    Chapter 1671

    Chapter 1671

Ellinor shook her head. “Hatred stems from memory, Mr. Howard. I have no recollection of you. I don’t

hate you, but I don’t like you either. I don’t want anything to do with you.”

McNeil looked at his headstrong daughter, feeling a hint of defeat. Despite her harsh demeanor, he felt

this was the happiest moment he’d had in the past twenty years.

After a moment of silence, heughed. “Ellinor, you’re so much like your mother. She used to talk to me

    like that too.”

Ellinor frowned and rolled her eyes in disgust. “Don’t mention my mother. You’re not worthy of her!”

McNeil was not surprised by her response. His elder son had said the same thing to him. He sighed.

    “I’m sorry, I…”

Ellinor had no patience for his empty apologies. “Enough! I’m here because your son begged me. He

came to our house and got on his knees. I hope you can be responsible for your family and children

from now on. Don’t cause them any more worry. Wake up, Mr. Howard! You’re not getting any

    younger.”

McNeil looked at his daughter, who was standing less than a meter away. Yet he couldn’t reach out to

    touch her.

“I’m sorry… Other than that, I don’t know what else to say. I don’t have the right to ask for your

    forgiveness.”

Ellinor smirked. “You’re right. You don’t have the right, and you don’t need to. Mr. Howard, take care of

your injuries and live a good life.”

With that, Ellinor turned to leave..

    McNeil called out. “Pearl, wait…”

Ellinor paused. “Mr. Howard, you’ve got the wrong name. I’m Ellinor, not Pearl.”

Reluctantly, McNeil corrected himself. “Ellinor, can you stay? Just for a little while?”

She didn’t want to, but she hade to fulfill Bryan’s request.

So she turned back. “If I stay a little longer, will you promise to eat properly, take your medicine, and

    stop being reckless?”

    McNeil nodded.

Ellinor walked back to his bedside. “Fine. I’ll stay a little longer. Make use of this time, Mr. Howard.

    Have some soup.”

McNeil looked at his daughter as a relieved smile crept onto his face.

He picked up the bowl of soup from the bedside table.

Ellinor watched as he drank, not offering any assistance.

Suddenly, Bryan’s nervous voice echoed from outside. “Bro! What are you doing here? Are Grandma

    and Grandpa alright?”

Balfour noticed his brother’s strange behavior.

“Yeah, they’re stable. What are you doing at the door? How’s he doing?”

Bryan blocked the entrance. “Umm… Dad’s much better. He’s resting now. Maybe you shouldn’t disturb

him. Come backter. I’m here; don’t worry.”

Balfour squinted. “Move. I want to see him.”

Bryan didn’t dare move. “Bro! Dad’s really sleeping. You’ll wake him up!”

Balfour snorted. “He’s been sleeping all night. How could he still be asleep? What are you up to? Move

    now, or else!”

Bryan knew he couldn’t hide anymore. “Bro, I’ll move, but you have to promise not to hit me. No matter

what you see inside, promise that you won’t hit me. Then I’ll move. Deal?”
