    Chapter 2154

Balfour parked his car out front and handed the keys to the valet, striding into the living room with a

    bounce in his step.

He couldn’t help but look forward to seeing the expression on Ivy’s face when she heard he had found

    the evidence they needed.

“Just back from the office? Why leave Ivy all on her lonesome until now?”

As he entered, Alyssa was perched on the couch, evidently waiting just for him..

“You two just got together. It’s prime time for building that connection. You can’t keep leaving Ivy alone

at home like this. Your grandfather and I can be as sweet as apple pie to Ivy, but it’s your bond with her

that’ll make her heart sing. Balfour, I’m not trying to nag, but you’ve got to consider Ivy’s feelings more.”

Balfour nodded, “Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind. I get what you’re saying.”

Dean set aside his newspaper and approached his ambitious grandson, “Understanding isn’t enough,

boy. You’ve got to show her with actions, not just words.

The business can survive without you micromanaging. We don’t want you wearing yourself out. Seeing

you happy is what’s most important to us.”

Alyssa beckoned Balfour to stoop down, whispering to him while she straightened his crooked tie from

    his hustle.

“What’s the rush, boy? Where in the world is your zer? You ran back without it?”

That’s when Balfour realized he’d left his zer behind. He wasn’t too bothered though, his mind was

racing to share the good news with Ivy.

“I must’ve left it at the office.”

“Well, alright then. You better go on up and keep Ivypany. She took today’s events hard, and after

you left, she felt even lonelier.”

The elders had things they couldn’t quite articte, but they understood.

Ivy was considerate, never showing a hint ofint when Balfour rushed back to handle business

matters, even defending him in their presence.

But the sense of destion and unease in her eyes was something she couldn’t hide.

Balfour promised and hurried upstairs, eager to see Ivy.

Ever since that message, Ivy had been slumped on the couch in a daze. Her mind was nk, not

    wanting to do anything.

    “Click-”

The door opened. She turned around instinctively, only to see Balfour, who should have just left

    Giselle’s house.

    “I’m back.”

Balfour strode over, arms opening wide in a gesture to embrace Ivy.

But Ivy remained seated, her gaze drifting away, exuding a chilly air.

“Why are you back now? Weren’t you busy?”

Balfour thought she was still fretting over the drama at the set and didn’t take offense at her curt tone.

    “I wasn’t dealing with office stuff, I just went…”

He was about to exin his recent whereabouts to Ivy, but she suddenly clutched her head, covering

her ears and eximed, “I don’t want to know what you were doing! You don’t need to tell me.”

    “What’s wrong? I just went to help…”

Balfour knelt on one knee in front of the couch, drawing closer to Ivy.

“I don’t want to hear it! Just stop!”

Ivy lowered her hands, her chest heaving with effort as she tried to calm herself, reminding herself she

had no grounds to be upset.

“Why? Don’t you want to know what I was doing?
