    Seeing Mara finally talking to him eased Balfour''s mind slightly.


    “I''ll head out and grab some stuff for you.”


    But as he was about to leave the building, Alyssa’s call caught him off guard.


    “Grandma, what''s up? Is everything okay?"


    Alyssa’s voice came through the phone, filled with concern, “What''s going on? I''ve been trying to


    call you. Your granddad and I are worried sick, thinking something might''ve happened to you. Did


    you help Ivy tidy up her dorm today as I asked?”


    Balfour felt a twinge of guilt, and his silence immediately tipped Alyssa off.

    Alyssa was known for her swift and decisive action, and after all that had happened today, Balfour


    didn''t want her disturbing Ivy.
