    “The ambnce took its sweet time getting to the backlot, and the hospital is quite a distance from


    here. Balfour, why not let Nn drive Ivy? Do you want to see me passing out from pain right here in


    this diner? Balfour…”


    Balfour’s frown deepened with every passing second.


    At that moment, Nn chimed in, “Balfour, Giselle seems like she’s really hurting. You take her to the


    ER, and I can drop Ivy off No big deal.”


    Giselle seized her moment with a theatrical plea. “Oh… Ivy, please. I’m in agony here. Let Balfour give


    me a lift, just this once. Aren’t we all friends? You can’t just leave me to suffer.”


    Curled up like a shrimp, Giselle couldn’t even straighten up in her seat.


    Ivy, concerned something serious might be wrong, nodded her head to show she had no objections.


    Balfour grumbled, “Let…”


    Ivy cut in quickly, “I’ll ride with Nn.”


    If looks could kill, the icy re Balfour shot Ivy would’ve done the job. Though his face remained stoic,


    his eyes betrayed his irritation. Was he actually annoyed she chose Nn over him?


    Ivy couldn’t fathom why he was miffed. She had given him an out to be with his childhood sweetheart,

    Unable to decipher the emotions behind those eyes, Ivy grabbed her purse and left with Nn.


    “Let’s go, I need to get back to the set.”


    Balfour’s mood seemed to darken further, making even Giselle avert her eyes to avoid his re.


    “Now that they’re gone, can you take me to the hospital, Balfour?”


    She clung to his sleeve with one hand, the other pressed to her abdomen, the picture of suffering.


    “If you don’t need an ambnce and just a ride, then Quinton can take you just as well.”


    Quinton arrived in under ten minutes, hair tousled as if he’d rushed out the door.


    Balfour’s voice was cold as ice. “She’s all yours.”

    Quinton nodded dutifully, “Got it, I’ll make sure Giselle gets to the hospital safely.”


    “Ivy, Ivy?”


    “Huh? What’s up? Nn, did you say something?”


    Ivy snapped back to reality, meeting Nn’s curious gaze.


    “I’ve been calling you. Did you not hear? What’s on your mind?”


    Ivy forced a smile, “Sorry, I zoned out for a sec.”


    “Are you not feeling well? You hardly had a bite before we had to rush out.”


    She shook her head, “No worries, I’m fine. Just a bit tired.”


    Nn started the car. “As long as you’re not unwell. You don’t seem yourself, though.”


    She touched her cheek, “Really? Colton said I looked radiant this morning!”


    The way you’re acting, your feelings are written all over your face. Did you not want me to be the one to


    drive you back?”


    He asked half-jokingly, but Ivy sensed a hint of probing in his tone.


    “Not at all. It’s all the same to me; just hitching a ride, right? You or someone else, doesn’t make a


    difference.”


    Nn smoothly turned the steering wheel with one hand, his movements easy and practiced. “If it were


    all the same, you wouldn’t look so down. Why be so generous, letting another woman have your man?
