    using that to trip me up, as if they were pushing bad luck my way every chance they got. I was

    because of Ivy, I lost that gig too. Tessa, what’s your daughter gonna do to make this right? Hasn’t she


    dragged me through the mud enough? Now I’m getting pulled into her drama again. How is that fair?”


    Tessa looked ashamed. “I can’t imagine Ivy bullying anyone. Isn’t your industry a bit chaotic? You


    know, with all the backstabbing and mudslinging. You can’t believe everything those gossip sites post,


    right?”


    ra rolled her eyes. “Have you forgotten how I ended up behind bars because of her? Does she want


    to see our family destroyed?”


    Tessa seemed helpless. “That wild child hasn’t lived at home for ages. I can’t control her anymore.


    Besides, your father doesn’t follow this celebrity gossip. Let’s keep it from him, okay?”


    When ra heard her tone, she knew Tessa wasn’t going to help. She let go of her arm and wrapped


    her own arms around herself, standing there aloof.


    “If you’re not going to handle your daughter, I’ll have to take care of it myself. Last time, I was unlucky


    to get locked up, but Dad bailed me out. I won’t let this slide. Ivy’s going to pay.”


    She spun on her heel and started to walk away when Tessa, a bit frantic, caught up and grabbed her


    wrist. “ra, please don’t be mad. Let’s not make a scene. It was hard enough getting you outst


    time; we can’t afford another incident.”


    ra stopped in her tracks, her back to Tessa, her face twisted in disdain. She knew how to

    Suddenly, she spun around and hugged Tessa. “Tessa, why don’t you go talk to Ivy? Tell her to stop

    bbing about our rtionship – it’s just not her style.”

    ra put on a sympathetic smile. “Tessa, I’m not actually asking you to talk to Ivy about this, I’m giving


    you a chance to see your daughter. Don’t you miss her?”


    Tessa paused, realizing she hadn’t thought about Ivy in ages.


    But ra’s thoughtful act seemed to touch her


    She smiled contentedly. “Having you as a daughter is more than enough for me, ra. As for Ivy-she


    left without a backward nce and got you in trouble. There’s no need for me to chase after her.


    Whatever you need, just say the word. Ivy may have left this family, but it’s not right for you to suffer for

    record something for me?”


    Tessa saw the cunning in ra’s eyes, but for the sake of keeping peace in the family, she reluctantly


    agreed, “Tell me what you want, and I’ll do it.”
