    kids up the stairs.

    to her, asking, “Mommy, is that man really our dad?”


    Ellinor gently lifted her gaze to her daughter as she nodded. “Yes, he is your dad. Do you like him?”


    La scrunched up her face in confusion. “I don’t know, and I don’t know him. But if Mommy likes him,


    I like him!”


    Raising an eyebrow, Ellinor asked, “So you think I like him?”


    La nodded. “Yeah! You must really like him, Mommy!”


    Caught off guard, Ellinor pulled her daughter into her arms and caressed her small face. “And how did


    you figure that out?”


    La’s bright eyes sparkled. “Because you let him kiss you. If you didn’t like him, you wouldn’t let him


    kiss you.”


    Ellinor sighed helplessly. “Oh! So, you did see that!”


    La giggled. “Not just me. All my brothers saw it too!”


    Ellinor rubbed her forehead in frustration. Her dignity as a mother was surely at stake now.


    “Alright, go y. Mommy needs some alone time.” She said, wanting to change the subject.


    “Okay!” La obediently hopped off her mother’sp and ran off to y with her three brothers.


    Alone on the couch, Ellinor leaned back as her hand rested on her forehead.

    The man stopped kissing her but didn’t let go of her. He hugged her tightly and rubbed his face against


    her neck. “Not enough!”
