got to awkward silence for a moment, and then nca first spoke. “Let’s talk about that,” she said calmly. What just happened here was partially her fault. She had known Jim had a thing for her, but she let her guard down in front of him.

The pendant was the only evidence she had for her family, but just when she found maybe Mr. Butler know something about her pendant, Louise took it away. That girl destroyed everything.

    nca’s face changed a little. She was very upset by his words, but she struggled to hide her emotions. “I know I am nothing. But we have made a deal, and you must fulfill your duty. The pendant is a key piece of evidence.”
