    just about to draw the curtains a bit to let you sleep in longer. Did I wake you with the noise?”


    Ivy, justing out of a nightmare, was still a bit dazed.


    “Where’s my husband? Where did he go?”


    ra’s smile remained gentle and reassuring. “Oh, you mean Mr. Howard? He went back home to grab


    some things for you. He said he’d be back within the hour, so he should be on his way now.”


    Upon hearing that Balfour had gone to fetch some items, Ivy’s eyshes fluttered downward. Unwilling


    to admit it, she found herself in need of Balfour, especially now. She wished he would stay by her side,


    not leaving even for a moment.


    “Are you thirsty, dear? Your lips look a bit chapped. Would you like some water?”
